Walking through the corridors of a hotel, Louis Lockward seemed slightly impatient to reach his destination.
The destination was room 313, and the reason was that his girlfriend had told him she had a surprise for him the night before.
Yesterday was their 10th anniversary, and he had taken her to her favorite places, spending almost all the money he had saved after many months of hard work.
That same night, after they said goodbye, she told him she also had a surprise for him.
'She knows this is my favorite hotel, and room 313 holds many memories for us, as it was where we had our first time. I wonder what kind of surprise she has for me.' Louis looked slightly impatient to arrive, but he wasn't nervous.
Instead, he was eager to find out what the surprise was. That's why his steps were quick and concise as he walked through a hotel with long corridors, decorated with occasional reflections of his figure.
Some curious paintings seemed to watch him pass by as he walked.
Until he stopped.
"Room 313..." He smiled when he saw the sign on the door and, without thinking, knocked several times.
But then the door opened. 'Was it open? Hehe, you know me well, Rebecca.' Since she had guessed what time he was coming, he didn't hesitate to enter the room and quickly walked down the hallway, eager to see the surprise she had prepared for him.
What greeted him made him drop the few things he was carrying in his hand onto the floor, including some wine glasses he had bought downstairs to avoid being bothered with orders.
His body tensed.
In front of him stood his girlfriend, Rebecca, in the arms of another man—one he remembered very well from his college days, as he was a famous, rich bully rumored to be a mobster's son.
Both were wearing white bathrobes and had little clothing underneath, with Rebecca wearing only her underwear and her breasts, slightly visible, pressed against the other man's bare chest.
The sound of wine glasses breaking caught the attention of both.
Rebecca was shocked to see him and tried to move away, but the man embraced her with a curious smile.
"Welcome, Louis. It's been a year since we last saw each other," he greeted him.
But Louis was too stunned to hear his words.
"Rebecca... You..."
Suddenly, ten years of their relationship flashed before his eyes. They started dating when they were 15, and everything has been wonderful until now. Now 25, they both dreamed of finally moving in together in two years.
He still remembered the promise she had made him a few hours ago, that those ten years would turn into twenty!
Shit, yes, they would turn into 20 years. But 20 years of being a cuckold!
His heart suddenly felt like it was breaking, and he even took a few steps back in shock.
Rebecca looked at him like that and sighed. She seemed slightly angry at the man hugging her, knowing that he had called him here, but she didn't care.
"If you finally know, I don't think there's anything to hide from you, Louis." She seemed to smile a little when she said the following words: 'I've been living with Jack for five years, I didn't know how to tell you. So I apologize that you had to find out this way." She declared with a fierceness that was deadly to Louis.
He couldn't help but feel his little heart was shattered entirely when that truth reached his ears. Moreover, he couldn't refute it because it came from Rebecca's mouth.
"You... have you been cheating on me for the last five years?" he muttered, incredulous, to which she shrugged.
"Heh, whatever you want to take it as."
"..."
For the past 10 years, he has held her in the highest place in his heart. Since he lost his parents in an accident, he has only had her to rely on and has treated her as best he could. He gave her everything she wanted and was there for her during all her tantrums.
For him, she wasn't just the love of his life and his only family; she was also the person he adored most, because he believed she had shown him that she was worth it.
But today... Everything was destroyed in an instant.
The words of the woman he had adored for 10 years destroyed everything.
He suddenly made a disappointed gesture with his mouth and shook his head, lowering his gaze.
"Good life, Rebecca." He smiled sarcastically, feeling his world crumble with her words.
Then he looked at Jack.
"So, they cheated me with the dumbest guy in college." He sneered, but he wasn't really sneering at Jack; he was sneering at himself.
Jack frowned slightly but stood up. "Old buddy, why don't we make peace? Rebecca has been good to you over the years, so I can take you on like a little brother. All you have to do is work for me. I've been shorthanded lately."
He approached Louis, acting pompous and friendly. He was slightly taller than Louis, but skinny with a bit of a belly, which showed that he didn't exercise and drank alcohol. It was a contrast to Louis' athletic body.
Louis smiled at him. "Work for you? Ha." He hadn't finished his words when his fist was already on Jack's face, and Jack felt his nose bend backward from the impact.
He immediately fell backward to the floor, dizzy.
Then Louis sneered. "Take that as my answer." Then he looked at Rebecca, who was yelling and scolding him.
"As for you..." He shook his head in disappointment and said nothing to her. Although he wanted to say many things, he knew how to control himself. Then he turned to leave.
Jack quickly regained his composure and grabbed the floor. 'That damn bastard... He hit me?!' His mind suddenly buzzed angrily, and he quickly raised his hand toward a wooden drawer beside the bed.
There lay his weapon, a Desert Eagle. As the son of mobsters, how could he not have one?
He stood up immediately and aimed straight for the head of the man leaving the room. "Damn you, bastard, repent in hell!" he growled and pulled the trigger...
"NO!" Rebecca, standing next to him, tried to stop him, but all she could do was watch as the bullet hit Louis squarely in the back of the head.
His body went limp immediately, and he fell forward, unable to move.
Louis couldn't understand what was happening until the very end.
"Damn you... coward."
His mind immediately succumbed to darkness.
