Cherreads

Chapter 6 - discovering its origins

At dawn, Liz prepared a breakfast full of treats to cure the boys' hangover. Keny, upon smelling the food, was the first to wake up.

- I smell food. He quickly got up and joined the table.

- Good morning, Mrs. Liz.

- Good morning! Come on, boys, get up, we have a long journey ahead of us. She called the others, who got up sleepily. Drumon put his hand on his head.

- Wow, what a hangover!

- The light makes my eyes hurt! Lei complained slyly.

- Is it day yet?

Mike asked, rubbing his yes closed with his fingers.

- Come on, sit down, we have something to discuss, I'll be quick. She took a map and handed it to Drumon.

- This is the map we brought with us when we came here.

- I've seen this map before, but I remember very little.

Confused, Mike asks - Wait, aren't we natives from here?

- No, remember the story I told you over and over again? It's the story of our kingdom. Liz took a sip of fruit juice and continued.

- A long time ago, the kingdom of the elves, Lórinand, attacked the kingdom of the fairies. My father Theophilu died having his wings torn off by Hyker, the king of Lórinand. He took control of our kingdom and decreed that all surviving fairies should have their wings torn off. Before that happened, my father sent me to Seracy to ask for reinforcements, but when we arrived, it was too late. We rescued few survivors.

The boys were surprised, except Drumon, who already knew.

- Okay, let's move on with the mission. Drumon said.

- Did you already know that? Mike asked.

- I always knew, Lord Hauk told me. He explained naturally.

- Is that why I don't have parents? Lei asked, a little sad about the whole story. Drumon stood up and touched Lei's right shoulder, and Liz confirmed with a heavy heart.

- You do have a father! A booming voice echoed through the kitchen, making everyone alert. Then he entered the kitchen, accompanied by a gust of wind. Lord Hauk was scary when he got angry.

- Never do something like that again, you were raised and trained by me, so you are my son, just like Drumon! He removed his hood, revealing his face, his eyebrows were arched, and his eyes were red.

- I'm sorry, master. Lei said, lowering his head. Hauk remained calm, and his eyes returned to their normal color.

- Wait, am I the only one who was born here? Keny asked.

- You were born on the way here, just like Mike. Hauk replied.

- I have doubts!- Drumon said, distressed.

- Why didn't I have my wings torn off?

- I don't know for sure, but I believe your mother hid you and Lei, so that they wouldn't be cut. Hauk said.

- We will do our best in this mission, for everyone! Drumon said with determination in his voice.

- That's it! Keny was excited, he certainly got all the humor from his father, one of the best warriors in the Kingdom.
