Chapter 7: The Trials Begin
"I bet we'll find cool dungeons and fight magic beasts!" Finley exclaimed excitedly, practically bouncing with energy.
Aaron laughed. "You always want a fight."
Right after he said that, the battleship began to descend. "We're here," said the pilot.
Without hesitation, Aaron and Finley leapt off the ship and landed on the misty island. They started walking through the trees—until the ground suddenly gave way beneath them.
THUD!
"Ugh, my head…" groaned Aaron.
"Oh no!" Finley said, brushing dirt off his shoulders. They looked around. They were in a deep, dark underground dungeon carved from stone and glowing moss.
Then they noticed it—ancient Amphibian writing etched into the wall.
"Conquer the Trials."
"Huh… what's that mean?" Finley asked, tilting his head.
Aaron pulled out his new journal. "It means we're meant to conquer the trials," he said, reading the translation.
"That's… weird," Finley muttered, stepping forward.
Neither of them noticed their eyes beginning to glow—Aaron's glowing black, Finley's glowing red.
Drawn by something deep inside the dungeon, they walked forward together.
