Chapter 3 - A failed friendship

'Next time, try to make friends more carefully. Of course, if there is such an opportunity.'

The schoolboy rescuer, one of the few nicknames that stuck to him like a stigma after the Bakugou incident. In fact, nothing else has changed.

Really, that's all.

Honestly.

If you think about the little things, then the inscriptions on the desk are new. Someone definitely wrote with taste. Especially the handwriting, it is immediately obvious — persistent. This only made Izuku cry more.

After class, that's what he did, how he polished his workplace, shedding tears inside his head. And remembering that tomorrow he would probably have to stay for after-class classes again, the worn fabric in his hands only tightened.

"God... just for a day." Izuku complained, and the soap he bought with his pocket money slid smoothly into the rhythm.

In fact, these sounds have already taken root, as if it had always been like this. It just seemed at some point that they became clearer. He could hum a tune, that's how good it looked.

Deku cleaned his desk as best he could, wrung out a dirty rag, put on his school jacket, which didn't look like much anyway, and headed out of the school. Humming a melody of different sounds to somehow pass the lost time on the way home.

Oh, the Almighty… It was so sad about him. It was completely unexpected. Midoriya thought as he walked through the memorable tunnel again, "It's light here this time, it's been fixed, apparently. Heh…

He kicked a passing pebble into the air and quickened his pace.

Looking back, it's not hard to see. The blood that used to be on the asphalt has disappeared, and the thick mucus has disappeared. Nevertheless, they all work efficiently when it is really necessary. The white—haired girl spoke as she skipped next to Izuku.

— There is such a thing.

"Hey! Why are you so sour again? Cheer up! She grabbed his arm and pulled him forward. "Come on!" Tomorrow will definitely be better!

Yeah... that's for sure.

Sometimes it's good to have friends, even after school, but you can spend warm days without thinking about all sorts of nasty things again. These beatings are very disturbing to him, even to think like that, he saved Kacchan, and he didn't even spit out words of gratitude.

Izuku knew, but still, in his heart he was very upset about it.

Basically, it concerned everything. He was upset by everything that happened in his rather short life at the moment. It's already the end of high school, and he's still at the bottom. No academic success, no sociality success.

He was especially disgusted by the teachers, whom he smiled at every morning. Deku saw what they were doing, and it was a blow straight to the heart. He saw Bakugou's answers, others' answers, his own answers. But why? Izuku asked himself as he sobbed. — Why is my score so bad? Why did Kacchan have the same answers, but the score is different? Why?

This situation always worried him more than others. More than the scars left by the explosions and other beatings mixed with verbal insults. After all, this was his future. And when even the Almighty confirmed his inferiority, what then, what's on that roof… He really had no choice.

Deku was looking at the last rays of the sun that were making their way through his window, and a decrepit table was waiting nearby. And on the table, a sheet that looked like an official document, with all the seals and signatures, was slowly drying up. Deku went to bed, he was tired.

***

She suggested me to take a walk, it's so weird! Izuku was staring at his phone, he could afford to take a minute break. It's a change, isn't it…

Of course I'll go.

Kacchan didn't even hit him once today, it seems like something important is going on. He looked at his scars on his arms and giggled, remembering the message on his phone. He has such a good friend!

"Shut up, Deku! Otherwise. He grabbed his phone and smiled fangily.

Midoriya immediately broke out in a cold sweat, fully realizing what he had done. This has happened before, and it usually doesn't end well. All possible scars throbbed, especially the one on his shoulder, in the shape of a star. Take a deep breath and the trembling goes away…

Shortness of breath, irregular breathing. Creaking floors and footsteps. He hears everything, literally. His classmates are wearing slippers, and it sounds like someone is blowing up balloons. It's very funny, and it makes him shake even more.

— Midoriya, please read page forty-eight.

Eh?

Izuku stood up, his hands still twitching. He smiled slightly and began to read.

This is strange… This is not the first time this has happened. He definitely has blackouts, he doesn't remember at what point it started happening. I have a vague feeling that it started recently, just yesterday. But it's been going on for over a week now. "It just can't be. Izuku shook his head sharply to come to his senses.

Midoriya finished reading the passage. He sat down and stared at his desk. It's still shining, it's a miracle. Only the insults that were heavily carved on the desk remained.

Deku was smiling slightly, realizing that today was indeed a good day. So far, nothing serious had happened, and even the teachers hadn't paid much attention to him! And gradually the lessons were ending, which Izuku seemed to know, but as if he was unfamiliar with them.

The bell rang.

This time, he was also left alone. The one who was supposed to be on duty with him left again with the others almost immediately after the end of lessons. Midoriya was not a bit embarrassed by this, especially since he was already used to this attitude. That and cleaning up this time, it's just mopping the floor and wiping the board. It's great that he didn't even get hurt today.

— I'll help you! Together we will finish faster!

Izuku was really happy about this, they would just have time to go to that cafe nearby. Where you can hear the dripping rain and pleasant music playing. Sometimes it's even hard to tell if it's really raining or not.

It's a pity I couldn't go earlier, it's just that after class the lessons were really painful. Those bruises still hurt, huh.

They put down the mops at the same time, Izuku grabbed his things and the keys to the classroom and left. He hung them on a hook and waved to his friend standing in front. "Come on!"

It's so cool to get out of school, look at the sky and still see the sun. It's so high and it seems like there's plenty of time! On the way, Deku made small talk, he talked about many things and was interested. Sometimes I asked and got answers. Overall it was really fun.

"Hey, is everything okay?" Izuku stopped when he was gently grabbed by the shoulder, he twitched slightly, but the boy did not pay attention to it. What can not be said about the homeless man standing next to the boy.

