Chapter 6 - ### **Chapter Seven: Quiet Moves**

Leah sat at her vanity table, brushing her long hair slowly, deliberately. Chris was still asleep in bed behind her, unaware of the thoughts racing through her mind.

Doubt had found a home in her chest, but it wasn't loud—it was patient. Calculating. Watching.

She opened the drawer quietly, pulling out her old phone. The one she hadn't used since before the marriage. It still worked. She charged it the night before. Just in case.

If Chris was hiding something…She needed to be smart. She needed proof.

Later that day, Lisa came over for coffee.

As usual, she wore designer clothes and a carefully crafted smile. But Leah noticed something different this time—Lisa looked nervous. Her laughter didn't come as easily.

Leah poured the coffee and sat across from her.

– "You and Chris seem really close lately," Leah said casually, stirring her drink.

Lisa blinked. A small pause. Then a short laugh.

– "He's your husband, Leah. You don't have to be jealous."

Leah smiled.

– "I'm not jealous. Just curious."

Lisa's fingers tapped the side of her cup.

Leah leaned forward slightly, her tone softer now.

– "You know… sometimes I get the feeling that I don't really know him. Not all of him."

Lisa tried to speak, but her phone buzzed. A message.

She read it quickly, then stood up.

– "I should go. I have a meeting with a producer."

– "Of course," Leah said sweetly, standing as well.

They hugged—briefly. Lisa's perfume lingered in the room after she left.

Leah walked to the window again. Her reflection stared back at her in the glass.

"They think I'm not watching," she thought."But I'm always watching."

That night, Chris mentioned he'd be traveling for a two-day business trip.

– "Shanghai. Just meetings. Boring stuff."

Leah smiled and nodded.

– "Don't forget your charger this time."

– "You're the best," he said, kissing her forehead.

He packed quickly and left in the morning.

But Leah knew one thing:There was no business trip.

And she was going to find out where he was really going.
