Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 3.

With shaky legs, Leilani staggered up the stairs, struggling to not burst into tears so those people laughing loudly behind her wouldn't have leverage over her.

Not like they didn't already.

It was as if the world she had known was crumbling away and it hurt more because there was absolutely nothing that she could do about it.

Turning the knob of the door to her room, she breathed out and then entered.

However, she had not entered fully before she caught the whiff of luggage settled in the corner of her room.

Her matrimonial room.

Their house had just three rooms, and her mother-in-law and sister-in-law were occupying two, leaving one for her and Jonathan.

Even though she was aware of how the man was displeased with them sharing a room, they still had no other choice than to.

He rarely comes home and sleeps in the bed with her anyway.

"Her luggage is here… already," she stated as if anyone was there to hear her.

She dropped the document on the bed, walked to the bags, and then sniffed.

She was boiling in anger.

For many years, she had been committed to Jonathan.

Even before he suddenly proposed to her four years ago, she had loved him.

Maybe she was stupid and naive as he had said.

He never showed her any love interest till he suddenly came to her and told her he wanted to marry her.

She believed him. After all, she loved him too.

But, what was the outcome?

For four years, she was being played in his greedy game.

Frustrated, she kicked the box on the floor and then winced when it hurt her leg instead.

"Fuck!"

"Nothing has ever gone well for me, nothing!" She cried out and then settled on the floor slowly.

"God, what have I done to deserve this?!"

Leilani remained in her position, wailing as hard as she could, hoping that her voice would remain in the room.

She was still feeling cramps and pelvic discomfort. She was still feeling guilty and wouldn't stop wondering if she had done something wrong to lose her baby.

All she needed at the moment was not this.

She needed their support more than ever. She needed their comfort!

But, no one even believed her.

They thought she was faking it because she wanted to get on their good side more than ever, especially when Jonathan had brought another woman home and her luggage was in their room already.

Amidst crying heavily, the door creaked open and she hurriedly wiped off her tears, fearing it was her mother-in-law or Jonathan.

But it was neither of them.

It was Lorraine.

She walked in rather majestically with a glass of wine in her eyes, smiling gently.

She was beautiful.

Leilani admitted inwardly.

She had a very young, attractive face and the red lipstick on her lips made her even more charming than she might be.

When Lorraine covered the space between them, she took a step back till her leg hit the frame bed and then stopped.

Lorraine poked her chest with her finger continuously that it hurts, "if I were you, I would sign the divorce papers right away and leave this fucking house."

"You can't tell me what to—"

She dropped the glass cup that was already empty on the floor and then raised her shoulders, "No, I will. Jonathan is mine and I swear on my mother's grave that I would kill anyone who comes my way."

She might not be bluffing…

Leilani thought.

She looked serious. She had menacing looks on and she could only wonder where Jonathan had met this woman.

Lorraine looked down at the shattered glass cup, bent down slowly, and then picked up a piece.

"I would do anything… I mean, anything to be with this man and if I start telling you the things I would do to get him, you would run from here as fast as your legs could carry you."

"You are—"

Before she could complete her statement, Lorraine slashed her jaw gently with the glass and then smiled menacingly before she sat on the floor and then screamed.

Leilani parted her lips as blood started to drip from the cut. "What are you…"

"Why are you doing this to me, why?!"

Lorraine cried out.

Leilani was still trying to understand what was going on before the door pushed open her husband rushed in, and then her mother-in-law and sister-in-law.

And then, it dawned on her.

This malicious woman was going to frame her!

"What happened here?!" Jonathan bellowed as he knelt beside Lorraine.

"S… she did this!" She cried out, pointing her index finger accusingly at her.

Leilani widened her eyes and took a step back, "What? Me?!"

"God, you're bleeding!" Jonathan snapped.

"How dare you?" Nancy grabbed her arm.

"I swear, Mother, I didn't even touch—"

"Shut up! Were you so jealous of her that you tried to kill her?!"

"N… no! She… she did that to…"

"Shut the fuck up, Leilani, shut up!"

When Jonathan hollered, the whole room fell into silence and all she did was stand in her position, shivering.

He moved away from Lorriane, gesturing to his sister to watch over her and when he got to her, he slapped her right on her face without blinking an eye.

"How could you?" He asked and then grabbed her arm.

"J… Jonathan, you…"

He pushed her away, grabbed the document lying on the bed, and then forced it in her hand.

He looked around for a pen and when he found one, he dragged her to the table and then dropped the pen on the table.

"Sign it. Now. And then leave… immediately."

"Jonathan!" Leilani cried out.

"Sign it!" He bellowed and she swallowed hard.

Her eyes briefly dropped on the woman on the floor, and Leilani swallowed in furry when she watched her lips tugged into a smile.

"I… I will never… forgive you for this," she vowed to him, her voice shaking.

"Sign. It. And. Leave!" he snapped.
