Chapter 44 - Revealed to the World

After remembering what she did to this man before her, Hildr wanted to curse out loud. She had humiliated this man and probably even cost him everything.

She could easily imagine what he had been facing till now.

Being the one who had killed his men, Hildr was sure that the man would have no peace.

He could not even properly ask for forgiveness since he did everything while under the influence of the Beguilement Eye.

'There can be no negotiations,' she thought as she looked at the man who was seated with his sword before him.

Hildr understood that the man was not doing this for money or anything superficial. He was doing this out of pain and hatred. When these emotions were as pure as this man's, there was no room left for logic.

"What do you want?" she asked him.

Stevens looked at her, and this was when Hildr noticed that the man's eyes were blood red. They had not been like this just a few hours ago.

Stevens did not answer.

The hatred in his eyes was answer enough, but Hildr wanted something else from him. This was her only chance at escaping from this place.

"Just name your price, and whatever it is will be yours," said Hildr.

At this, Stevens snarled like a wild beast.

His hand was trembling, making his sword blur.

"I remember who you are," this time, Hildr got Stevens' full attention.

He looked into her eyes, and she looked back.

"I made you kill your men, but you must not forget that it was all your fault. The moment I entered the city, I should have been stopped by the guards posted at the Dragoon Gate, but those powerful soldiers let me pass without any issues.

Did you think they were fools? The Dragon City is filled with soldiers and forces from countless forces, all sworn to protect the Sol King and the Dragon Capital. Did you actually fool yourself into thinking that you were more knowledgeable, more determined, and more loyal than all of them?" Stevens trembled with each word. Hildr saw all this, but she did not care. She simply continued as though she did not see the man breaking down.

"When I entered the city with my pegasus and followers, I did not commit any crime. I followed the laws and etiquette afforded to me as the Crown Princess of the Draugr and heir to the Night King. You stopped my carriage and even moved to attack without fully grasping the situation."

Hildr paused and looked directly into the man's eyes. They were still blood red, but this time, he was crying. He was crying blood.

'Why is he being so dramatic?' thought Hildr.

"Your ignorance and desire for glory pushed you to lead your men to their deaths.

To make matters worse, I barely used my power to control your mind. I just had to push a little, and you gave into your desire to slaughter. In short, this was all your fault, and you have no one else to blame but yourself." The moment Hildr threw out the last word, Stevens growled like a starved beast and attacked with everything he had. He no longer cared about torturing his enemy. He simply wanted to kill her and be done with it. He did not even remember that he had yet to get a means of killing her.

He just wanted to rip her apart.

As he moved, he knocked over the magic device that he had used to broadcast the previous time. He did not even notice that the device was turned on at this point. All over Lemuria, images of what was happening in this dark room filled the screens.

Stevens swung his sword with everything he had. Hildr had already prepared for this. She yanked on the chain and pulled herself upwards with all her power. Even though the chains stopped her from using her power, she was now using her physical strength, and even though it had also been limited by the chain, she was still as strong as a horse at the very least. While in the air, she moved her body and grabbed two parts of the chain, which she placed before the oncoming sword.

Clank, the sword clashed with the chain at a very specific point that Hildr had chosen after examining all the links. The sword was backed by great strength, but it was still not enough to shatter the link.

Hildr had expected something like this, and that is why she pushed herself from the ceiling using her legs and used this force to complete the breakage.

With the chain shattered, Hildr regained her power immediately, and this allowed her to control her gravity and stop herself from bashing her head into the floor.

Stevens regained some of his sanity at this moment, but it was too late as Hildr was already free.

Still, he was not willing to accept his fate.

He noticed that the magic device was on, and with that, he understood that he had no future. His face was now known to the world, and the Draugr would never let him off.

He decided that he at least had to kill Hildr by any means necessary. He attacked with his sword, using a very intricate move that showed his great understanding of the sword, but Hildr moved even faster than the sword. She dodged its edge by a few inches and touched the man in the stomach with all her strength. If he were human, this much force would have ripped a hole through his stomach.

Still, he felt great pain as he was sent flying like a sandbag.

Hildr followed him, and before Stevens collided with the wall, she landed five more punches on his chest. Each punch was accompanied by a powerful gale due to the immense force.

Bang, Stevens collided with the wall, making the entire room shake greatly.

He coughed out a mouthful of blood before he fell to the floor. He left a human-shaped indent in the wall. His sword fell to the side, and he seemed to be on the verge of total collapse, but Hildr did not think that this was enough to put down this man whose hatred had already consumed his heart.
