Chapter 4
Orien woke to the smell of what he thought was bacon. He loved bacon, it was his favorite meat. He sat up and rubbed his eyes but didn't see Ray next to him. He hastily stepped out of his room only to find Ray cooking on the stove. "why are you cooking this early in the morning". Ray jolted and spun around from surprise, nocking over the pan he was cooking with. Just as they had both realized what had occurred, a strong surge of pain shot through the right half of Ray's body. Ray slammed onto the floor and when he looked up at Orien, all he could see was his horrified expression looking back at him. Tears pricked his eyes as he began to panic.
Orien was horrified, he had caused this and he felt it was his fault. He quickly got to work, he went over to Ray to see the severity of his injuries. He was shocked, they were far worse than he imagined. The majority of his right leg was covered in burning hot oil , with his arm having the same outcome. It had somehow reached bits of his face as well. Orien decided the best course of action was to call the ambulance, and that he did. By the time the ambulance came Orien had gently washed off the oil and Ray was gripping him tight. Orien reassured Ray that he wouldn't leave his side and that they would both get through this.
As the ambulance reached the hospital they told Orien that they would have to put Ray under anesthetic. Reluctant but determined he agreed, hoping this would ease the pain for Ray.
Ray kept his eyes fixated on his lover, who was holding his uninjured hand. He partially heard a man talking to Orien about something he couldn't quite make out. He saw Orien glance at him and then continue talking to the man. A little later he felt a sudden tiredness wash over his body. He gave in, assuming it was anesthetic kicking in. Orien felt Ray's grip loosen and proceeded to stare at him, his face still etched with concern. It was really hard for Orien to prevent his demon form from showing because of the intensity of the emotions he was feeling. He was radiating rage and despair and everyone in the ambulance could feel it. Orien was growing increasingly aggravated by the minute.(fuck, fuck, fuck please be alright Ray. Please…. I need you. If you don't get better I will never be able to forgive myself.)
Ray flicked his eyes open, but everything was out of focus. As his eyes returned to normal he saw a familiar face. It was Orien, but something was off. He looked run down, really tired, like he hadn't slept in days. In truth Orien never left the side of his bed. Even though he was told to leave multiple times he refused. He made sure to never fall asleep incase Ray woke up. "how are you feeling love?". Ray tried to speak, but his voice was horse. He managed a smile as he tried to sit up but as soon as he did felt a surge of dizziness and flopped back down onto the bed.
Hours were spent catching up on the current situation. And as days turned into weeks the road to recovery continued. There bond had grown ever stronger and so did there love. Ray was left with some scars but no permanent injuries. He jokingly asked Orien not to jump scare him again. Orien didn't find it as funny, but he did promise not to.
