Chapter 2 - Chapter 1 : So reincarnation is a thing?

The light shine through his eye, he is back again isn't he? Into that damn room.

Trying to reach to his phone which is not really that far away from his bed. He installed a timeline reader on it before since, duh, how can someone like him remember resets? He can at least remember it in...dejavu.

But...seem like he can't reach the...phone? Wait what? Last time he checked, his arms is pretty long.

' Dammit...not a good morning...i hope last run was a pacifist one...' Welp, blindly trying to reach for something is just stupid.

But when he open his eyes...uhhhh...who are they?

They aren't speaking english, and since when does human appear in his room?

He tried to reach out, but...the bony hands is no more....it's flesh, human flesh.

Tried to understand what is happening, he look around, and see another boy, baby boy, around his...current size.

' ...in the name of Asgore.....what the fuck did you do this time kid....'

...

So, after months in this world, he learnt quite a lot. Maybe something happened to the reset button and it send him to here but he doesn't really care about that anymore.

For him, his past life is over, he died and moved on, just with the memories as a bonus. He won't try to go back and he will accept his new life here, that's how things supposed to be, not resetting and loading.

So, he got a new bro, the guy is kinda....pervy but at least he is not that bad, right? He will be there to turn him around so it's good. The name is Rudeus, Rudy for short, there is something weird with his soul but...eh, he's a bit lazy for that.

He also forced his parent to change his name back to Sans, although he decided to move on from the past life, hey, using a font as a name is just too cool, like paps.

The next thing is, seem like he can turn into a skeleton, that's really surprising isn't it? He can even use the magic he used to have like bones, blasters, you name it. And also, if he is interested, he might recreate some magic type of his old race.

The timeline reader helped a lot with the information and he memorized it before so he got a lot of theory stored up in his head. Asriel's magic really is something and sound fun to use.

This world got magic too so that's a good point. But...for some reason, it interact with his skeleton form in a weird way, maybe it's because it made mostly out of magic.

The current era is similar to the human's race when they declare a war on monsterkind, swords and magics with a little bit of extra stuff. Not that great since he absolutely love those high tech devices in Alph's lab but sure.

And his new parents is Paul and Zenith, from the Greyrat family. And there is one thing he gotta say about them. They are absolutely freaky, just like his lil bro.

Holy god, every damn night, he keep on hearing "WHO GOT THAT COOKIE!? I GOT THAT COOKIE!!" from their rooms.

Like, you got 2 kids in the next room, do you need to be that loud?

While he doesn't really care about it since he's just to lazy for that, Rudy seem to get a little bit aroused by it. Can't blame the kid right? He is pretty old by now, around 5 actually.

Wait, do 5 year old human act like that?

Anyway, luckily, Rudy is a very fast learner, he specifically interested in magic. Sans can't be a bad bro now can he? He should help em out a bit.

...

" Ya should focus more on speed and size, it would increase the damage output and harder to track for the opponent" The two are currently in the attic, Sans's chilling around, teaching his lil bro a bit, well, he mostly lacking around or throwing puns actually.

" Really? You sure about that?"

" Trust your buddy a bit yeah? I got experience~" He grinned

" Yeah, sure, we're basically the same age, you just out a bit sooner than me"

" Hey, a second still count bro"

" So what spell do you like the most?"

"my favorite spell? [disap-peel]!" he says while slipping on a banana peel he conjured from nowhere.

" ...really now?..."

" Yeah~"

" ....Well then, i should have enough magic capacity by now, bigger spell seem fun"

" Don't hole the house alright? I've seen someone blow up a factory just by watching people transforming"

" We're 5 Sans, the only place we've been is this house and the village"

" That's the neat part, that's impossible, but i think you can do it"

" You got a weird sense of humour"

" People say i'm special, guess i really am huh? Y'know" Sans muttered, one hand behind his head" if that thing blows up, I'm telling Mom it was your idea."

Rudeus didn't look up from the page "It's not going to blow up. It's just Water Ball. Basic stuff."

"Mhmm." Sans kicked one leg gently, swinging in the makeshift hammock. "Last time you said that, you turned the broom into spaghetti. Dad tried to eat it."

"That wasn't a spell" Rudeus said. "That was an accident"

"That's what they all say right before the fire brigade shows up."

Rudeus huffed. He tightened his grip on the book. His tiny fingers moved to trace the rune diagram etched on the page. "Alright. Just be quiet for a sec."

Sans mimed zipping his lips, tossing the invisible key over his shoulder. Then he folded his arms behind his head and closed his eyes.

Rudeus took a deep breath.

He'd read this page ten times already. Visualized the flow of mana, rehearsed the chant. It was supposed to be simple, the sort of thing a village apprentice could pull off after a few weeks of lessons.

But no one had taught him.

No. He'd figured it out by himself.

He closed his eyes. The diagram burned in his mind. He felt something shift inside—something invisible, like a current of wind under his skin.

The words rose unbidden to his lips.

"Water Ball!"

It happened fast.

A sharp pulse snapped through the air, followed by a burst of pressure. Mana surged from his chest like it had been waiting all along. A sphere of glistening water exploded into existence in front of his hand, then, without warning, launched upward with a sharp crack.

BOOM.

A hole tore open in the attic ceiling. Splinters rained down like hail. Sunlight poured in through the fresh wound, and a startled bird flapped wildly as it flew off the roof in a panic.

