Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

When Lin Shuyue arrived, a group of journalists carrying cameras had already surrounded the entrance of the Public Security Bureau, but they were all stopped outside the door by the guards and were asking questions through the guardrails.

"Hello, I'm a reporter from Pengcheng Weekly. May I ask where the police officer in charge of the Suishan case is? Can you ask him to come out and tell us what happened in the case?"

"Yes, we have the right to know this."

"Please also tell us what information you can reveal so that we can give an explanation to the general public who care about the murdered sisters."

There were two guards standing behind the fence. The younger one kept his jaw clenched and didn't speak. The older one said politely and considerately, "We know that our journalist friends are kind-hearted. It's just that it's been less than a day since the arrest. The police officers handling this case have not slept for a day and a night. They are racing against time to investigate the case. Please be more patient and tolerant, and be considerate of those frontline police officers who are fighting on the front line."

Lin Shuyue couldn't help but take another look at the middle-aged guard who was speaking. He was obviously accustomed to this kind of scene. His words were flawless and his response was very experienced.

Reporters from major newspapers were helpless but unwilling to leave, so they continued to stake out the entrance of the police station, hoping to capture some footage, or catch the relevant police officers and get some information from them so they can report to their superiors.

Lin Shuyue was not surprised at all. Her parents were frontline police officers and the police station was her second home when she was a child. Such scenes were not uncommon. It would be strange if reporters could remember the confidentiality regulations and ask something from the police.

She walked to a corner away from the group of reporters, took out her black pager, found a bunch of numbers she had just saved yesterday and dialed them.

After a few beeps, the other end picked up the phone, and He Yuling's gentle voice came over: "Xiao Lin, right? Captain Hang has said that if you come to the police station, I will take you directly to see him. Please wait for me at the side door next to the pedestrian street. There are too many people at the main door."

Lin Shuyue walked around the group of colleagues who were still guarding the gate and waiting anxiously, and followed the instructions to come to the opposite side of the fruit shop on the pedestrian street.

Sure enough, an inconspicuous small door appeared in front of her, and the policewoman was waiting there.

After the two nodded in greeting, they exchanged a few words, walked through the carport into the reception hall, and came to a reception room. Then she took a cup of warm water from the water dispenser by the door and handed it to Lin Shuyue, smiling and saying, "Xiao Lin, wait here for a while, Captain Hang will be here soon."

"Then please excuse me for bothering you, Officer He."

"No, it's okay. You wait here for a moment. I'll go out and do something." Officer He Yuling said and went out.

The reception room of the Public Security Bureau is not big. There is a group of wooden sofas inside. The sofas are separated by a coffee table of the same color as the sofas. There is a coffee table in the middle of the sofas, and there is nothing on it except a tissue box.

In the four corners of the reception room were placed green plants that Lin Shuyue couldn't name, and they were about one meter tall.

After the policewoman left, Lin Shuyue felt a little bored sitting there alone, so she stood up and walked to the window to look outside.

That was the backyard of the Public Security Bureau. The walls were surrounded by green trees and there was a basketball court in the middle. Next to the basketball court was a brown-red plastic track. Between the track and the basketball court were rows of training equipment.

A group of young policemen wearing uniform short-sleeved shirts and shorts are sweating and doing physical training seriously.

Seeing this scene, Lin Shuyue couldn't help but think of her life before she traveled through time.

When studying at the People's Public Security University, not only must you not fall behind in academic subjects, but physical training classes are also essential.

Looking at the young policemen sweating profusely under the scorching sun, Lin Shuyue felt a little nostalgic and wished she could join them.

This feeling is very subtle, similar to the feeling of looking forward to holidays when in school and thinking about going to school during holidays.

With a "creak", the door of the reception room was pushed open from the outside. Lin Shuyue looked up and saw Captain Hang holding a green folder in his hand.

He nodded his chin towards the sofa and said, "Sit down."

  Lin Shuyue sat over there.

Captain Hang closed the door and sat opposite Lin Shuyue: "Let me introduce myself first, my name is Hang Jiabai."

"You should understand the process of yesterday's arrest without my detailed explanation. I believe you have almost learned the details of the case. Do you have any questions?"

Lin Shuyue had never worked as a reporter, but the original owner had experience. On the way from her workplace to the Public Security Bureau, she had already prepared the questions she wanted to ask.

She took out a black leather notebook and a black water-based pen from her backpack and asked the questions she wanted to ask.

"Captain Hang, I want to ask about the murderer's motive... his family background..."

After asking the last question, Lin Shuyue stood up and left: "Thank you for your cooperation, Captain Hang."

Lin Shuyue stretched out her right hand towards Captain Hang. Captain Hang also stood up, looked at Lin Shuyue's hand for two seconds, and stretched out his hand with a smile.

His hands were big, with long fingertips and distinct joints. His palms were covered with thick calluses, and were warm, dry and rough.

The two held hands gently, and then separated quickly. Lin Shuyue walked out the door with her backpack, and Captain Hang followed with a folder.

Officer He was busy receiving a citizen who came to report a crime. Lin Shuyue stood there and listened. Her money was stolen. She was walking on the road just fine. Two minutes ago, she took out her wallet to buy something, and it disappeared in the blink of an eye.

