Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1

c1: Clairvoyance? I Have a Bold Idea

The early summer morning sun was not yet scorching, but standing still for a long time under its baptism was by no means a good experience.

A cool breeze swept through, and the golden wheat fields bent over with rustling sounds. A young man wearing a plain white t-shirt and dark blue casual pants emerged from the wheat field with a bewildered expression.

Lu Xiao, male, currently 25 years old, a corporate employee.

Due to his long-term jogging habit developed during university, his 1.82-meter body was not like most of his colleagues, who were either bloated or scrawny.

It was currently early morning, and Lu Xiao, as a white-collar worker, should have been busy with work.

He rushed out early in the morning, preparing to take the subway to the company. As he stepped through the unit building's gate, the green belt of the residential area, which should have been incredibly familiar, was replaced without warning by a boundless, vast plain.

Just as Lu Xiao was looking around with a bewildered expression, an inorganic voice that couldn't distinguish between male and female sounded in his mind.

"Host binding successful, time-space travel complete, please prepare yourself, world mission will be issued shortly."

For contemporary young people, taking time to read online novels in their leisure time is a common form of recreation, and Lu Xiao was one such web novel enthusiast.

In recent years, System novels have been very popular, and Lu Xiao naturally read many novels where the protagonist had a System, but he didn't expect that one day he would also be chosen by a System and become a host.

...

Through initial communication with the System's intelligent program, Lu Xiao rubbed his temples with a bitter expression, roughly understanding his current situation.

The origin of the plane-traveling System is unknown. Lu Xiao's many probing questions were coldly rejected by it on the grounds of insufficient authority, but he received relatively detailed answers regarding the System's own functions and the host's authority.

Simply put, Lu Xiao was luckily chosen by the System that had been drifting in the multiverse, becoming a traveler who could shuttle back and forth between endless multiverses.

However, while exploring the System's functions, Lu Xiao received some not-so-good information.

As the host, he could not independently control the world he traveled to; it was forcibly selected by the System.

Each time he entered a new world, the System would issue a world mission related to the current world.

When the System judged the world mission to be complete, Lu Xiao could return to his home world, get some rest, and wait for the System to issue the next mission to travel to the next world.

Each time a world mission was completed, Lu Xiao could get one basic lottery chance, with additional rewards depending on the world mission completion rating. Prize content comes from the current mission world.

From the prizes, he could draw skills used by protagonists and antagonists, and might also draw some powerful equipment. Quality depended entirely on luck; the System could only guarantee that the host would never return empty-handed.

Lu Xiao, who had played gacha mobile games for years, had long recognized his luck. Although he wasn't an Africa black uncle with abysmal luck, he was definitely not a Europe who could sneak through with one pull, barely counting as Asian blood.

"Not bad, having a guaranteed minimum is a good civilization."

While exploring the System's functions, Lu Xiao also received good news.

Considering that the host binding the System for the first time was relatively weak, the System prepared a beginner's gift package for Lu Xiao, containing one free lottery chance and a one-time special beginner's world benefit.

Beginner's lottery was not restricted to any world; according to the System, if he was lucky, he might draw a world-destroying ultimate skill, and if he was unlucky, he might only draw a sharp small dagger.

Integration of Assassin's Creed Movie Details:

As Lu Xiao delved deeper into the System's interface, he noticed a peculiar emblem resembling an apple with intricate designs. The System provided a brief description:

"Artifact: Apple of Eden – A relic from the First Civilization, capable of controlling free will. Origin: Assassin's Creed Universe."

This revelation piqued Lu Xiao's interest. He recalled the Assassin's Creed movie, where the protagonist, Callum Lynch, relived his ancestor Aguilar's memories through the Animus, a device that projected genetic memories in a fully immersive environment. The Animus in the film was a massive robotic arm that allowed Lynch to physically experience his ancestor's actions, a stark contrast to the more passive versions in the games .

The System's mention of the Apple of Eden hinted that Lu Xiao's upcoming mission might involve the eternal conflict between the Assassins and the Templars, two factions with opposing ideologies: the Assassins championing free will, and the Templars seeking order through control .

Lu Xiao pondered the possibilities. Would he, like Lynch, be thrust into historical events, reliving the memories of an ancestor? Or would he navigate the modern-day intricacies of Abstergo Industries, the Templar front? The thought of parkour across ancient rooftops, engaging in stealthy assassinations, and uncovering hidden truths both thrilled and unnerved him.

