Chapter 1 - Chapter one: The day it all fell apart

I woke up this morning with a smile on my face. I don't even know why — maybe because the sun felt warmer than usual or because my favorite song randomly played on my phone. I told myself, "Today will be a good day." But I was wrong. So, so wrong.

At school, everything started normal. I met up with Ire, my best friend since forever. She waved at me from across the school gate, her braids bouncing as she laughed with a few other girls. I smiled and waved back, expecting her to wait for me like she always did. But she didn't.

She turned around and walked away with them. Just like that. I tried to catch up, pretending it didn't hurt. Maybe she didn't see me. Maybe she was in a hurry. But deep down, I knew she saw me. She just didn't care.

Then came English class — my favorite. I was hoping to finally sit beside Bryant. I'd planned a whole conversation in my head about how hard yesterday's assignment was. But when I got to class, he was already seated… beside Ire. And they were laughing about something. Together.

It felt like my chest tightened. I told myself it didn't matter. It shouldn't. But it did.

As the day dragged on, the little things kept piling up. Someone 'accidentally' pushed me in the hallway. My math test came back with a big red 5/10. The teacher asked a question, and when I answered, everyone laughed. Not because I was funny — but because I was wrong.

By lunchtime, I just wanted to disappear. I sat alone at the back of the cafeteria, pretending to be busy on my phone while everyone else talked and laughed like they were in a movie, and I was just some extra sitting in the shadows.

When I finally got home, I slammed my room door shut, dropped my bag, and collapsed on my bed. I didn't even cry. I was too tired to. Instead, I reached for my old purple diary — the one I haven't touched in months — and opened to a fresh page.

Dear Diary,Today was supposed to be a good day. I really thought it would be. But it wasn't.It was the day everything fell apart.
