Aeon laid on his back.
He was on the rooftop of the quarters looking at the stars above. The sun had gone down, and the stars were extremely bright out. Each one twinkled like a diamond in the dark and luscious violet sky. The rain had stopped, but the ground was still damp.
It had been a few hours since Torvak had his battle, which Aeon had quietly attended, curious about how he fought. He was surprised at the immense power he had witnessed. Starting with watching Sereth, talking with Masaru, then watching Torvak, he had certainly had a busy day.
Each star shone brightly, reflecting in his gentle eyes. His gentle breaths displaced the cold air, as he reflected on the day.
"Talking with Masaru was nice." He thought to himself, "He's clearly sort of a loner, but he's nice and quiet."
He pondered on his conversation with Masaru, and how he wondered what his past had been like. That was something he would always think about. People's pasts, futures, and stuff like that. It was his absolute favorite.
"Hopefully Sereth and Masaru will become friends… They'll need to."
He began to feel sleepy and he stood up and approached the stairway to get back down to the quarters. He felt he was gonna need it.
"Oh… that's right, Masaru's first match is tomorrow. Maybe I should watch it. I should get a sense of who to be around…"
Aeon floated down the stairs and into the dimly lit corridor. The lights slightly flickered when he approached, as if the hall shivered when he approached. He glided along, looking for his room.
"Which one was mine again?" He pondered, scanning each room, trying to recollect which room he had. He heard a faint buzzing sound behind him, and turned to face one of the creatures.
"Ae-e-eon K-k-Kairos… You are not asleep? W-w-why?"
"Oh… Just stargazing."
The creature stoped, a little surprised by the boy's answer, but zoned his eyes in on his face and began to reply.
"W-w-well then-"
In an instant, the Creature appeared at the end of the hallway and walked around the corner, like he was teleported there. It bumbled off while emitting its buzzing sound.
Aeon nodded his head and smiled a tiny smile. "I remember now."
He approached one of the doors and went inside, and to bed. Where he quickly fell asleep, and dreamt of the swirling galaxy above him.
…
The next morning, he awoke and drifted right back up to the roof, and he stood there, to watch the sunrise, but Masaru was already there.
He sat in silence, meditating with his sword at his side. Aeon responded to his silence with silence of his own. The two were aware of each other.
No words were spoken.
…
The morning sky shone bright, and the contestants eagerly awaited for the creatures to arrive to tell them the schedule for the day. Aeon was calmly lying on his bed, thinking about things, when he heard a knocking and a buzzing at his door, he gently opened the door to come face to face with a Creature, who actually was taller than him.
"Aeon K-k-Kairos… your first battle is a-a-after Masaru Kagemori."
Aeon nodded his head, walked past the Creature, and glided down the stairwell. He intentionally didn't take a transporter, as he liked time to quietly gather his thoughts.
He walked into the entrance, found a seat, and began to wait. He was the first one there, but people very quickly started to file in and murmur among themselves about the oncoming match.
…
Sereth had heard that he didn't have any matches that day, so he decided to go watch to first match of the morning.
He walked into the brightly lit stadium, and started looking for a seat. It wasn't long before he found an open seat next to Aeon.
"Mind if I sit here?" Sereth asked.
"You already will." Aeon replied.
Sereth gave him a bit of a look, but sat down anyway.
"Do you know who's fighting in this match?" Aeon asked.
"That Samurai, right?"
"Yeah. Masaru Kagemori. The two of you would get along better if you learned his name, Sereth."
Sereth eyed him curiously, but he remembered that his name was announced to the stadium, so this boy must've been watching.
"Yeah…" he said, "Sure."
"My name is Aeon Kairos. It's good to have already known you."
Aeon nodded his head, and Sereth nodded back. Just then, the crowd began to cheer as the announcer's voice boomed through the arena.
"Welcome one and all, to the second day of the tournament! Today's matchup will keep the pace up, so let's introduce the first fighters! Coming out of the golden gate, is Masaru Kagemori! He is the descendent of a Samurai clan from Planet Horizumi! Let's give him a hand!"
The crowd gave a big cheer as Masaru slowly walked out of the gate, his topknot gently swayed, and his sword was securely fastened to his side. He gave no reaction to the crowd whatsoever.
"And coming from the red gate, Eldritch Ferriaus! He has a silly name, but he will kick your merry ass if you mess with him!"
There was a brief awkward silence after the announcer made his stupid joke, but the energy was very quickly picked up as the round began.
"And begin!"
"Let's see what this guys made of…" Aeon and Sereth both thought as they watched Masaru assume his stance.
