Chapter 55 - From Cheater To Stalker

New Entry: Extra – Archive Log

It is I—your beautiful, elegant, generous, kind, and currently very annoyed and infuriated version of yourself.

You want to know what got me so mad, angry, and furious? You're curious, right?

Of course you know! Obviously, you're not curious! After all, you saw it too, didn't you?

You saw how Mr. Arezu is cheating on me, RIGHT?!

After everything I've done for him!

After he confessed his feelings to me!

Aren't I always generous and kind to him?

Aren't I always putting his happiness above my own?

How dare he cheat on me!

It all started the day after Mr. Arezu and I fought side by side, entrusting our lives to one another and believing in each other's strength to defeat those villains who refused to acknowledge our partnership—the day after we fought to prove ourselves worthy of the title Dungeon Conqueror.

Honestly, I still can't believe how exhilarating that fight was. It probably strengthened our bond even more. Yet the moment I was gone—Mr. Arezu dared to cheat on me!

How did it happen, you ask? Let me give you the full details of Mr. Arezu's betrayal.

The day after our challenge, Mr. Arezu and I met again at Mr. Broody's weapon shop to commission a new halberd-axe for him from my friend, Beatrix.

Beatrix is still mad at Mr. Arezu for breaking the previous halberd-axe she made. She specifically said it was his fault that the weapon broke—not because the quality of the weapon she made was inferior to Mr. Rust's buster-sword. According to her, if Mr. Arezu had fought and used his weapon properly, the halberd-axe wouldn't have gotten destroyed.

Well, half of what Beatrix said probably comes from her pride as a crafter and blacksmith.

Regardless, she accepted the job of crafting a new halberd-axe for Mr. Arezu.

On a side note, Mr. Broody keeps nagging Mr. Arezu to use the new enchanted halberd-axe he made. Mr. Arezu, however, refused—which threw Mr. Broody into despair.

Obviously, my kind-hearted self couldn't bear to see Mr. Broody suffer. So, out of pure generosity, I convinced Mr. Arezu to change his mind.

And guess what? Well, you don't have to guess. After all, you also saw that enchanted halberd-axe shatter into pieces, right?

Pfft!... Hahaha!...

Seriously, seeing the mortified look on Mr. Broody's face—you laughed too, didn't you?

Mr. Broody kept asking what happened. Even Beatrix wanted to know. But of course, it's not like Mr. Arezu would reveal his secret to them. He hasn't even told me yet.

Tsk!

But it's not like I didn't know the reason.

Of course I know! Who do you think I am? Who do you think we are?

It's because of Mr. Arezu's mysterious dungeon-like power. But to put it simply, Mr. Broody crafted that enchanted halberd-axe under the assumption that a human with a normal flow of mana and soul would use it.

Like I said before, Mr. Arezu's mana flows differently than that of an ordinary person—and probably his soul too. So obviously, that enchanted halberd-axe wouldn't work.

How do I know? Our eccentric eyes, remember? Mr. Arezu isn't the only one with a mysterious power here.

Anyway, after wrapping up our business for the day, I told Mr. Arezu that I'd be busy and needed some time off for a few days. You already know I've been gathering information about that strange evolved goblin, so let's skip that part.

Because this is where Mr. Arezu's cheating began!

When I got back and went to the Adventurers' Guild, that's when I caught Mr. Arezu red-handed, right in the act—going on a quest with other adventurers!

How dare he form a party with other adventurers when he already has me?! I was only gone for a few days!

How dare he go on an adventure without me—without telling me or asking for my approval first?!

So, I did what I had to do. I followed Mr. Arezu that day to uncover his affairs.

The adventurers he's currently having affairs with are none other than Mr. Gargoyle's party.

That gargoyle... perhaps he needs a bit of a beating to finally learn his place. And Mr. Arezu too.

On that note, Mr. Arezu already has his new halberd-axe. If I had known that giving him a weapon while I was away would lead to him cheating on me, I should've left him defenseless.

But how could I?

Once again, here I am—putting the needs of others before my own—only to be betrayed.

Enduring my suffering, I trailed Mr. Arezu on his quest, which involved hunting a group of Minotaurs that had been spotted near the southern road of the capital.

If you don't know, Minotaurs are mid-level 2-meter-tall humanoid-bull monsters, infamous for their brutal, rage-filled nature. Normally, Minotaurs possess just enough intelligence to wield weapons. However, due to the Curse of Gluttony corrupting their monster cores, they can learn magic by devouring humans and other monsters. Additionally, their attacks are even slightly effective against defensive divine blessings.

Regardless, they're not monsters Mr. Arezu would have any trouble defeating.

With Mr. Arezu teaming up with Mr. Gargoyle's party, they easily took down four Minotaurs. They ambushed them, took out one immediately, and worked together to finish off the remaining three.

Well, even if it were just the two of us, Mr. Arezu and I could've taken down those five Minotaurs easily.

After the fight, they dismantled the monsters for materials and burned the remains—usual, boring stuff. But what's interesting is that Mr. Arezu specifically asked for all the monster cores as his share of the loot.

He didn't even ask for any of the other materials. What's more, he didn't even want a share of the reward once they got back to the Adventurers' Guild.

Is he acting like some kind of clueless country bumpkin again? Has he still not realized how important money is? I swear, I'll have to make him understand.

Anyway, I thought he'd sell the monster cores for cash. But after following him all day, he did none of that. He just kept them until he returned to the inn he's been staying at.

That's right! I finally found out which inn Mr. Arezu is staying in.

And that's it! That's the story of how Mr. Arezu cheated on me.

Who am I kidding? Of course, that's not all. He probably had more affairs a few days ago too.

You're fuming too, right? You're irritated too, right? You want to murder Mr. Arezu, don't you?

Well, you can't.

But I could.