Rudeus stared, eyes wide, mouth hanging open.

"...I did it..." he whispered.

Across the room, Sans opened one eye.

He glanced up at the gaping hole.

Then at Rudeus.

Then back to the hole.

"...well" he said, sitting up slowly. "that's one way to ventilate."

Rudeus turned to him, face still frozen in disbelief. "I-I actually did it! That was magic! Real magic! Did you see that!?"

Sans stood, brushing sawdust off his clothes. "oh, i saw it. the bird saw it. the neighbors probably saw it."

He tilted his head. "you sure you don't wanna try smaller spells first? like... conjuring a cup of water instead of launching it through the roof?"

Rudeus was already flipping to the next page of the book, eyes manic with excitement. "I didn't even use the whole chant! I just pictured it and bam, it happened!"

Sans raised an eyebrow. "chantless casting, huh?" He whistled low. "dang. you really are a prodigy."

"You think Dad'll be proud?" Rudeus asked, eyes shining.

Sans shrugged. "he might be, once he's done yelling about the repairs."

There was a pause.

"...You're not gonna tell him, are you?"

Sans paused, then walked over to his brother and put a hand on his shoulder, solemnly.

"you let me sleep through chores for a week" he said gravely "and this spellbook incident... never happened."

Rudeus blinked. "You're blackmailing me?"

"nah" Sans said with a lazy grin. "i'm brother-mailing you."

A laugh bubbled up from Rudeus' chest, light and full of awe. He looked up again at the hole, at the way the sunlight slanted in just right, as if the world itself had taken notice.

He'd done it. He'd used magic.

And not just that.

He'd felt it. The shape of the spell, the flow of mana, the rhythm of casting, it was like music in his veins. A rhythm he was born knowing.

"Hey, Sans" he said, quieter now. "You think... I could really become a powerful mage someday?"

Sans, still beside him, flopped casually onto the floor and stared up at the hole.

"sure" he said. "with enough practice, maybe you'll be strong enough to fix the roof."

Then he grinned.

"...or at least strong enough to dodge when mom finds out."

And would you look at that, she did find out. I mean...it's a giant hole on the roof, who's not gonna notice that gigantic thing?

But they reacted more positively than he thought, they didn't mind the hole at all. We're that rich?

Anyway, they eventually hired a teacher for Rudy, Sans's still being a lazy bro so he doesn't got much spot. Paul keep making him workout though.

"Those muscle gonna disappear when i turn into a skeleton pop"

" But it will comeback when you're a human right? Rudy already a mage, you should be a swordman! What do you think son?" He look at him with sparkle in his eyes, just like papyrus, Sans can't deny something like that now can he?.

" ...man, you're really pushy... alright then, but Rudy gotta join too, i ain't suffering alone"

" That's more like it!"

...

A few days later...

The Greyrat family garden had become a war zone.

Not of swords or steel, but of splashes and singed grass, of fireballs gone rogue and water spells that fizzled out into mist.

At the center stood Roxy Migurdia, arms crossed, brow furrowed as she watched her student with the sort of stern intensity that could crack stone. Rudeus stood opposite her, panting slightly, staff in hand, sweat running down his forehead.

From the shade of a tree, Sans Greyrat lay sprawled across a bench, one leg dangling, arms folded under his head.

He was supposed to be watching.

Technically.

"What did I say about stabilizing your core before launching the spell?" Roxy barked.

"Don't... overchannel the mana... or it destabilizes the cast" Rudeus muttered, catching his breath.

"Exactly. You're not launching a cannon—you're weaving a thread. Again!"

Rudeus groaned but nodded, taking position again.

From under the tree, Sans yawned.

"she's got a point" he called lazily. "you keep throwing your spells like you're hurlin' tomatoes at a bad bard."

Roxy glared. "If you're going to spectate, then teach, or at least stop being a distraction."

Sans slowly sat up, smirking. "nah, i'm the emotional support sibling. moral reinforcement."

beat

"...also comic relief."

Rudeus grinned despite himself.

He focused. Took a breath. Felt the mana stir.

This time, the spell came easier. A Water Ball hovered above his palm, steady, quiet, precise.

Roxy raised a brow. "Better. No-"

Suddenly, the Water Ball twitched... and burst, splashing her right in the face.

Rudeus froze. Roxy blinked, water dripping down her bangs.

Then turned slowly toward him.

"...Oops?" he offered weakly.

She sighed. "We're taking five."

As she stalked off to dry her robes, Sans casually conjured a small bone-shaped towel and tossed it toward her.

"solid hit, bro," he said to Rudeus. "she'll remember that one in your next nightmare."

Later that night...

The two brothers lay side by side on the roof, Sans having fixed the hole he definitely didn't make with some suspiciously lazy spellcraft. Stars blinked above like curious gods watching children play.

"You're really not gonna train?" Rudeus asked. "Even a little? You're good at it."

Sans rolled a twig between his teeth, gaze fixed skyward.

"been there, done that" he said. "trust me, it's not all it's cracked up to be."

"...Been where?"

Sans didn't answer.

After a moment, he added softly, "magic's cool, but so's knowin' when not to use it."

Rudeus turned to look at him.

"You always act like it's all a joke. But you're not stupid."

"nah" Sans said. "i just pick my battles. you? you're destined for fireworks. me?"

He turned to face his brother with a wink.

"i'm here to make sure you don't burn the house down."
