Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Demon

Harry, familiar and at ease, followed Wong into the grandest hall of Kamar-Taj. In the center of the ancient hall, at a low tea table, sat a kind-faced, bald woman draped in yellow robes.

Upon seeing Harry and Wong, the Sorcerer Supreme smiled warmly and pushed two freshly poured cups of tea toward them.

The Sorcerer Supreme was gentle and broad-minded, so Harry felt no nervousness in her presence, even though she was an immensely powerful mage:

"Master, what is our lesson for today?"

The Sorcerer Supreme unhurriedly set down her teacup, her face partially obscured by a faint mist of steam, exuding an otherworldly aura:

"Harry, you have studied magic for seven years now. It is time for you to face a stronger foe.

In half an hour, a demon invading Earth will appear in the outskirts of Kathmandu, Nepal. You must defeat it alone."

Wong frowned slightly, his expression concerned:

"Sorcerer Supreme, Harry has only been studying for seven years. It was just recently that he gained stable control over his immense magical power. Sending him to face a demon alone now seems too dangerous."

The Sorcerer Supreme shook her head:

"Harry's talent far surpasses yours or mine. He is the most gifted mage I have ever seen.

Don't worry, this won't be difficult for him. He just needs a little push."

Without waiting for Wong's further objections, the Sorcerer Supreme turned to Harry and asked gently:

"Harry, what do you think?"

Harry had never lacked courage. For a long time, he had been assisting Wong in eliminating various magical creatures that invaded Earth.

Rather than fear, he had been eagerly waiting for the chance to act alone!

"No problem, Master! I can handle it easily!" Harry thumped his chest confidently.

Seeing this, Wong sighed and had no choice but to agree.

After his initial worry, a smile spread across Wong's face.

He was genuinely curious—just how much power would Harry, with his immense chaotic magic, unleash in battle against a demon?

...

Kathmandu, Nepal.

By the artificial lake in the outskirts.

A crimson spatial rift flashed, and a humanoid, horn-covered, deep-red monster emerged from it.

It scanned its surroundings, its excitement growing until it burst into maniacal laughter:

"Hahaha, hahahaha, so this is Earth? How wonderful!

Demon flesh is so bland, where are the humans? Where are the women?

Hahaha, Earth is just as I imagined! Souls and flesh crawling everywhere like earthworms—I love it here! This is all too perfect!"

As a high-ranking demon, Echidna had always considered itself unlucky. But just now, it renounced its unfortunate demonic life.

It was incredibly fortunate! Never had it imagined it could actually reach Earth through a demonic ritual.

It would feed on the abundant souls of Earth, growing stronger until one day it could return to Hell and become a mighty Hell Lord!

Echidna looked ahead and saw several young humans staring at it in terror, their faces filled with fear.

Seeing this fearful gaze, Echidna grew even more excited:

"Tremble, humans, and offer up your souls!"

Echidna charged toward the few cowardly human insects ahead. With its strength, killing these humans would be effortless.

It couldn't wait to taste the flavor of fresh blood!

But just as it was about to pierce the chest of the first human with its claws, the surrounding space suddenly shattered like a mirror.

When it regained its senses, it found that while the environment remained unchanged, the scattered souls and flesh that had been everywhere were now gone.

At the same time, two mysterious robed mages appeared before it, ignoring it as they conversed with each other.

Wong cautioned once more:

"Harry, your magic is unstable, so you must remain calm at all times and steady your mana to prevent it from raging.

Remember the modified spell sequences the Sorcerer Supreme taught you. Don't make any mistakes, only then can you successfully cast your spells."

Harry showed no impatience at Wong's repeated reminders.

Having experienced the pain of a miserable past, he understood the value of being cared for.

He cherished the concern of others deeply.

Harry nodded firmly:

"Don't worry. Thanks to the spell sequences you and the Sorcerer Supreme modified, I can already cast many spells.

Dealing with this high-ranking demon won't be difficult for me!"

With that, he rushed forward without hesitation to engage the high-ranking demon in battle.

Seeing this, Wong sighed and focused on observing Harry's fight with the demon.

Harry was a good kid, he excelled in every way but for some reason, he was too reckless, unlike a mage.

Wong still remembered a past mission when he had taken Harry along, and the little guy had actually dared to fight a troll with nothing but a small stick!

Echidna had already been furious when the two mere human mages dared to ignore it and chat with each other.

Now, seeing Harry charging toward it, its face twisted with rage:

"Human mage souls must be of higher quality. Thank you for offering me such a feast so soon after my arrival!"

Harry ignored the demon's taunts. Wong had told him never to engage in conversation during battles with demons.

These creatures were deceitful and cunning, exceptionally skilled at tricking humans.

Harry activated the magic within him, and slabs of stone rose from the ground, sharpening into spiraled spikes that shot toward Echidna.

This was the most basic ability he had mastered. His magic seemed particularly suited to manipulating objects, and as his mana reserves grew, so did his control over them.

Dozens of sharp spirals struck Echidna, but while they pierced its scales, they couldn't penetrate deeply enough to be fatal, leaving it covered in wounds.

Injured, Echidna quickly shed its earlier condescending attitude. It realized this human mage was a formidable opponent, with strength undoubtedly on par with a high-ranking demon.

Thus, it began to take the battle seriously, relying on its defensive scales to endure the attacks and temporarily gain the upper hand.

Echidna swung its claw at Harry, the flames wrapped around its palm radiating scorching heat as it tore through Harry's robes.

If Harry hadn't dodged in time, the attack would have severely wounded him!

But instead of feeling fear, Harry's latent berserker spirit was fully ignited!

His face flushed with excitement as he traced a spell circle in the air, drawing forth a brilliant golden longsword.

The Sword of the Vishanti, a mage's melee weapon, enhanced by the Sorcerer Supreme's modifications and empowered by chaotic magic was now even more formidable.

Gripping the blade, Harry charged forward. This time, when Echnida's flaming claw struck, he didn't dodge. Instead, he swung his sword and cleanly severed the molten claw in one slash!
