Synopsis
A regular trek in the woods, something that was ever so mundane for Andrew as he went along with his friends till they came to an abandoned old house that seemed deserted. Naïve and ignorant as they had failed to tell anyone about their whereabouts. Ballsy as the crew were, they ventured deep inside however little did they know that it would be their biggest regret. A step into the house spelt their doom. "Let's split up and see if we can get anything valuable." Shortly after, a scream could be heard and making his way to the source, he had to trudge with care due to the poor state of the floor boards. Making his arrival at the door, he opened it with a bang, eager to help his friends out. The ten year old boy couldn't believe what was in front of him. His face horrified as he controlled his urge to vomit however he couldn't bear it! Just as he was about to leave and get help, backing up, he felt a tall figure behind him and before he could look around, he was knocked out cold.

Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Trio

"Okay Andy, be back by 4 pm." The sound of a mother rang as her tender and warm tone was directed at her only son, Andrew who was getting ready to go outside.

A twelve year old kid was pleased as he darted out of the house. "Thanks mom!" He voiced back as his voice grew more faint. His mother Jesse gave a slight chuckle as she saw his figure leave.

He had closed for the holidays and without a doubt, he was ready to spend his time having fun. The ideal plan for any kid at his age. He lived in the suburbs, proud of it as he was close to all of his friends.

It was the ideal place as he had everything on that block. It was safe for kids along with the proximity of the houses, it wasn't strange that he knew almost all of his neighbors and kids on the block.

He had three of them but he was more than content with it as he made his way to their neighbor next door.

*Knock-Knock-Knock*

Eager to get it going, he was already at one of his friends place. The door slowly creaked and a lady in her thirties opened. She looked at the guest that was on her front porch, a smile resting on her face.

She was familiar with Andrew's presence as he was a close friend of his son, Kevin. Andrew had deep and profound obsidian black eyes which radiated his eagerness at the moment. His deep dark hair coupling his eyes made it a sight to take in his appearance.

His taunt muscles which were packed with energy as his eyes landed on Miss Clara's face. She had a vibrant blue hue tint to her hair that stretched down to her waist level.

She had a warm and calm air around her as her figure was fitting for a mother. Despite her age, she seemed rather young for one to even consider that she was even a mother.

"Andrew! You're here early!" She mused as she opened the door for him. She was used to his presence in her house to the point that at times she would profile him as a son she never had with how frequent he used to stay at her place.

Andrew wasn't a strange at Clara's house as he thanked her for welcoming him in. "Thank you Miss Clara. Is Kevin done with his homework?" He posed as his eyes landed upstairs.

"He should be finishing up. But wait..." Clara trailed off into the kitchen and appeared once more with a tray in her hands. "For the both of you two." It was a glass of refreshing juice along with some tasty treats.

"Thank you Miss Clara." Andrew expressed his gratitude as a smile was etched on his face. "It's nothing. Just make sure you don't trip while going up, okay?" Her tone soft and gentle equaling that of a mother.

"I will, Miss Clara." He then made his way up towards the stairs. The house was filled with all kinds of various artifacts which seemed to be mementos from the trips Miss Clara and her husband had gone.

He had inspected the pictures mounted on the walls various times as he posed his questions. He was baffled that Kevin's parents had travelled all over the globe which further fueled his interest.

And it was a trait that Kevin picked up from his parents as he was just as curious as them, the trio going out on journeys to other neighborhoods and other sites which caught their interest.

And it was because of this that had landed them in trouble several times over and over again however they didn't view it as a hinderance rather an obstacle they had to overcome.

Presented to him was a hallway which stretched to the very end with numerous rooms to its sides. Conversant with the layout, he went two doors to the left before making a light knock to it.

The figure of a boy who was about the same age as him with slight differences. Unlike his deep obsidian eyes, his eyes had a deep blue tint to them, a trait he had inherited from his mother.

His brown hazelnut ruffled hair which fluxed a chaotic air around him however his current demeanor was joyous as he met his visitor. "Andrew!" He exclaimed with joy.

"Oh, Andrew's here." Another voice came from behind Andrew however he didn't need to know who it was. "What do you want Diana?" Kevin asked with a bit of hostility in his voice.

Andrew was aware of the tension that was present between Kevin and his sister. 'Sibling rivalry is all.' Miss Clair had told him was what it was. Diana who was sixteen years old swooped a cookie from the tray that was in Andrew's hands.

"Mmmh! This is actually good." She praised as she made her way downstairs. "Diana! I'll tell mom!" Kevin proclaimed as he saw how unruly his sister was. "Just ignore her." Andrew intercepted.

"Yeah, just pretend that I'm not here. If you were more like Andrew then we wouldn't be at each others necks all the time." She added on as her figure finally disappeared beneath the flight of stairs.

Kevin was ready to give chase however seeing Andrew here, he gave up as he welcomed her in. Kevin's room was filled with all kinds of racing car thematic settings.

Automobiles had always fascinated him and so did Andrew however the latter was more into space. Andrew placed the tray on a small table as he crashed into Kevin's bed, taking the sight of the room.

