Chapter 12 - Bastard

The doorbell rang, a sharp sound that shattered the silence. It was an unwelcome intrusion, and Amelia wanted to ignore it.

She didn't want to see anyone.

But she was alone. She had no choice.

Her heart pounded in her chest as she walked toward the door, her legs trembling. She could hear the sound her own breathing. She felt suddenly scared. She opened the door the door and found Jason there. No wonder she suddenly felt scared

"What do you want?" she said, her voice a raspy whisper, her eyes slitting closed, trying to block out his presence.

She felt the darkness threatening to consume - she had been in the cemetery, in the heart of the darkness - and now she had to face it again.

She had spent so long, trying to get over the pain that this bastard has given her. And now just seeing him, felt like it was all in vain

"Should I say I came to offer you my condolences?" Jason said - his voice cold, his words crude. She could hear it in his tone that he didn't care, that he wasn't even trying to pretend.

Amelia closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She knew she had to deal with him. She had to face the reality of his presence.

"Why are you here?" She asked. Her voice was a bare whisper. Her world - her life, her heart - felt empty.

"I came to see you, Amelia." Jason's tone was unwavering— a confirmation of his sense of entitlement. "And to make sure you understand something."

She knew that he was going to say terrible things. She knew that he would make her feel even worse than she already did.

She could hear it in his tone; he was about to inflict the ultimate cruelty— he was going to make her question that she hadn't made a mistake.

She wanted to hide. She wanted to run. She wanted to escape this unbearable pain.

"Well, you can see I'm okay," she said trying to act tough. It was all she could muster in this moment of pain.

"You're not okay, Amelia. You're not going to be okay. You know why?" He leaned closer, his eyes shining with a cruel glee. "Because I'm your mate. And I'm not going away."

He wanted to degrade her - to make her feel broken and vulnerable.

His words were a cruel taunt— a reminder of the power he possessed.

She wanted to scream. To fight back. But she knew that she was powerless.

Amelia swallowed the lump in her throat. There was a bitter taste of powerlessness on her tongue. All she could feel was the cruel reality of her situation. She was trapped.

Jason's tone was a constant reminder of that.

"I'm not your mate," she retorted back.

"We both know that you are," Jason said, his words cold and sharp. He leaned closer, his eyes intense, his scent, a mixture of wildness and masculinity, filling her senses. "And you know that I'm not going to let you change my mind."

Amelia backed away. She didn't want to be near him. She felt vulnerable. She felt exposed.

"Get out," Amelia said. "I don't want to see you."

"I don't think you have any other choice." Jason's tone was smug, his grin a cruel reminder of the power he held over her.

She couldn't fight him. She wasn't strong enough. She needed to escape.

"Just - get out." Amelia said again. She was fighting against the tears that were threatening to spill.

Jason looked down at her. He saw the fear in her eyes - the trembling of her hands. He knew that he had the power - the power to destroy her. He held her face tightly and said....

"You're pathetic. I should have been the one to take you to the cemetery but you let that dork take you. Tell me, did you also let him fuck your pussy? I should've just gone ahead and fucked more sense into you that day. I would have made it clearer. I am warning you, if you let that bastard or any man come close to you, then you would know just how much power I have." It was a final insult, a final reminder of his control.

"I don't want to see you again. Leave." Amelia's voice rising, a sign of her anger.

"I don't think you have any other choice," said Jason. He turned away and walked down the steps, leaving her standing at the door. The sound of his footsteps fading as he walked away was a cruel reminder that he was still there, that he would be back.

Amelia closed the door behind him, and leaned against and muttered

" Bastard"
