Chapter 5 - Exit from the Forest

The next morning, the storm will abate, and they were able to continue their journey. They walked for a few hours, and finally, Zephyr saw the town of Brindlemark on the horizon.

"We're almost there," Zephyr naturally said, smiling reassuringly at his friends.

We continued walking through the forest, the mighty trees becoming fewer after some time. Suddenly, hideous creatures emerged from the darkness, their black wings beating the air.

"Nyx!" Lyra shouted, drawing her sword from its scabbard.

The Nyx lunged at us, their sharp claws ready to tear us apart. Kael transformed into a tiger and struck the creatures, his teeth and claws ready to shred them apart.

I unsheathed my sword and lunged at the Nyx, my movements quick and precise. My enchanted sword sliced the aggrieved air, leaving a trail of light behind it.

Lila promptly drew her bow and fired an arrow that struck a Nyx in mid-flight, shattering it into a thousand pieces.Thorne crudely drew his sword and contained the creatures, his movements fluid and deadly.

Elianore utilized her powers to generate the wind and repelled the Nyx, while Rowan expanded plants that hindered the creatures. The fight was intense and chaotic, the Nyx attacking from all sides. But we were well-trained and fought with precision and coordination.Kael transformed into a wolf and attacked the Nyx ferociously, his teeth and claws tearing through flesh. Lyra fought with her sword, her movements quick and precise.

I fought with my sword, parrying the Nyx's attacks with precision. My sword sliced through the air, leaving a trail of light behind it.Lila continued to fire arrows, aiming precisely at the Nyx. Each arrow struck its target with absolute precision.Ultimately, we succeeded in defeating the Nyx, and the forest was silent once again. We looked at each other, breathless but victorious.

After defeating the Nyx, we continued walking, the trees becoming increasingly scarce. They quickened their pace, eager to reach the city and begin their quest. Zephyr felt curious, but he knew he was ready for what lay ahead. The city of Brindlemark was in sight, with its towers and walls that seemed to stretch into infinity. Zephyr felt a little intimidated, but he knew they would soon discover the city's secrets.

The city was immense, with towering buildings and crowded streets. But what struck us was the poverty and squalor that reigned in the streets.

Humans, elves, and vampires walked the streets, but there were equally creatures we had never encountered until now, like trolls and goblins.Brindlemark was one the city still free from the angels influence but the state of the city was horrible.

Thorne looked around, his gray eyes analyzing the situation.

"This city is rife with corruption and poverty," he said. "We must be careful."

Aria nodded, looking at the people walking the streets.

"Indeed, there is a lot of suffering here," she said. "We must try to do something."

But what shocked us most was seeing slaves, chained and treated like animals.

"How is that possible?" Rowan asked, looking at the slaves in horror.

Lila shook her head, watching the people walk by without reacting.

"People are blind to the suffering of others," she said. "They can only see their own interests."