Kevin on the other hand made himself busy with the treats that Andrew had brought along with him. He looked at the books that were on his bed as he sighed. "You're still not done with your homework?"

His host who was piping down the cookies shifted his attention back to Andrew, his mouth muffled. "W-hat? Its...mmm...not lik-e... we're going... bac-k t-o school...anytime soon..."

His words hard to discern with the cookies shoved in his mouth. "But still. Knowing how easy you forget, its best that you deal with it as soon as possible."

"Ahhh!" After washing it down with a refreshing glass of juice, he was finally audible. "Then help yourself if you want to do it. I'm going out to play with Trevor."

Andrew gave up as he knew that trying to convince him would be waste of time and he didn't want to waste his time arguing. "Okay, lets go." He mused as he quickly drank his juice.

Given that Kevin had already helped himself with the cookies, there wasn't much left for him however he didn't care as the jet out of Kevin's room and out of the house.

"Wait! Kevin, have you finished your homework?" The two were brought to a halt on the porch. "Uh, yeah. Mom" Kevin shot back as his eagerness could not be contained, hastily putting on his shoes.

Without waiting for a response from her mother, Kevin had already taken his leave to which Andrew could only casually follow as the two made their way towards Trevor's house.

The two arrived at a house that blended in seamlessly with the rest as they made their way to the front porch. Kevin taking the initiative to ring the doorbell as the two waited patiently for a response.

"Urgh! Who is it?" Am irritated voice rang as it surveyed the area before landing on the two boys. Trevor's father worked from home which was fine by him however people weren't all bought by this.

"Oh! It's you two hellions! Trevor! Your shitty excuse for friends are here." His voice echoed throughout the house. The two were used to seeing Trevor's father in such a state.

"Oh, Okay." A timid voice rang which was a stark contrast to the first and in a matter of time, Trevor's figure was present. He was a year behind the two however given his physique, he seemed to be in the same age bracket as the two.

He had dark hair which was similar to Andrew's however what set the two apart was that unlike deep and dark eyes, Trevor had hazel grey eyes which was faintly visible at the tips of his hair as well.

Unlike Kevin's outgoing attitude or Andrew's persistence, he was intellectually gifted and would help the two out. Andrew always open for some enlightenment while Kevin was a little more prudent when it came to academics.

"Wanna go to the park?" Kevin posed as he was leaving as if the two had already agreed to it. Given that they had nothing else to do, they could only follow Kevin.

The park wasn't that far off from where they resided thus after a few minutes, they arrived and it would seem that they weren't the only one's present who had the same idea.

Seeing how cramped the park was, the three were greatly discouraged from advancing any further. "To think that it would be this packed. Ugh! We have to find elsewhere to play for the day."

"Or we could go back to your home and finish off your homework.? Andrew's voice could be heard which was met with hostility from Kevin. "Besides anything work related, do you have a better idea?"

"Wait, you haven't finished your homework?" Trevor asked as the two walked past the pit sand. They went deeper to where a crowd of people could be seen enjoying the day.

"Can we stop talking about that and focus on something else?" Kevin tired of the subject that he had yet to finish off his homework. "Ignoring it won't solve it, Kevin."

Trevor further added which brought Kevin to come to an unprecedented halt on the gravel path. The sun was still up but luckily there were numerous trees shielding the trio along with the patches of people in the grass.

"Bring it up one more time, I dare both of you!" His face was unsightly as the two looked at it. "Okay, fine. Let's focus on something else like where we're going to play."

Andrew understanding the situation changed the topic. He had always been the diffusor when he was associated with Kevin. Kevin had always been a little rebellious and the two knew it.

Getting into fights wasn't something that they hadn't heard before. Excuses were always near him along with his brutish antics however the two no matter how hard they tried failed to change that aspect of him.

It wasn't just them two, from his parents to his teachers had counselled him on the dangers of what he saw as a rush of adrenaline however they too fell flat.

"Yeah, it looks like we will have to go the climbing structures. But we will have to deal with that bastard Kyle." Kevin posed as they came across the climbing structure.

Unlike before, this was way less congested however a familiar figure the three were accustomed to seeing was here as well. Kyle. Kevin and Kyle had some enmity between the two.

"To think that I'd see you here, Kevin. Don't you have some homework to do?" The relationship however between Kyle and the other two was mostly neutral as they never actually crossed paths.

But at times lines were crossed and they found themselves entangled within one of Kevin's feuds. 'Why does everyone keep bringing it up?!' Kevin mused in his head as he looked at Kyle. The two were roughly the same height however Kyle was slightly taller than him.

A fiery set of amber eyes which was complimented with his golden hair. He did have the looks and whether Kevin admitted it or not, he had to come to terms.

He was a popular figure within school grounds due to his aptitude in terms of athleticism and other physical related fields. Trevor was a whiz in academics while Andrew was above average but nothing noteworthy while Kevin was in another category of his own.

But as of recently, Kevin was extremely irked by Kyle's presence as he was the reason as to why he was suspended from participating from any extra curricular activities for the rest of the year which was a damper to him as he was to face an important match once schools would reopen.
