As a member of the Adventurer's Guild, the Dungeon's administrative organization, Eina, who had worked at the service counter for a long time, had seen countless newcomers. These newcomers were either boisterous, acting like they were incredibly amazing, immediately requesting the most difficult tasks, or timid, hiding behind their Gods, unable to look up.
The former usually died quickly, while the latter rarely achieved anything, belonging to the type who struggled silently and without recognition.
A person's personality can determine their fate, at least in Eina's view. Arthas was the type of calm and composed man. Without saying anything else, he would definitely be able to protect his life in the Dungeon.
Survival is the first priority. As long as they survive, even the weakest adventurers will eventually grow stronger.
As for Hestia's talk of genius, Eina didn't care much. She had seen many geniuses: some who rose to prominence, some who shone brightly before disappearing without a trace, and some who fell.
Truly successful geniuses are few and far between.
"Let's register. You just need to fill out a simple form."
Taking Hestia and Arthas to her counter, Eina expertly handed Arthas a series of forms and documents.
"The Guild can provide many conveniences for you as an adventurer. Of course, we will also charge a certain fee. As an adventurer, the crystals obtained by defeating monsters can be exchanged for gold coins at our Guild, and the fee is directly deducted from this exchange."
Arthas nodded, handing the signed contract back to Eina, indicating that he understood.
"Good. You understand. Adventurers are relatively free and there are no strict rules. Just remember one thing: Adventurers must absolutely not go adventuring recklessly!"
"Adventurers must absolutely not go adventuring recklessly?"
Arthas muttered this, his head tilted. The seemingly contradictory phrase was full of meaning, essentially meaning that one must always be cautious, fully prepared, and always prioritize safety.
"Survival is always the top priority. If you encounter an enemy you can't defeat, it's not shameful to call for help or run away. Before a battle, analyze your chances of winning and think about your God."
"During the early stages of your adventuring career, I will be your advisor. I will teach you many basic things about adventurers and the Dungeon. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me."
Eina said this, and Hestia patted Arthas on the shoulder.
"I'm going to work now. Arthas, you must study hard. And don't push yourself too hard at first; the early stages are very difficult for mages."
Hestia said this, waved her hand, and reluctantly left the Adventurer's Guild, leaving only Arthas and Eina.
"Your God just said… you're going the mage route?"
"Um… that should be right, I think? My Magic attribute seems to be high."
Arthas said vaguely. Although he wasn't entirely clear about what was unusual about him, it was best not to casually talk about the question mark in the Magic attribute section.
"A mage… Mages are undoubtedly very powerful, but the path of a mage is extremely difficult. At first, we can't provide you with very good magical equipment. In fact, we only have the most ordinary weapons here. Mages' essential staves and magical items all need to be obtained through your own efforts. In the early stages, you can only rely on your own strength to wield weapons and defeat monsters."
Eina said with a hint of regret. The young man in front of her was indeed a very excellent newcomer, but unfortunately, his Magic attribute was high, requiring him to take the mage route. Eina could already foresee the difficult journey ahead for this young man. She hoped he could persevere.
Although it was a simple basic lesson, by the time Eina finished, it was almost dusk. Seeing Arthas looking drowsy, Eina shook her head disapprovingly.
"These things are tedious, but every point is very important. For you in the early stages, remembering these will greatly ensure your safety in the Dungeon."
"Don't worry, I've memorized everything."
Arthas, perking up, nodded. Eina was somewhat skeptical of his statement.
Before he left, Eina gave Arthas a small dagger and gave him a task: to go to the first floor of the Dungeon, kill the weakest Goblin, and bring back its crystal.
It was already late, and the Dungeon at night was more dangerous than during the day, so Eina told Arthas to start his Dungeon adventure tomorrow.
"I have… a strange sense of déjà vu…"
Walking home with a small dagger, Arthas muttered to himself. Eina's task reminded him of something strange, but he couldn't remember what it was.
"Anyway… kill a Goblin on the first floor, right?"
Eina's instructions were to be careful, even on the first floor, and not to venture too deep. Killing one Goblin on the first floor would suffice.
There's a lot to learn about combat and adventuring; there's no need to rush.
Those were Eina's exact words. According to Eina, Arthas should ideally stay on the first floor for a month or two before thinking about exploring the lower levels.
After all, a high Magic attribute doesn't necessarily mean one can master magic. Some people, even with good Magic attributes, still become warriors because they can't master magic.
Of course, Eina didn't know that Arthas had already awakened his own magic when he signed the contract with Hestia, although Arthas himself didn't understand what it was yet.
Even though it was dusk, the streets of this labyrinth city were still crowded. Various races could be seen. Arthas, slightly uncomfortable with the lively atmosphere, struggled to navigate through the crowd.
Most of the races, Arthas couldn't name. Among these people, there were ordinary citizens, and some wearing splendid equipment, who seemed to be adventurers returning from exploring the Dungeon today.
Passing through the bustling streets, through a narrow alley, and turning several corners, when the noise completely disappeared behind him, Arthas reached the end of the road and arrived in front of his and Hestia's dwelling.
