Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1

In a four bedroom flat building.

The clinging sound of plate clashing into one another in a tray as the were placed gently on the table almost not making a sound.

Ding!!!!!!!!

The sound of iron doors opening and closing suddenly broke the silence reigning in the room diverting everyone's attention and bringing a little liveliness into the room

"What is that?" An old woman asked. She layed down on a three seater, her eyes were partly closed and one could see layers of wrinkle forming like waves on her face. Her empty and emotionless eyes instantly brightened as she watched a young girl walk in with a tray in her hand

"The wind seems to be quite much, causing the gate to bang into each other" she explained slowly knowing the old woman's hearing already deteriorated.

Lucy carefully brought the tray near the old, assisting the woman to seat, giving a reassuring smile that never left her face.

The old lady let out a soft grunt as she sat up, she also smiled back dissolving any worry that already showed up on Lucy's face.

The old lady quietly ate her food with Lucy monitoring her every move as to make sure she won't choke. The atmosphere wasn't in an awkward silence at all in-fact it looked like a painting. Two generations having one of the best times of their lives or so was it, not until when the scene changed into something unimaginable.

Lucy body shook violently that her knees gave way and she fell to the floor, watching how blood flowed down endlessly from the old lady's chest to the floor painting it red.

"Ahhhhhhhh!!!!" Lucy screamed in terror, uncontrollable tees flowed down her chin non stop

" no!! no!! This can't be.....no it can't" she cried repeatedly, looking up she noticed a girl standing five feet away from the woman with knife in her hand dripping with blood.

Lucy covered her mouth in disbelief, this person was the one who murder her grandmother, this was the killer.

Her eyes reddened in anger but she dared not act rashly, the girl's presence was quite overwhelming.

"Who are you?" She asked her voice a little hoarse from over crying. Lucy looked at the figure standing before her, the room fell into a second of silence. Lucy hesitated before getting on her feet, her arms were still trembling, just as she was about to break the silence, the figure slowly turned around revelling half of her face, a sly smile rose on her lip.

Tinnnn!!!!

"Argh, finally class is over!!" Students sighed in relief as they packed their books ready to go home

"Don't forget to try the question at home it may be part of your exam question, no excuses I can call out anyone tomorrow to solve it on the board" the teacher reminded before heading out with books in his hand

Disturbed by the noise, Lucy brows twitched she quickly cover her eyes because of the sudden by light, she wiped off the sweat on her forehead, slowly opening her eyes looking around, confirming her location she sighed in relief.

As expected she fell asleep in class again and no one bothered to wake her up not even the teacher, she felt a little sad. Memories of her dream flashed in her mind, clenching her hand she felt relieved at least it was all a dream, a dream that has been happening for several months to worsen the case everything was as vivid as what happened a few month ago.

Brushing the thought away, she wiped her face with her handkerchief, packed her books and stood up to leave.

As if a terrifying teacher just walked in,the whole class fell into utter silence as she stood up,all eyes on her containing lot of unsaid words.

Lucy clenched her fist righty on her bag,she was used to this, those unsaid words filled in their eyes fear, ridicule, suspicion, hatred and anger, nshe was used to them all, she cleared her throat awkwardly and walked out of the class with her head down avoiding their gaze.

Immediately she left, the class resumed back to the original atmosphere

"Tsk tsk, at such age, she's already a suspect!"

"How could she even do that? Killing her own grandmother, isn't that cruel?"

"just like the saying goes, your closest kin is your greatest enemy,,it's better to ignore people like them"

"I don't know why the police haven't kept her in custody yet, people like them should be electrocuted"

Several students expressed their thoughts, the tone not hiding how they felt towards the matter, it's already been three months now and yet things just got worse.

In a quiet alley, Lucy walked slowing in her own lost it thought, maybe it was just insecurity or not but she could just feel it whenever people express their resentment towards her,her heart would tighten seeming hard too breathe and sometimes she would just break down in tears.

Her whole life was filled of sad memories, her mom died after her childbirth, she used to live alone with her father who suddenly got rich and her grandmother who come by once in a week to visit, years later her father died a mysterious death of internal bleeding, she then moved in with her grandmother was murder three month ago,all her other relative abandoned her thinking she was a bad omen left all alone, to worsen the case, people thought she was the one who killed her grandmother, investigation a knife was found in her grandmother room, she had been stabbed five times in chest and the she later unconscious beside the knife.

She was hated and feared by people all around her not once had she ever felt that homey love and peace of mind not even once, just as a tear was about to drop a nonchalant voice interrupted her thought

"What's so nice about starring at the sky?" Thaddeus said as he stretched and yawn lazily, he the stuffed a white nylon into her hands, Lucy was startled at first but soon she regained her wits and instantly wanted to return it.

"Don't even think about it or it will end in the bin" his lazy and nonchalant aura slowly turned cold as he continued "you've had nothing today not even water and I'm sure you won't cook this night as well so it's your choice now eat this or…" he said pointing at the waste bin.

Lucy chuckled, he knew how to get her, she wasn't a fan of wasting things especially food.

"Thank you!!"she smiled

Thaddeus looked at her pale, tired and emotionless face that slowly gained some liveliness as she smiled,he hissed "what am I to you a stranger?" He scoffed and walked away

Lucy laughed watching him behave childishly "of course not" she chuckled and chased behind him. Catching she punched him playfully on his back for making her run causing a light laugh to escape from his lips, the two walked home in laughter and happiness abandoning any negative emotion she felt earlier.

Finally, they got to her house. Lucy was just about to bid him goodbye but Thaddeus beat her at it

"What's so interesting sitting in the house all day?" He complained

"I could sleep whenever I want!"

"How boring, after the exams I'll bring you out to go play"

"Thank you Mr rich kid I'll be looking forward to it!" Lucy chuckled

Thaddeus lip curved up into a smile, at least she did not reject it this time but his smile soon died down as he followed Lucy's line of sight, she was looking at the house normally her grandmother would be out there waiting for her to return but now it was all empty

Lucy, I really want to make that smile on your lips last forever! Thaddeus thought

"Alright then that's a promise" he pat her on her head and left

Watching his figure slowly disappear from her sight Lucy smiled even brighter, maybe God would be more merciful to her, he won't let this bright light go out, the only source of her happiness probably the last one.

Lucy walked into the house, dropped her bag on the chair she then walked towards her grandmother room that was now sealed with no way in tears soon begin to find it way in her eyes, slowly she began to breathe heavily with every intake causing pain in her chest, her head filled with voices of her classmate, each sentence hurting her

No…..im not the one!! She cried closing her ear

"She's cruel"

"How could she kill her own grandmother"

"Is she even human?"

"She should have just died"

Those were the last words she heard when her world went blank.
