Chapter 6 - The Guardian Spirits of the Bamboo island.

Stepping foot on the black sandy beach of the bamboo island felt like entering a different world. The air here was humid and cold, even under the scorching sun that penetrated the gaps in the bamboo leaves.

The sound of the waves crashing against the shore was muffled by the dense bamboo groves that grew so densely that they formed a towering green wall.

Kai and Luka walked slowly along the path that was almost covered by the dense plants. The sound of the bamboo leaves rustling in the wind sounded like soft whispers that they could not understand.

Sometimes, the sound sounded like angry murmurs, as if the spirits of the bamboo forest did not like their presence.

"Do you feel something, Kai?" Luka whispered, clenching her fists tightly.

He kept looking left and right, feeling watched by thousands of eyes hidden behind the bamboo stalks.

Kai fell silent, closing his eyes for a moment. He felt the presence of a strong energy on this island, different from the energy of the forest on his home island. Here, the energy felt wilder, more ancient, and wary.

He sensed the presence of many invisible entities, lurking among the bamboo groves, eyeing them with suspicion.

"Yes," Kai answered in a low voice.

"This island… is alive. But not a friendly life. We must respect this place."

The further they went into the bamboo forest, the more eerie the atmosphere became. The sunlight only managed to penetrate through the dense canopy of bamboo leaves, creating a mysterious, dim atmosphere.

Shadows danced between the bamboo stalks, often resembling strange figures that moved quickly before disappearing again.

Suddenly, Luka's steps stopped. Ahead of them, the path was blocked by several mysteriously fallen bamboo stalks, forming an impassable obstacle, though there was no sign of strong winds that could have caused the trees to fall.

"It's… like something doesn't want us to pass," Luka muttered in a worried tone.

Kai approached the fallen bamboo stubs. He touched them carefully, feeling the faint pulses of energy. The energy felt angry and wary.

"We must ask permission," Kai said suddenly.

He sat cross-legged in front of the bamboo barrier, closed his eyes, and began to focus his mind. He tried to send a peaceful message to the spirits of the bamboo forest, explaining their purpose in coming and their intention not to disturb them.

A few moments passed in tense silence. Luka could only watch Kai anxiously. Suddenly, the wind blew harder through the bamboo grove, producing a rustling sound that was louder and clearer.

Then, slowly, one of the bamboo stubs blocking their path moved on its own, moving aside, opening a gap wide enough for them to pass through.

Luka gaped at the scene.

"What… what was that?! The bamboo… moved! You… what did you do?! Kai… you did something?!"

Kai opened his eyes and nodded slowly.

"Yes. I tried to talk to them… in my own way. But we have to be careful. They don't fully trust us."

They continued on, passing through the gaps that had opened up. The whispers of the bamboo felt a little quieter now, but Kai still felt a strong sense of alertness from his surroundings. He knew that physical obstacles were just the beginning.

The deeper they went into the bamboo forest, the stronger the ancient aura became. They began to see moss-covered stone structures among the bamboo, remnants of an ancient civilization that might have built the temple they were looking for.

This bamboo island held secrets deeper than just a haunted forest.

Following the faint moss-covered stone trails, Kai and Luka made their way deeper into the heart of the bamboo island. The bamboo groves grew denser and taller, creating dark, winding natural passages.

The whispering sounds of bamboo were now mixed with other, more bizarre sounds. The whistling of the wind that sounded like groans, and the sound of crackling that had no clear origin.

Before they knew it, they arrived at a small clearing in the middle of the bamboo forest. In the middle stood an ancient, partially collapsed stone structure, covered by tree roots and vines.

The ancient aura in this place was very strong, emitting an energy different from the natural energy of the surrounding bamboo forest. This must be the remains of the temple they were looking for.

As they approached the ruins, a transparent figure suddenly appeared before them. The figure resembled an ancient warrior with worn clothes and an expressionless face.

In his hand was a spear that emitted a faint light. Luka flinched back in fear.

"That… that's a guardian ghost?! They said there was a guardian… but I didn't expect…" He whispered shakily.

The figure did not speak, but radiated a cold and threatening aura. Its spear was raised slowly, blocking their path to the ruins of the temple.

Kai felt the presence of this guardian spirit. His energy was filled with loyalty and vigilance, protecting this sacred place from anyone deemed unworthy. He knew they could not fight this supernatural being with physical strength. They had to prove their good intentions.

Kai stepped forward, taking out the protective talisman the Grandmother had given him and showing it to the warrior before him. He looked directly at the guardian with a calm but respectful gaze.

"We have not come to destroy or take by force," Kai said in a clear but gentle voice.

"We seek an ancient bamboo flute to soothe the disturbed Guardians of our island. We respect this place and its guardians."

The warrior remained still, his spear unmoving. The wind blew through the bamboo grove around them, producing a rustling sound that sounded like judgment.

Suddenly, Kai felt a tug from within him. He remembered the "language" of the forest he had learned since childhood.

He closed his eyes and tried to connect with the ancient energy of this place, with the bamboo spirits around him, and with the guardian standing before him.

He spoke no words, but radiated respect, concern for nature, and his determination to restore balance.

In his mind he described the languishing forest on his home island, the restlessness of the animals, and the hopes of his people. He also showed his respect for this holy place and the ancestors who guarded it.

A few tense moments passed. The silence was broken only by the sound of the wind through the bamboo. Slowly, the cold aura emanating from the guard began to subside. His spear was lowered slightly.

Although his face remained expressionless, Kai felt a shift in his energy, as if he was considering Kai's words and intentions.

Suddenly, from within the ruins of the temple, a soft and beautiful melody could be heard. It was like the sound of bamboo blowing in the wind, but more melodious and peaceful.

The guard turned toward the voice, and for a moment, Kai saw a trace of longing in his empty eyes.

After the sound stopped, the guard slowly disappeared, fading into nothingness. The path to the ruins of the temple was now open.

Luka stared at Kai with wide eyes.

"What… what happened? How did you do it?"

Kai took a deep breath.

"I… I tried to talk to them, in the way I could. I hope they understand."

The two of them walked carefully towards the ruins of the temple. Amidst the ruins, on a moss-covered stone altar, lay a flute made of dark brown bamboo.

The flute looked simple but exuded a strong ancient aura. This was the ancient bamboo flute they were looking for.

However, they knew that their journey was not over. They still had to learn how to use this flute and play the "Song of Harmony" to appease the furious Guardian.
