The Choice
**Arin's POV**
I pressed my hands against the triplets' chests and poured all my love into stopping the silver lightning that was killing them.
"Please work," I whispered desperately. "Please, please work."
The sparking energy around their bodies started to fade, and they stopped convulsing. All three of them gasped and opened their eyes at the same time.
"Arin?" Kael wheezed.
"I'm here," I said, tears running down my face. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you."
"We know," Jaxon said weakly, struggling to sit up.
Queen Althara clapped her hands slowly. "Very impressive. You managed to control your power for a few seconds. But can you keep it controlled when you're emotional? When you're scared? When you're watching someone you love die?"
"Leave her alone," Rowan said, getting to his feet.
"Oh, I will," Queen Althara said sweetly. "As soon as she comes with me."
"That's not happening," Kael said, standing up and moving protectively in front of me.