He took a deep breath, steeling himself for the journey ahead. The line between reality and memory was about to blur, and Lu Xiao was ready to leap into the unknown.

Lu Xiao, who had countless gacha experiences, calmly turned the virtual roulette before him, watching the wheel spin rapidly with an expressionless face, but his heart was not as calm as he appeared.

'Come on, bicycle becomes motorcycle! All gods and buddhas, protect me at least let me have a dream start!'

When the roulette stopped under Lu Xiao's wide-eyed gaze, the System's prompt followed.

"Congratulations, Host. You have drawn a random prize: Clairvoyance – Rank D."

Lu Xiao, feigning calmness: "Hmm... hmm?!"

Clicking to read the prize description, Lu Xiao's expression became a bit subtle: "It's a good skill, but D rank... isn't that a bit too low?"

The Clairvoyance Lu Xiao drew came from the Type-Moon World. At a glance, it seemed to merely enhance vision, but the reality was far more profound.

As Clairvoyance improved, the distance and depth it could observe increased exponentially.

At higher ranks, such as A or above, Clairvoyance granted predictive insight and even partial omniscience EX rank users could perceive the totality of time: past, present, and future.

As a pseudo-Moon fan lacking an in-depth understanding of Nasuverse mechanics, Lu Xiao vaguely recalled that the popular "Red A" Archer EMIYA possessed Clairvoyance as an inherent skill, ranked around C.

"Clairvoyance D, Passive Skill: Adjustable vision range. Greatly enhances visual acuity when activated. User can see the veins of a leaf up to one kilometer away."

In the Type-Moon universe, Archer-class Heroic Spirits typically possessed Clairvoyance to enable high-accuracy long-range sniping. EMIYA's rank was modest compared to Arash, the Persian hero famed for his suicidal super-bow technique, who boasted Clairvoyance A, allowing a limited glimpse into future events for targeting.

But Lu Xiao immediately saw the problem.

The Clairvoyance skill was often used with ranged weapons, especially bows. It enabled impossible precision from distances of kilometers, but Lu Xiao… couldn't even draw a bow properly.

"So… this is just long-range HD vision for me?"

Lu Xiao helplessly patted his forehead. "What's the point? Peeping in 4K?"

As a test, he adjusted his focus. His vision sharpened, allowing him to see clearly across the vast wheat field.

Far in the distance, he saw a distinct structure a medieval European-style stone fortress atop a modest hill, partially obscured by lingering morning mist. The grey turrets, buttressed walls, and cross-shaped windows were unmistakably Templar in design.

Lu Xiao, still exploring the System interface and his new ability, had no time to admire the historical beauty. He hadn't even figured out what world he was in.

"System, it's about time to issue the mission, right? Where the hell is this?"

The System's mechanical voice responded promptly.

"World Mission issued: Objective – Retrieve one Piece of Eden. The Return System will activate upon successful acquisition."

"Upon mission completion, host may choose return timing maximum duration: one local year. Additional Pieces of Eden yield enhanced settlement rewards."

"Pieces of Eden?"

Lu Xiao rubbed his chin in thought. 'I've definitely heard of that before…'

Then it hit him like a falling Leap of Faith.

"Ah right." He snapped his fingers and slapped his palm with sudden realization. "This is Assassin's Creed! That thing the Apple of Eden!"

He vaguely remembered scenes from the movie: Callum Lynch, a convicted murderer, relived the genetic memories of his ancestor Aguilar de Nerha, a Master Assassin from 15th-century Spain, through the Animus a large robotic arm interface developed by Abstergo Industries. The Apple of Eden, a mysterious artifact left by an advanced pre-human civilization, was capable of controlling free will precisely what the Templars sought to suppress humanity's chaos.

In the movie, the Apple was more than myth. It was science fiction disguised as divine relic, a glowing sphere of immense power, fought over in the shadows by generations of Assassins and Templars. It was recovered in a deadly skirmish between Aguilar and the Inquisition, then passed down secretly for centuries until Callum rediscovered its location by reliving Aguilar's memories.

"Second Great-Grandfather? Old Lecher? Which generation is this…?" Lu Xiao muttered, realizing the blurred line between memory and reality had just gotten thinner.

He took a long breath. This wasn't just a cosplay mission.

This was war across centuries, bloodlines, and ideologies.