"Oh... yeah?" Yes, but what's wrong with that...? Oh my God! It's even the eraser itself! His eyes were sparkling and he almost instantly forgot about the purple—haired boy standing next to him. No different from Izuku, looking just as devastated. But it looks neat. — Look, it's real!

- The boy chuckled slightly, — Yes, yes, baby, just be quiet. Aizawa didn't understand how he was recognized, and to be honest, he didn't want to know. It was all pretty suspicious.… He cleared his throat. — Anyway, I'm sorry for disturbing you, you can go.

And the autograph?

Damn...— Aizawa muttered under his breath while the one standing next to him could barely contain his laughter. — Oh, paper and pen already?! …Here you go. He quickly handed Izuku an autograph and with the words "goodbye" quickly left. —Oh, ha ha ha! God forgive him, he's really not a public figure," the boy said, gradually moving away in order to catch up with Aizawa.

Midoriya bowed and began waving the leaf as if showing it to someone. —You see! What a coincidence! What did you tell me? He jokingly began to copy her voice. — Never meet your heroes, blah blah blah! Ha ha ha!

The girl was embarrassed and quickly opened the door and disappeared inside. — Oh, wait for me!

His hands were shaking, but he also grabbed the door and disappeared somewhere inside.

"That boy. — Strange thoughts wouldn't let go of him, — Hey, Shinso, didn't he seem strange to you too? Shota was walking fast, which made it feel like he was running.

Oh, hold your horses, God, what?

— The way he spoke and where he looked. You're the one who stopped him. Shota looked at him with a sinister look.

—Oh, phew. Thank you..! Well, yes, I felt uneasy somehow, so I stopped him without a second thought, but everything seems to be fine, isn't it? — Shinso was still breathing heavily, God, where is he in such a hurry?!

— Yes, but still…

I'll have a coffee, black, please. Plain. And she..." Izuku fell into a stupor, and she... "Hey, what are you going to do?"

— And she has green tea! Yes, yes. Green!

The waiter, with a little sweat on his forehead, wrote down the temper and quickly left. Five minutes later, two cups of hot tea were on the Deck table. And in general, there was nothing serious. Deku just continued his story, which he had started earlier. The atmosphere was good, especially with the dripping rain hitting the asphalt hard. The windows were wet and you could paint on them, it was funny.

There weren't as many clients as Izuku had imagined. It was a pretty quiet place, it seemed like they were alone. He could hear the sound of a clock beating in rhythm with the rain and a pleasant smell making its way into his nose.

"Don't you think it's time to stop?"

Izuku took a sip and finally drained the cup of hot coffee. Because of the scars, his body still twitches from time to time. It's really annoying.

Deku doesn't understand what she's talking about, he asked her.

"Isn't that what you wanted?" What are you doing now? Is that enough already, Izuku? It's getting boring, Izuku.

Izuku, Izuku, Izuku, Izuku, Izuku, Izuku!

Ah. That's right. Sorry, I really forgot.

It was just like that. joyfully.

It was fun and not boring, those were different days, not the same ones.

Not the ones where Izuku can just stare at the wall and giggle, and find it very exciting entertainment. When he got so tired of everything that staring at the wall became the activity that brought him the most happiness. Sometimes he got lost in it all, but mostly everything remained as before.

Boring and tedious.

And then he met the Almighty and everything went downhill. When he heard those words, Deku understood the meaning of the quote don't meet your heroes. And this was only confirmed when he was scolded for saving Kacchan, even though he was right, not them. And he just walked away, he ignored them despite those screams that just got quieter and quieter. That incident completely finished him off and he finally shut himself in.

All the days that went by, wasn't it just a dream? He's not sure, but he just walked out of the cafe and went straight ahead. Despite the rain, which was slowly turning into a downpour. The streets were empty, and only a couple of cars were passing by. Izuku shuffled up the stairs, leaving dirty spots. Deku went into that very building. Nearby, soot could still be seen, which had not been cleaned. —Hurry up, Izuku!

Here we are again, it brings back memories. Although it's only been a week, maybe two... I don't know. — Do you remember, you promised?

Yeah.. Izuku was already tired after saying just that word. Especially remembering what happened here before that day. His fingers were twitching, making his whole body even more nervous.

Didn't you want to jump off? That's what you wanted, isn't it?… I'm tired of waiting.

And the promise, do you... do you remember it? — The rain was getting heavier, it was as if a flood was starting on the roof, there was simply no place for the water to go. Deku's tears were mixed up.

— And the application, the w-application? I haven't even tried yet! He coughed, showing her all his emotions. — Please, more German…

- no. You already know how this is going to end. There's no point in delaying. — Her hair was fluttering and there was no hint of moisture. "Do you remember?" He told me that himself.

But!

— no! She grabbed his arm, "That won't do, it's too late." — They were spinning like a bundle, standing on the edge of a cliff. Oh, as always, beautiful.

But Deku wasn't too worried, he understood everything perfectly. And even when he tried to grab her hand. And even when his hand went through. And even as he slowly flew down, a slight smile continued to play on his tired, tear-soaked face.

And looking back, you could see that everything was becoming as clear as the blue sky. Even when a cold stream of air hit him in the back, and more drops hit his face.

Deku just smiled wider and said:

—Damn it... ha ha ha! Thank you, death!

***

There's just a smile, black eyes, an autograph, and a barely working cell phone.

His mobile was empty, just one chat with saved messages, it seemed like he was having a conversation with someone, maybe practicing?

And those two cups? The green tea is still warm... — And listen, isn't this the guy who spent a week on…

—And hey, Izu, uh. Well. Thank you very much, it was really fun.

Honestly.
