Chapter 7 - Unlimited Money System

"Why is the name of the power or the system called the Unlimited Money System? Does this mean I have unlimited money now?" Xavier asked, his voice filled with curiosity and a hint of excitement.

[Open the system menu, Xavier. I will explain how this works.]

Xavier focused on the holographic screen that appeared before him. The menu was simple:

[System Level xx

Balance- 1000/1000

Quest- No quests found.]

[The system has just activated, and your body is yet to get used to it. You need to upgrade the system. With each upgrade, the limit and capacity of your balance will increase.]

"How do I upgrade the system?" Xavier asked, his brow furrowing in thought.

[You need to complete quests and tasks. For simplicity, once you complete 10 quests or tasks, the system will upgrade automatically, and your balance limit will also increase.]

"What's the catch?" Xavier inquired, his mind racing with suspicion.

[Yes, there are penalties and conditions. Because the system is money and money is you, you must keep the penalties and conditions in mind.]

"What are the penalties and conditions?" Xavier asked, his voice tinged with concern.

[First, you need to make your first transaction and let the system synchronize with your body.]

Xavier nodded, determination in his eyes. "I'll go out and buy something."

[Wait, Xavier. You need to carry me with you. I can only communicate with you when you are within a five-meter radius of me.]

Xavier glanced around the room and picked up his bag. He carefully placed the fragment of the goddess rock inside and slung the bag over his shoulder. With a deep breath, he left the apartment.

[Do you have something in mind for your first transaction?]

"Yes," Xavier replied, his voice steady. "I need to buy the most basic and necessary item to survive in the city—a phone."

With that, Xavier left the Nexus Tower, his mind focused on finding a phone store. The city bustled around him, the neon lights and holographic billboards casting a kaleidoscope of colors across the streets. He walked with purpose, the weight of the goddess rock in his bag a comforting presence.

'A phone will change everything,' Xavier thought, his heart pounding with anticipation. 'I'll be able to navigate the city, stay connected, and maybe even find a way to help Eamon and Lilia.'

After walking for a while, Xavier stopped in front of a sprawling, futuristic mall. The structure towered above him, a gleaming monolith of glass and steel that stretched towards the sky. Holographic billboards flickered with vibrant advertisements, and drones zipped through the air, delivering packages to eager shoppers. The entrance was a grand archway, flanked by towering statues of alien humanoids, their forms sleek and otherworldly.

Xavier found the entrance and walked towards it, falling in line behind a group of people. Guards stood at the entryway, their faces stern and unyielding, armed with advanced weapons and scanning machines. He watched as the guards meticulously checked each person, their eyes sharp and discerning.

It was almost Xavier's turn. The person in front of him stepped up to the guards, who began their inspection. Their scanners beeped and flashed as they examined the man's attire—no-brand clothes and a fake luxurious watch. The guards exchanged a glance, their expressions hardening.

"You're not allowed in," one of the guards growled, grabbing the man by the arm and roughly escorting him out of the line. The man protested, but the guards were unmoved.

Xavier's heart raced as he watched the scene unfold. 'Will I meet the same fate?' he wondered, his palms growing sweaty with nervousness. 'Will they throw me out too?' Still, he had to give it a try. He took a deep breath and stepped forward.

As Xavier approached, the guards' eyes widened, and they quickly made way for him to enter. Xavier was shocked, his steps faltering as he glanced back, expecting to see someone important behind him. But there was no one.

He looked at the guards in confusion, and one of them offered him a respectful nod. "Good luck in your academy," the guard said, his voice tinged with admiration.

That's when Xavier realized what was happening. He was wearing his Astraeus Academy uniform, a symbol of status and privilege that commanded respect and deference. It was one of the many perks of being a student at the prestigious academy.

With a newfound sense of confidence, Xavier casually entered the mall. The interior was a breathtaking spectacle of futuristic design and alien technology. The air was filled with the hum of conversation and the soft whir of automated systems. Holographic displays floated in the air, showcasing the latest in human and alien fashion, gadgets, and luxuries.