A group of policemen in their twenties came out from outside, several of them were girls. They were wearing police uniforms, standing tall and looking heroic.

Lin Shuyue passed by them, and her heart felt as if a seasoning bottle had been overturned, with a bitter taste in her heart.

She was supposed to be one of them.

  Now she is a journalist.

Lin Shuyue decided that she would go back and look into how to take the civil service exam. She wanted to be employed by the Public Security Bureau.

However, just as she made up her mind, the good and evil classification system popped up: [ The host's occupation has been bound to the journalist profession, and the host cannot change it without authorization. ]

Lin Shuyue was confused: [ What does this mean? ]

The good and evil classification system didn't waste any time. It just suspended the screen in the air and played a video.

The video shows her grandparents and her in a temple. Inside the temple, she is standing outside the door looking at a magnolia tree full of flowers, while her grandparents are inside asking an old monk to tell her fortune.

The old monk said that if she did not work in dangerous industries, such as the military or police, she could live a long life. But if she did, she would face a life-and-death crisis at the age of 21. If she survived, her life would be smooth.

Lin Shuyue looked at the two elderly people in the video greedily, and her eyes gradually turned red.

She suddenly remembered that when she was filling out her college application, her grandparents were very dissatisfied with her decision to attend the Public Security University. Her grandmother beat her for the first time in her life.

She didn't understand at all at that time. She cried and shouted to restart the alarm for her parents, and didn't take her grandmother's fortune-telling seriously.

Her grandparents finally gave in, but their only requirement was that she work as a clerk.

  Lin Shuyue agreed.

The week before she chased the human traffickers, she had just celebrated her 20th birthday and turned 21!

Lin Shuyue put her hands over her eyes: [ I have died once, has my calamity not yet passed? ]

[ No. Fate is predetermined by heaven and will not change even if time and space change. ]

The video continued to play, and the grandparents in the video expressed their concern for her future fate. The two old people had not smiled since they left the main hall, and their brows were furrowed.

Lin Shuyue felt bitter. Her mother was a criminal police officer, and her father was also a criminal police officer. Her mother died while chasing a serial killer when she was five years old. She was sixteen when her father died.

Her grandparents lost two children in a row within ten years.

Lin Shuyue was also very glad that she died after them. Otherwise, she couldn't imagine how sad the two old people would be when the news of her sacrifice was passed back.

Lin Shuyue's mind flashed back to the words her grandmother said in a soft voice when she was about to apply for the college entrance examination.

She closed her eyes. The sun outside was shining on her skin, so hot that it seemed like it could burn her.

Lin Shuyue walked outside mechanically. A bright five-star red flag stood in the front yard of the Public Security Bureau.

It is windy today, and the wind is hot. The five-star red flag flutters in the wind.

Lin Shuyue looked for a long time, then turned around and walked out.

Mr. Zhang, the wheelchair-bound teacher who taught them theoretical lessons, once said that there is not only one way to serve the motherland, as long as you have the will, you can be in any industry!

This sentence can also be applied to Lin Shuyue's current situation. Criminals can be dealt with not only by being a police officer, but also by being a reporter.

A man was standing by the window of an office on the second floor, his eyes following the bouncing ponytail.

Zhao Youcheng walked up to him and looked outside. Lin Shuyue had already turned the corner and disappeared from sight.

"Captain Hang, what are you looking at? Looking at those reporters. What's so good about them?"

Captain Hang retracted his gaze: "I'm not looking at anything. Hurry up and clean up. How is Lu Yukang's case going?"

Zhao Youcheng immediately retracted his gaze: "Still not saying anything."

"Retrial, pry his mouth open for me."

"Yes." The two talked, strode out, and threw themselves into their intense work.

In Shenzhen at this time, there are many motorcycle taxis parked on the roadside. Motorcycle taxis are everywhere. The starting fare is one yuan, and two yuan for farther places.

Lin Shuyue thought again of how she was cheated into paying five yuan for a five-minute motorcycle ride yesterday, and she sighed. Who would have thought that one day she would be ripped off by riding a motorcycle?

She took the bus to the office, took the elevator to the fifth floor, pushed open the glass door of the office, and a gust of cold air rushed into her head, completely dissipating the heat she brought back from outside.

Lin Shuyue first used a disposable cup to fill a glass of refrigerated water from the water dispenser at the door. As soon as the water went down her throat, she felt cool all over and her heart was lifted.

The reporters from the news department were all out covering the news. Lin Shuyue turned on her computer, opened the document, picked up the title, and began writing tomorrow's report.

The old-fashioned computer was a bit slow to respond, but she soon became familiar with its operation and began typing away.

The desks in the newspaper office were lined up together, and the sound of Lin Shuyue typing on the keyboard was still eye-catching in the not-so-quiet office.

Everyone stood up and looked for the source, slowly gathering behind Lin Shuyue.

Lin Shuyue is a person who can easily immerse herself in work. Her ten slender white fingers fly across the keyboard, as lightly and quickly as dancing. Characters appear on the blank document as she types.

After finally typing the last period, Lin Shuyue stretched herself and was startled when she looked up and saw the pairs of bright and excited eyes around her.
