Chapter 2 - The storm

Viktor's pov-

Rain drummed against the roof of the black Mercedes like impatient fingers. Inside, Viktor Kael, exhaled a slow stream of cigarette smoke, his sharp gaze fix outside. The city outside was a blur, just how he liked it.

"Boss," Ron, his loyal assistant muttered from the driver's seat, nodding toward the traffic light ahead. "We've got eyes on the recent deal."

Viktor didn't answer. His attention was on something else—a figure stepping into the street.

A girl.

She wasn't running from the rain. She wasn't even hurrying. She moved like she had all the time in the world, her sneakers splashing through puddles as if they weren't ruining her shoes.

And then she stopped—right in front of his car.

Viktor's fingers tightened around his cigarette.

She looked straight at him and mouthed, "How are you doing?" With a cute smile.

A shy, flustered smile of a stranger who'd accidentally made eye contact with a man in a luxury car. But of course she wasn't a stranger, she was an university student, chasing after Victor for months.

.

.

.

Akira Ren had rehearsed this moment 47 times in her head.

She knew the exact angle to tilt her head so her rain-damp hair would cling to her cheekbones just cutely. Knew how long to hold Viktor's stare before blinking—not too fast (nervous), not too slow (creepy).

Just enough to be lovely.

Victor felt surge of annoyance though him at her cute smile and mouthed to her "leave..."

As if saw his telling her leave she pout, before turned and walked away, her heart pounding—not from fear, but from the thrill.

"He is soo damn handsome and hot!" She thought...

Viktor didn't move until Akira had disappeared around the corner.

*"What the hell was that?"* Ron growled.

Viktor stubbed out his cigarette. *"Told you about that brat? Juat chasing afterme for month's."*

Ron nod and sigh before started driving again as soon as the traffic signal.

The car stopped infront of a huge mansion as Victor walked out of car. Ron too get out of car but pause, "There's a note here!" Ron say pointing at the car's body.

A single piece of paper, totally dump.

Viktor grab it and unfolded it.

"Dear Viktor,

You always park here on Thursdays. (Bad habit for a man with enemies. Please take care.)

A muscle jumped in Viktor's jaw.

*"Whoever it is they knows your name," Ron said, voice low. "Eho could be it?"

Viktor crumpled the note in his fist angrily.

He didn't like puzzles. And he can suspect who left this. He grab another cigarette and start smoking while loat in thought while Ron just sigh silently and stand by his side.

Next morning-

Warm sunlight streamed through the university courtyard. Akira sat on the grass, scrolling through her phone.

"You're weirdly happy for someone who got drenched yesterday," Kai, her best friend said, sitting down beside her.

Akira didn't look up from phone. "I like rain."

Kai huff. "You like something else, too." He nodded toward her phone "Or should I say… someone?"

Akira gave kai a side eye before focus back on her phone.

Kai grinned proudly. Before pull out his own phone.

He opened the phone and scrolled through something. The he laughed, but his eyes were sharp. "Careful, Ren. That guy's not the type you flirt with. He's a mafia.

Akira smiled and slow.

"I know."
