Chapter 50 - Chapter 50: To Retire Or Not

Seeing Marcus's hesitation, Logan continued; "Not for free of course. If it is a mainstream acupoint, then I'll give you a Tier 3 talisman. And if it's not, I'll transfer cash to your account. We'll set the price at the standard price for newly found acupoints, depending on whether it's a Major one or Minor."

"Okay, it's a Major Acupoint."

Hearing this, Logan became a bit more excited but it still didn't show on his face.

Describing an acupoint to another, one would have to have learned a bit about the human body from the perspective of a cultivator, and have learned of how the inner parts are labelled.

Directing Logan according to his memory, Marcus made sure to be careful with his words, so as not to mistakenly hurt his teammate. But it seemed as though the person he was worried about didn't care.

A few minutes went by before Logan was able to locate the Acupoint. Suddenly, a vortex of Wilder Force appeared in the room, channeling the energy from the surroundings and infusing it into the acupoint that he was attempting to clear.

The commotion created a force that pushed Marcus back a certain distance.

A muffled explosion came from his body and the vortex vanished. And then everything returned to silence. Logan opened his eyes.

"This isn't a mainstream acupoint… if anything, it's a rare one. It's so stable and strong that it required a lot of Wilder Force." He muttered as he raised his head and looked at Marcus.

"How many more are there? I'll buy each one 10% higher than its original price."

An intangible energy wrapped around Marcus and dragged him closer. Logan didn't mean any harm, he was just excited.

As for Marcus, he didn't mind. Logan was offering him money. At the same time, he wasn't going to sell Logan everything, just enough to make some money to get him started. He truly believed that once he began his path on cultivation, he would be able to locate more.

Perhaps even realize all the acupoints hidden in a human's body. He wouldn't mind selling all his findings on acupoints. What he wanted to find out the most was what those threads that connected to a miniature him were.

"Eight of them, since you've found one, I can sell the remaining seven to you."

It seems like my generosity in letting him use the library for free is enough to convince him to sell this to me. If he had gone to an auction house, he would have made ten times or even more, of what I'm offering… well, he shouldn't be sad, he's too weak to guard such things himself anyways.

I'll first sell it to Captain, and then the others, and take it to an auction house.

Logan's bones trembled in excitement as the thought of money filled his head.

"Before we proceed, I have to ask this. Will the money I get from you be enough to buy Blood Essence and a few ounces of beast blood?"

"Blood Essence. At your stage, anything above level 50 should be borderline dangerous for you. So if it's just a common beast or uncommon one—level 50 and under, the money will be more than enough… how about this, I'll also throw in a few drops of Blood Essence and some ounces of blood from some level 70 beasts."

"Alright." Marcus nodded his head. He was satisfied with that.

He proceeded to direct Logan and it didn't take long for him to find the seven acupoints. Just like the first one he opened, these acupoints were stable and strong.

Logan got up and walked to his table, bringing out his phone, With a few taps, he sent some money to Marcus.

It didn't take long a minute and Marcus received it. Bringing out his phone, Marcus froze. He counted the zeros behind a few times before looking up at Logan.

Nineteen million Credits!

With a snort, Logan dropped his phone. "If this much money has you star-struck, then you'll have to tighten your belt. In our world, the world of cultivators and awakeners, Credits is the cheapest currency to transact with. This much will be gone as soon as you step into the market."

Swallowing the saliva that had gathered in his mouth, Marcus spoke. "Thank you," he said sincerely.

Logan waved his hand, "No need for that. Honestly, you would have gotten a lot more if you had gone to an auction." He revealed. "Don't think that I'm trying to use you, but, even if you had taken it to an auction house in the city, you'll probably be kidnapped after or even killed. You're still too weak to be doing such things."

To Marcus, the money he received was something he never thought he would be able to afford in his lifetime. His salary barely reached eighty thousand Credits, even after receiving bonuses.

The house that he bought in the First Ring cost him north of two hundred thousand. He had to live frugally for a few months to afford the building, then came his siblings' school fees, accessories, and feeding…

All of this was his bills, his financial burdens. Receiving this type of money made him feel like all his toiling and laboring for the past few years were all for naught. Being able to earn money this way felt so easy.

The thought of retiring from the military crossed his mind. But he shook it off immediately. The urge to be complacent with this much was tempting, but that would mean forfeiting quite a few things.

Against his rationale, Marcus didn't think he would be satisfied leaving this world yet.

By the time Marcus snapped out of his thoughts, Logan had already dropped a crate of metal bottles in front of him. And then a smaller box that felt a bit heavy.

"Here's a crate of Level 70 fish blood, and then a box of their Blood Essence." He pointed out as he began walking towards the exit. "You can cultivate at the back, just try not to damage anything. I'll be back, I'm going to meet Captain." He added in a good mood.

Unaware of what Logan was going to do. Marcus picked the crate up and went to the back of the library, then came back for the box. He almost couldn't contain his excitement to start putting into practice the thoughts he had in his mind.
