Chapter 17 - [17] Strength

Might Duy never imagined that Yuya could actually succeed. After all, throughout history, who knows how many people had trained in the Eight Gates and tried to modify it?

There must have been countless geniuses among them.

But not a single one succeeded.

Yet...Yuya actually did it!

That so-called "ninjutsu failure," in Might Duy's eyes, was now someone who couldn't even be described as a genius anymore—he was a complete monster!

This was creating a brand-new Forbidden Jutsu!

What kind of shock was that?

Seeing Might Duy's stunned expression that lasted for ages, Yuya instead felt a bit guilty and said, "I'm sorry... Although I succeeded in training it, I'm afraid I can't teach it to you."

This reverse Eight Gates technique could only be trained by those with the Shocking Release (震遁) Bloodline Limit.

Besides, Might Duy had already opened the first seven gates. If he opened the eighth, it would be a normal path straight to the Death Gate.

Yuya explained to Might Duy with a hint of apology.

After all, he had learned the Eight Gates from Might Duy but couldn't share his new development of the Eight Gates with him.

Gradually coming back from the shock, Might Duy surprisingly waved his hands cheerfully, laughing heartily, "It's fine, it's fine! Being able to see such an outstanding young man like you already makes me happy!"

"As I thought, youth continues to burn and is being passed on!"

Yuya: "..."

Although he was speechless, Yuya still secretly gave Might Duy a thumbs up in his heart for his honesty and straightforwardness. He even found Might Duy's goofy personality slightly more acceptable now.

Actually, it's kind of hilarious.

Back at home, Yuya began to rest.

The restriction on his heart had just been broken. Although it would gradually strengthen with each beat and blood flow, that process took some time.

About three days later, the process was complete.

At this point, the first gate of the True Eight Gates was fully perfected!

"True Eight Gates"—this was the new name Yuya gave to his reverse Eight Gates technique.

There were pros and cons to both versions of the Eight Gates.

The biggest advantage of Yuya's True Eight Gates was that it had no side effects!

It was a methodical, step-by-step kind of training—like unlocking meridians in martial arts—not an explosive break through limits that burns life force.

So, where there are pros, there are also cons.

Because it had no side effects, its power compared to the normal Eight Gates was considerably weaker.

Whether it was in strength or speed, it didn't reach the monstrous levels of the standard Eight Gates.

However, behind that drawback was another advantage: endurance.

The normal Eight Gates practically had no endurance; it was just a brief explosion, a flash of brilliance!

But Yuya's True Eight Gates was permanent!

The True Eight Gates would not close, would not weaken—it was a permanent, constant enhancement!

After opening the True Eight Gates, the power Yuya possessed would last forever, whether it was strength, speed, or even that chakra!

"A Genin-level amount of chakra, huh."

Clenching his fist, Yuya smiled. The chakra that was previously impossible to refine was now his thanks to the True Eight Gates.

Now that he had chakra, Yuya couldn't help but want to train in ninjutsu again.

Although his taijutsu combined with the Shocking Release Bloodline Limit was already strong enough to handle most situations, ninjutsu still sparked his curiosity.

"Clone Jutsu!"

"Substitution Jutsu!"

"Transformation Jutsu!"

With the chakra amount of a Genin, and it being constantly stored in the first gate of his heart, Yuya found training the Three Basic Techniques incredibly easy.

As it turned out, Yuya didn't have bad talent in ninjutsu. The real problem was his lack of chakra. Now that his chakra was normal, his talent in ninjutsu was actually exceptional. He learned the Three Basic Techniques almost instantly.

"But...it's still pretty hard to refine chakra, which means that if I want to increase my chakra reserves, the only way is to keep opening more of the True Eight Gates."

After attempting to refine chakra again and finding it still difficult, Yuya came to this realization.

The True Eight Gates was his core!

With each gate he opened, his power would layer up—chakra, body strength, and even his shockwave force!

At this moment, with just the first gate opened, Yuya's shockwave force was already strong enough to easily shatter C-Rank ninjutsu.

Its range was no longer just one meter; it had expanded two or three times, reaching nearly three meters.

He was still a bit away from resisting B-Rank ninjutsu, but not too far.

Yuya's strength was now standing at the pinnacle of Genin, even rivaling a Chunin.

At this rate, forget three months...

Maybe just one month, and he—a guy who hadn't even graduated from the Ninja Academy—could reach Chunin-level strength!

In this world, sometimes rank and strength don't always match.

Take Might Duy for example—he was just a Genin, but if he unleashed the Seventh Gate, he could blow away even Elite Jonin!

But such cases were rare.

Most of the time, rank and strength were equivalent.

Genin, Chunin, Elite Chunin, Special Jonin, Jonin, Elite Jonin, Kage!

That was the standard ranking system in the world of Naruto.

And in Yuya's view, power could also be divided this way without any issues. Although between Elite Jonin and Kage, there could be a sub-rank: Quasi-Kage.

Some Elite Jonin were strong enough, possessing forbidden techniques or secret arts that could even threaten Kage-level opponents. Such people could be considered Quasi-Kage.

As for Kage-level...strictly speaking, "Kage" wasn't really a defined power level in the world of Naruto.

The highest positions were the Five Kage of the five great nations—Wind, Lightning, Water, Fire, and Earth.

But their actual power levels varied greatly.

Above Kage-level, there were Super Kage, and even Six Paths level beings—but those were too far away from Yuya for him to bother classifying them now.

Putting those thoughts aside, Yuya prepared to continue his training.

Now, Yuya had pretty much found the clearest path forward.

He didn't need to waste time practicing Fire Release, Earth Release, or any other ninjutsu that required hand seals; they just didn't suit him.

Techniques like the Rasengan, which required no hand seals, might even be compatible with his shockwave force, creating new moves. But that wasn't urgent for now.

What Yuya needed to do now was simple: fully master his shockwave force and become proficient with the most practical basic ninjutsu like Transformation, Substitution, and Clone Techniques.

When he opened the second gate, he would usher in his next surge of strength!
