Chapter 12 - Episode 12 — The Fire Trials and the Sealed Council

The Celestial Realm did not react.

It observed.

Even as the wind turned hot, even as old seals trembled and the sky whispered names long erased — the gods above their golden thrones merely watched.

For that was the first law of the heavens:

The stars do not interfere until the game is worth losing.

But now — pieces had moved.

And at the edge of it all, in a half-ruined temple of frost and fire, a girl who was once a flame… had ignited again.

Lian Qiao knelt at the base of the ancient well, her palms pressed to the stone.

The ground around her pulsed — not violently, but rhythmically, like a heartbeat finally rediscovered.

Her spiritual energy swirled through the air, no longer peach-pink and clumsy, but gold-tinged and controlled. Her robes fluttered though there was no wind. Her braid, half-undone, shimmered faintly — a red thread now streaked with flame.

Mo Yujin stood a few paces away, silent as the cold.

He had never once interfered with a divine trial.

Not when gods fell. Not when empires crumbled. Not even when he was the one being judged.

But now, his fingertips ached with restraint.

Because this was no ordinary awakening.

It was the beginning of her Fire Trials.

There are many paths to immortality.

Some train through centuries.Others are chosen by stars. But the most dangerous… are those who must be reborn from ruin.

Lian Qiao's trial would not be scripted by heavenly order.

It would come from within.

A voice rose inside her — low and female, strong and ancient. Not hers… and yet of her.

"You forgot your name. You buried your flames. You gave up your sky.Do you still want it back?"

She clenched her jaw. "Yes."

"Even if it burns what you have now?"

Qiao saw flashes — Master Bai smiling through wine. The koi in the pond. Her floating bed of clouds. Her dumpling spells and sun-drenched days.

Then she saw his face.

Yujin's.

Once lost.Now watching.Still waiting.

"I do," she whispered.

Suddenly — the floor of the temple cracked.

Not broken — opened.

Flames poured out, not violent, but sentient, swirling in delicate patterns like the petals of an awakening lotus.

Qiao's body lifted into the air.

She gasped as the flames wrapped around her, examining, testing, remembering.

And then — they entered her.

Her back arched. Her eyes glowed gold. The mark of the Southern Sky burned to life across her collarbone: a lotus in flame.

She fell to the ground, panting.

But her hands no longer shook.

She rose slowly — not reborn, not remade — but restored.

Mo Yujin stepped forward, gaze unreadable. "Your seal is broken."

She looked down at her glowing skin. "And my trial?"

He studied her for a long moment.

"It has only just begun."

🏛️ Deep within the Heavenly Court…

A heavy door, carved with the faces of the original Nine Immortals, creaked open for the first time in over ten thousand years.

Elder gods — beings older than war, older than death — sat around a circular table beneath a skyless dome.

The Sealed Council.

They stared at a mirror, upon which the image of Lian Qiao burned like a phoenix through cloud.

"She remembers," murmured one.

"The fire has returned," said another.

"And the war?" asked a third.

All eyes turned to the oldest among them — a figure whose beard was woven with stardust, whose eyes saw both past and future.

He nodded once.

"Then the heavens must prepare.Because the girl of the Southern Sky has awoken. And she is not alone."
