Silas glanced upward, and his brow furrowed, not seeing anything. But the sounds get louder and louder. It sounded like a struggle.
A bad one.
He walked further down the alley, although his steps became slower. He started to realize what a fool he was for coming down here.
What if he meets a man far bigger than him or carries a weapon on himself, and that's one of the worst ways to die? He definitely doesn't want to get shot in the head.
He almost shivered at the thought, and before he could turn around, he saw a red shadow from the corner of his eye.
He saw a red dress. A beautiful woman. And...
A dead body on the ground with blood pouring out of him. His neck area was surrounded with a dark pool of blood.
Silas felt his heart racing from fear, and he almost felt faint. His heart beats so fast that he couldn't breathe.
He tried to get air into his lungs, but it felt like his lungs were trapped. He was having a panic attack.
The woman... No... A monster was feeding on the dead man. But he wasn't dead yet. His body was twitching like he was trying to get away from her, and the guy's hands were shaky before they went limp.
Silas wanted to take a step back, but the gruesome sight before him had stolen his breath, his heart, and every movement of his.
He watched the beautiful monster all wrapped in a red dress. She lifted her head and stared at him with a smile, her eyes green like the color of leaves.
She tilted her head, and she said in a sweet voice, low and curious, "Hello. I wasn't expecting you."
Silas wanted to understand what the hell was happening. His mind was trapped in awe and fear. His entire body was frozen, and he stuttered, his words barely audible, "W-What the hell are you?"
She smiled, and she said, "That's not a nice thing to ask."
Her body oozed with raw beauty, and her skin was as white as snow, her lips as red as blood, and her hair as black as a raven. The red dress around her body fit her well, her curves were more apparent, and there was a tinge of blood on her lips.
She licked her lips, and her lips became clean and pure. "What are you doing here?"
Silas wanted to speak, but his mouth was frozen. The flashes of what happened before only made him want to keep quiet. He doesn't want to talk about his betrayal and his worst humiliation.
She smiled as if seeing something in him. "Were you betrayed? Your eyes hold a sadness I see many times in humans."
Silas swallowed and tried his very best to ignore the dead body. He needs to do whatever he can to get the hell out of here.
Silas tried to force a smile, but his lips could only twitch. "I--I was betrayed. I just found out my girlfriend cheated on me."
Her eyes held a curious flicker, and she said with a sad smile, but she wasn't sad. He could tell she was humored by his words.
He felt a flush of embarrassment, but whatever, "Yea. And you know the story, and I'm about to be eaten by a vampire or whatever you are."
She blinked her eyes like she hadn't expected her response, and she said in a low voice, "Well, I wasn't expecting that."
She walked over the dead body, like it was nothing more than a dirty dog. She walked closer to him with confidence oozing from her, but there was a strange aura around her.
She stopped a few inches away from him, and he couldn't ignore the blood on her lips. It was more smeared, and she smiled, a hint of canine fangs, "I'll give you two choices. You can decide what you want to pick."
Silas furrowed his brow, and he asked, "W-What choices?"
She smirked with an arrogance surrounding her, and she said, "I can erase people's memories, and you will never remember this, or I can kill you and put you out of your misery. What would you like?"
Silas felt his heart racing even faster, and his lungs burned harder, and he almost felt even fainter. Without realizing, he fell to the wall behind him, and it took almost everything to stand on his legs.
He asked in a low voice, "A-Are you serious?"
She smirked arrogantly, and his words only brought a sneer to her lips: "Well, I can't exactly let you go with your memories intact."
Silas shakes his head and tries to calm his breathing down. He clenched his hands tightly, and he said, "N-No one would believe me. Everyone would think I lost my mind. There's no need to do this."
She smiled, but the flicker of annoyance flashed through his eyes. She said in a low voice, but her words remained hard and unflinching, "I don't care. I'm not going to let some loose variable run around knowing my secret. If you keep running your mouth, I might kill you."
Silas knew he had no choice, and he said in a reluctant tone, "A-Alright. You can erase my memories."
She smiled sweetly, "Good choice. Don't worry, it won't hurt."
She stared into his eyes, and she said, "You won't remember this. You only saved me from a man who tried to assault me, and you went on through the day."
Her eyes flashed a dark red like wine before they turned back to green.
Silas was confused; wasn't she supposed to erase his memory? Is she playing a trick on him?
He still remembers everything. He watches her smile, and she asks, "What happened?"
He wasn't sure what to say but responded, it felt like his mouth had started to speak on its own, "You were attacked, and I saved you."
She nodded, and she turned around, her words lingering behind, "Wait for me; there's something else I need to do with the body."
Her words were casual, like she hadn't killed anyone, and she pulled the dead body with such ease, dragging it all the way to the end of the alley.
Silas noticed she was gone and not paying attention to him, seeming to think whatever she did worked on him. His heart raced like he was about to have a heart attack, and he glanced in the other direction—the street with a whole bunch of other people.
He ran madly for his life.