Alien humanoids mingled with humans, their forms varying from the familiar to the exotic. Some had iridescent skin that shimmered under the lights, while others had bioluminescent markings that glowed softly. They moved with a grace and fluidity that was almost hypnotic, their presence adding an otherworldly allure to the bustling environment.

Xavier walked through the crowded aisles, his eyes wide with wonder. The stores were a blend of sleek, modern designs and alien aesthetics, each one more impressive than the last. He passed by boutiques showcasing clothing made from smart fabrics that adjusted to the wearer's body, and tech shops displaying the latest in holographic communication devices and advanced cybernetics.

'This is incredible,' Xavier thought, his mind racing with the possibilities. 'I've never seen anything like it.'

He made his way towards a store specializing in communication devices, his heart pounding with anticipation. The storefront was a gleaming expanse of glass, with holographic displays showcasing the latest models of phones and tablets. As he stepped inside, he felt a sense of determination wash over him.

He was here to make his first transaction, to activate his power and change his fate.

Xavier glanced around the store, his eyes scanning the various types of devices on display. He quickly made his way to the phone section, where each model was showcased with holographic specifications and advantages floating above them. The sheer variety was overwhelming, and Xavier felt a pang of confusion.

An employee approached him, a friendly smile on their face. "Are you looking for a specific model?" they asked.

"No, I don't have anything in mind," Xavier replied. "Can you recommend something that works just fine?"

The employee nodded and began presenting various phones, highlighting their specifications and unique features. "Do you need a specific brand or a particular function, like a great camera, long battery life, or a high-resolution screen?"

Xavier shook his head. "I just need something reliable that I won't regret buying."

The employee thought for a moment before recommending two models. "We have the Samesan X10 and the Lphone Pro from the brand Banana. Both are excellent choices."

Xavier nodded, considering the options. "My budget is $1000."

The employee smiled. "Both phones are currently on offer and available for $999, including extra benefit plans."

Xavier looked at the phones, his eyes darting between the sleek designs. He liked both, but he couldn't decide. His gaze landed on the Lphone, its dark green color catching his eye. "Can I see that one?" he asked, pointing to the Lphone.

The employee hesitated. "That's actually the previous generation Lphone. The newest model doesn't come in that color."

Xavier frowned, looking closer at the Lphone. "Why do they look the same if one is a newer model?"

The employee shrugged, unable to provide an answer.

Xavier turned his attention to the Samesan models, noticing the subtle yet significant design changes between generations. Since he didn't have a specific feature in mind, he decided on the Samesan X10. "I'll take the Samesan," he said.

The employee nodded. "Great choice. Please go to the counter for payment, and I'll bring the phone to you."

Xavier made his way to the counter, where the Samesan X10 was already waiting. The cashier greeted him with a smile. "Would you like to add any benefits? They're currently free due to a promotion."

Xavier nodded. "Sure, that sounds good."

The cashier placed a scanning device on the counter. "Please complete your payment of $999."

Xavier recalled how he had paid in the academy cafeteria. He placed his thumb on the scanner, and the payment was processed smoothly.

[Payment of $999 completed.]

[Unlimited Money System synchronizing...]

[Synchronization complete.]

[System level set to 1.]

[Balance limit increased from $1000 to $10,000.]

[Next limit: $100,000.]

[Tasks to unlock next limit: 0/10.]

Xavier's eyes widened as he read the notifications. 'It worked,' he thought, a sense of relief and excitement washing over him. 'The system is active, and I have more money now.'

The cashier handed him the Samesan X10, along with a receipt and a small booklet detailing the benefits. "Thank you for your purchase. The phone is already installed with a SIM as an add-on, and it will give three months of free calling and internet. Enjoy your new phone!"

Xavier smiled, feeling a sense of accomplishment. "Thank you," he replied, taking the phone and the documents. As he left the store, he couldn't help but feel a sense of empowerment. He had made his first transaction, activated his power, and taken the first step towards changing his fate.
