Chapter 12 - Chapter 11: The Secret Between Us

The sun had just begun to dip below the horizon, casting a warm, amber hue over the calm waters of the resort's private beach. The salty breeze was gentle, and the rhythmic sound of waves brushing against the shore filled the silence between Riku and Kira as they sat side-by-side on a secluded wooden pier.

Kira's legs dangled over the edge, her toes occasionally splashing the water. Riku leaned back on his arms, shirt unbuttoned, breathing in the moment. For a while, they said nothing. It was the kind of silence that carried weight, not discomfort. Peaceful, but loaded.

"You know, Riku," Kira began softly, breaking the spell, "I've known for a while now."

Riku turned to her slowly, eyebrows slightly raised. "Known what?"

She smiled faintly, not looking at him. "That you're not normal. That you've been... different since that day in the alley. Since before then, even. You move too fast, learn too quickly, solve things people spend years figuring out in seconds. You don't get surprised. You always have the answer. And the money... the way it just shows up."

He remained silent, watching the golden light dance across her eyes. She looked serious. Not accusing. Not afraid. Just honest.

"I didn't want to believe it at first. I thought maybe you were just special—like genius level. But I've seen geniuses. They struggle. They burn out. You don't. You just... adapt. Instantly. And no one's that lucky."

Riku sighed, his chest rising and falling slowly. "And what if I told you you were right?"

Kira looked at him, finally. "Then I'd ask if you trust me enough to let me keep the secret."

He met her gaze for a long moment. The wind tugged at her hair, and his heart thudded in his chest—not from fear, but the weight of choice. He'd kept this hidden from the world. Even Arman only suspected. But this was Kira.

"I do trust you," he said at last. "I trust you more than anyone."

She leaned in slightly, her voice steady. "So... is it a system? Some kind of... cheat interface?"

Riku exhaled. "Yeah. Something like that. It lets me buy things—skills, knowledge, objects... even influence. With points I earn."

Kira's lips parted, not in shock, but acceptance. "I knew it. I didn't know how, but... it always felt like you had access to something unreal."

"And you never told anyone?"

"Of course not," she replied, smiling now. "You think I'd sell you out? Besides... I figured you'd tell me when you were ready."

Riku blinked slowly. His hand found hers on the pier. Their fingers laced. "Why'd you stay quiet? Why not demand answers?"

Kira turned toward him fully, her voice growing huskier. "Because I fell for you, Riku. Not the system. You could've told me you were cursed or a vampire, and I'd still be here. But... I knew you'd only tell me when it mattered."

Riku's heart swelled. The vulnerability, the trust—it ignited something deeper than any reward the system could offer. And as they leaned closer, he saw in her eyes that familiar spark, one that had flickered since the first time they met. He moved in without hesitation.

Their lips met—soft at first, testing, tender. Then hungrier. Kira's hands reached into his hair, tugging gently as she climbed into his lap, straddling him right there on the edge of the pier.

The tension, the unsaid emotions between them, all unraveled in that kiss.

Clothes became loose, then forgotten. The wind teased across bare skin as they surrendered to the heat of the moment. Riku pulled her closer, feeling every inch of her against him. Her skin was warm, smooth, her breath hot against his neck as her hips moved with instinctive rhythm.

She whispered his name, and he whispered hers.

The pier creaked under them, but they didn't care. The world narrowed to touch and heat, to lips and hands, to moans and gasps. It was wild, yes, but also filled with raw emotion—the kind that came only from trust built over time.

Kira clung to him, her back arching as she let herself go entirely in his arms. Riku held her like she was the only thing tethering him to the world. And maybe she was.

Afterward, they lay there, tangled in each other, the stars peeking out above them.

Riku pressed a kiss to her forehead. "Thank you... for trusting me."

Kira smiled, resting her head on his chest. "Just don't make me regret it, okay?"

"Never."

And as they drifted off under the moonlight, the system chimed quietly in his mind.

He smiled. For once, it wasn't just about the system. It was about the girl who chose him despite it.

And he wouldn't forget that.
