Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Battle

[ This chapter is rewritten because I thought previously it was short and not enjoyable. Sorry for mistake]

The next morning at U.A. started like any other, but there was an unusual energy in the air. Whispers floated across the classroom. Students exchanged excited glances. Midoriya was practically bouncing in his seat.

Ren sat in his usual spot by the window, calm and composed as always, though internally, he was curious too.

Aizawa walked in, eyes as tired as ever, but with a paper in his hand. He dropped it on the desk.

"Hero Basic Training begins today."

The room fell silent.

And then, the door slammed open with a loud crash.

"I AM HERE—COMING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A HERO!"

All Might entered in his muscular form, cape billowing behind him. His smile lit up the room.

"Hero Training today will be handled by me!"

Ren narrowed his eyes slightly. This was the moment he'd been waiting for. The real training. Not tests or lectures—fieldwork.

Training Field Alpha – Battle Trial

The class assembled outside, where All Might stood before several large suitcases. He opened them one by one, revealing the U.A. standard hero costumes, customized for each student.

"As heroes, your Quirks are important—but so is your image. These suits reflect your identity!"

The students changed, excitement buzzing in the air.

Ren walked out in a sleek navy-blue combat suit with black highlights. A silver sash wrapped around his waist, and two water compression tubes curled from his wrists to his elbows. The U.A. logo rested just above his heart.

Invisible Girl gasped audibly, though she was, of course, invisible. Momo blinked.

Even Jiro looked twice.

Ren smirked. "Like what you see?"

Jiro rolled her eyes. "Don't flatter yourself."

"Too late," he said with a wink, already walking toward the center of the field.

All Might announced the trial's rules. It was heroes versus villains. Two-on-two matches. Heroes would try to capture a nuclear core hidden inside the building. Villains would protect it.

Ren was paired with Yaoyorozu Momo.

Their opponents?

Bakugo Katsuki and Kaminari Denki.

Momo looked nervous. "Bakugo is going to be reckless… and Kaminari's electricity is unpredictable."

Ren gave her a calm look. "Then we outthink them. Stay near me, and do exactly what I say."

Momo blinked. "You're very sure of yourself."

"Trust me," he said. "I know how this ends."

They entered the building through the front entrance. The hallways were wide, shadowed, filled with corners and potential traps. Ren moved with caution, pressing his palm against the wall—moisture sensors in his suit sent faint vibrations through water in the air.

Momo summoned a shield. Ren conjured a thin layer of water around their bodies like armor.

A loud BOOM echoed through the floor. Bakugo was coming.

"Here he comes," Ren said.

Bakugo burst through the ceiling like a cannonball, explosions flaring from his hands.

"You again, Water Boy?! I'll blast you to pieces!"

Ren stood his ground. "You talk too much."

Bakugo launched forward, but this time, Ren reacted faster—much faster.

He moved like a blur, water propelling him across the floor. He met Bakugo head-on, absorbing the moisture in the air to push a compressed wave right into Bakugo's chest.

BAM!

Bakugo crashed into the wall.

"You're faster than before," Bakugo growled, wiping blood from his mouth.

Ren smiled faintly. "I get better every time I fight."

Bakugo screamed and launched again, but Ren wasn't there. A burst of vapor had created a temporary mist screen, and Ren reappeared behind him, locking Bakugo in a water-threaded trap that hardened around his arms.

"Still explosive, but easy to bait," Ren muttered.

Meanwhile, Momo was in a separate corridor, dodging electric blasts from Kaminari. She summoned rubber insulation plates to deflect the shocks, calculating her next move.

Kaminari wasn't dumb, but he wasn't Ren. His tactics were flashy, not sharp.

Then Ren arrived just in time, releasing a sudden burst of mist that blinded Kaminari.

"Now!" he called.

Momo tossed a rubber bola she had just created, trapping Kaminari's arms.

"Villain team captured. Hero team wins!" All Might's voice boomed.

Aftermath – Observation Room

The students watching were buzzing with reactions.

"That was insane," Kirishima said. "Ren's got moves."

"He's definitely strong," Midoriya whispered, taking notes. "But that water armor… I've never seen anything like it."

Momo sat beside Ren afterward, drinking water to calm her breath. "You predicted their movements."

Ren smiled. "Lucky guess."

She gave him a look. "You're lying."

He shrugged. "Maybe. But it worked, didn't it?"

"Still… thank you. You protected me back there."

His gaze softened for a moment. "That's what a hero does."

She blushed faintly, and he looked away, pretending not to notice.

Later – U.A. Rooftop

Ren stood alone again, watching the horizon. His suit was wet, but his skin was radiant with energy. He had absorbed just enough moisture during the fight to reenergize, not enough to raise suspicion.

He held out his palm.

Water curled in his hand, forming a small sphere.

He concentrated.

The water split into four floating blades.

His control was improving.

His strength—growing.

And no one knew.

Meanwhile – Melissa Shield (I-Island)

Far across the world, in a gleaming lab on I-Island, Melissa Shield sat watching U.A.'s entrance exam footage.

She paused at one frame.

Ren Takami.

"Hmm…" she murmured. "That Quirk… it's unique. Very efficient water control… but there's more to it."

Her father, David Shield, walked in. "Still watching hero school footage?"

Melissa smiled. "Just studying. Something tells me… he's going to be interesting."
