Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Visitors in the Dark

The night was getting darker, and the whole city seemed to be stained with a strange glow by the blood moon.

Su Yue sat by the window, holding a cup of cold coffee in her hand, looking into the distance with empty eyes.

Her fingers were still shaking, and her mind kept replaying the scene a few hours ago-

The silver-haired man, the burning letter paper, her father's message... and her own pupils that changed under the blood moon.

"The blood of the origin... the fallen royal family... werewolves, vampires..."

These words were like poison, corroding her originally peaceful life bit by bit.

The mobile phone still had no signal, and the home was disconnected from the Internet, as if all external contacts had been artificially cut off.

She knew that tonight would not end so easily.

When the clock struck twelve, she suddenly heard the doorbell ring.

"Ding Dong."

She looked at the door vigilantly and did not move.

"Ding Dong, Ding Dong."

The doorbell rang again and again, with a regular rhythm, but it was like some kind of ancient summoning ritual.

"Who is it?" she asked in a deep voice.

A magnetic and gentle male voice came from outside the door: "Don't be afraid, I'm here to save you."

Su Yue was startled.

"I know you are confused now, Miss Su." The man continued, with an irresistible gentleness and elegance in his tone, "I am not an enemy. At least, before you really understand this world, I am your only friend."

"Who are you?"

"Ethan Lanwei, the thirteenth generation heir of the Lanwei family." He paused, his tone sank, "Vampire noble, member of the Night Judgment Council."

Su Yue froze.

Vampire.

Her brain was working fast. How did he know her name? How did he know that she had just awakened?

More importantly - why didn't she feel scared, but instead felt inexplicably familiar?

"Come in."

The moment she unlocked the door, her heart was beating like a drum.

The door slowly opened.

That was a suffocating man.

His long black-gold hair was tied up delicately, his skin was white and almost transparent, his deep red eyes were as clear as rubies, and his every move was full of aristocratic aura.

He did not wear modern clothes, but a retro-style robe with dark gold lines, and a blood-red badge on his chest that seemed to represent his identity - a bat with wings spread and a cross in its mouth.

He walked in slowly, his steps were light, but it seemed to bring silence to the whole night.

"What... do you want to do to me?"

Su Yue subconsciously took a step back.

"Protect you." He raised the corner of his mouth slightly, as if laughing, "Before you are killed by the werewolf."

"How do you know that the werewolf will..."

She suddenly stopped.

"That man, the silver-haired one, is called... Xiao Yeche. He saved me."

"He did save you." Ethan nodded, his eyes slightly colder, "But why do you think he appeared at that moment?"

Su Yue was stunned.

"You mean... he knew it a long time ago?"

"He knew the time of your awakening, and he also knew that you were 'her' daughter."

"She?"

"Vera von Lohr - the last bloodline holder of the Fallen Royal Family." Ethan approached her with a hint of respect and complexity, "Your mother. The entire Night Clan once submitted to her."

Su Yue's mind was buzzing.

Mother, her mother who she had almost no impression of, was actually a descendant of the vampire royal family?

"I don't believe it... If she was really that important, why would she abandon me?"

Ethan did not answer, but reached out and took out an ancient pendant from his arms.

In the middle of the pendant was a photo of her childhood. The smiling face was in sharp contrast with the cold silver of the pendant.

"This is what she left for me. She said that if this girl awakens that day, I must return it in person."

Su Yue took the pendant, her fingertips were cold, but she seemed to touch a familiar temperature.

"Is she still alive?"

"No one knows." Ethan whispered, "After the Fallen Royal Family was hunted, she completely disappeared."

The air fell into a brief silence.

Ethan looked at her, his eyes suddenly became sharp: "Su Yue, you must leave here immediately. The blood flowing in your body is the supreme prey for all the Night Clan and werewolves."

"You are both the key and the test."

"What key?"

"The key to open the 'Blood Contract'-the last lifeline of the Fallen Royal Family."

"Blood Contract?"

"It is the ultimate contract among the three ancient contracts that can break the law of reincarnation and rule the night world." He paused, "You are the guide of that contract."

Su Yue felt like her head was hit by a hammer.

She is just an ordinary person, how could she suddenly become the center of an ancient contract?

She wanted to refuse, wanted to say loudly that she didn't believe it all, but the blood moon power in her body was still rolling, forcing her to face reality.

"Then... where are you taking me?"

"The headquarters of the Night Council." Ethan said, "Only there is safety."

"Why should I trust you?"

"You shouldn't trust me." Ethan said frankly, "Just like you shouldn't trust Xiao Yeche. We all want the blood in your body."

He leaned down, almost close to her, and his voice was so low that it sounded like a whisper:

"But I promise that I will be the last one to let go."

Su Yue's heart trembled slightly.

His words were like a rose with thorns, beautiful, dangerous, but hard to refuse.

"Give me five minutes, I'll pack my things."

"Only take what you really want to take." Ethan leaned against the wall, with a hint of playfulness in his eyes, "From tonight, your identity is no longer an 'ordinary person'."

Five minutes later, they left the apartment where she had lived for four years.

Just as they walked a short distance, Su Yue looked back.

A figure stood on the roof.

Silver hair, cold eyes, bathed in the moonlight.

"Xiao Yeche..." she murmured.

The other party did not speak, but just stared at her and Ethan's backs, with an unprecedented coldness in his eyes.

In the night wind, he took out a silver scroll and gently unfolded it.

That was the highest order of the werewolf tribe.

There were five words written on it——

Blood Moon Hunting Order.
