Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Have You Ever Heard of a Psychic Pony? Holy Sh*t! A Pokémon Motivational Coach?!

Chapter 19: Have You Ever Heard of a Psychic Pony? Holy Sh*t! A Pokémon Motivational Coach?! Ye Yinchuan was pondering how to phrase his explanation in a way that would be both convincing and entertaining for the stream.

"If I'm not mistaken, this Ponyta isn't a newborn, yet it hasn't grown its fiery mane. That must mean it hasn't been able to learn any Fire-type moves either, right?"

Officer Tan froze for a moment, then glanced at the female officer—the Ponyta's true owner.

She nodded.

She had been training this Ponyta for a while, even letting it interact with other Ponytas in hopes of it learning Fire-type moves, but to no avail.

"That's correct, young man," Officer Tan replied, curiosity creeping into his voice. "But what exactly is going on here?"

[Heh, I've heard of white tigers, but a white Ponyta? First time!]

[A Ponyta that can't use Fire moves? That's just ridiculous.]

[Streamer, keep spinning your tales!]

Ye Yinchuan was slightly puzzled himself.

Even if this Ponyta couldn't use Fire-type moves, it did know Confusion. Had it really never used it before?

But on second thought, the Ponyta probably didn't even realize it was Psychic-type. Its trainer had been pushing it toward Fire-type training, and without any danger forcing it to react, it might never have had a reason to use Confusion.

After all, no one else could see Pokémon stat panels.

Some Pokémon might naturally possess certain moves, but if their trainers didn't know and they never used them, those skills could remain buried forever.

Professional trainers and breeders didn't just teach new moves—sometimes, they uncovered hidden ones!

"Right. I suspect this Ponyta has mutated into a different type."

Ye Yinchuan deliberately slowed his speech, adopting a mysterious tone.

His humble yet confident demeanor gave the impression that he knew exactly what he was talking about.

[A type-mutated Pokémon? But wouldn't there be obvious traits?]

[Wait, did it mutate into Normal-type? That'd be useless!]

Officer Tan's expression flickered with surprise. He leaned back slightly, exchanging a glance with the female officer before pressing further:

"What type did it mutate into?"

The entire audience—both in the room and in the livestream—held their breath.

[Hurry up, I'm dying here!]

[Streamer, spit it out already!]

[I have a friend on their deathbed who just wants to know what type this Ponyta mutated into!]

A Pokémon's typing was crucial.

If, as the chat speculated, this Ponyta had mutated into a Normal-type, that'd be a tragedy.

Fire was already a strong, combat-effective type.

Normal-type? Well, it was as "normal" as the name suggested—middling and unremarkable.

"Psychic. This Ponyta mutated into a Psychic-type!"

The moment Ye Yinchuan said it—

Officer Tan's pupils contracted, and he turned to the female officer with undisguised excitement.

[Psychic?!]

[HOLY SH*T! A PSYCHIC PONY?! That's like trading a bicycle for a motorcycle!]

[Wait, for real?]

The reactions from both Officer Tan and the chat made it clear: Psychic-types were valuable.

Mysterious, powerful, with devastating special attacks—that was the reputation of Psychic Pokémon.

Pure Psychic-types were especially rare.

Pokémon like Abra, Wobbuffet, or Gardevoir weren't just hard to breed—they were scarce in the wild and even harder to catch.

A Ponyta mutating into a Psychic-type? That was beyond anyone's wildest dreams.

"Young man, if this Ponyta really is Psychic, you've just made our year. But you'd better be sure—don't get our hopes up for nothing. This kind of thing is rarer than winning the lottery!"

Hearing the caution in Officer Tan's voice, Ye Yinchuan waved a hand dismissively.

"Officer Tan, don't worry—I wouldn't dare lie. And honestly, who'd be stupid enough to trick the Pokémon Protection Bureau? I kinda like having a livestream career."

He decided not to drag it out.

"How about this: seeing is believing. Try throwing something at the Ponyta and see how it reacts. If I'm right, this Ponyta naturally knows Confusion—it's just never been properly trained to use it."

[He can tell that too?]

[Streamer, admit it—you've got hacks, don't you?]

Officer Tan nodded and immediately coordinated with his team.

They grabbed a ping-pong ball.

Finally, the Ponyta's owner—the female officer—stepped into frame, crouching beside the Ponyta to reassure it:

"Polly, we're going to throw something at you. Don't dodge, and don't try to knock it away physically. Use your mind to stop it. We won't hurt you, so don't be scared."

[Damn, that officer's gorgeous.]

[No wonder she named it Polly—she's the real owner!]

[Her voice is so gentle—is she Officer Judy Hopps or something?]

Then, an unhinged viewer sent a photo—a chubby young man on all fours, Photoshopped to look like a Ponyta, captioned:

"Officer, can I be your little pony too?"

The chat erupted:

[MY EYES—]

[Sometimes, being online makes me want to call the police.]

[Officer Tan, ARREST THIS MAN!]

Officer Tan, who was also monitoring the chat, nearly lost his composure at the image.

"Some of you need to calm down! If this 'Ponyta' weren't protected by law, I'd smack it myself!"

[Officer Tan, why reward him like that?]

[Enough jokes—I wanna see the Psychic Pony!]

Back to the test—

Officer Tan's team tossed a ping-pong ball at the Ponyta.

Plink!

The Ponyta flinched, instinctively turning its head to avoid the ball—but remembering its trainer's words, it let the ball bounce off its face.

[Uh… not working.]

[Reported! The Bureau is abusing Ponytas now!]

[LMAO, Officer Tan actually fell for this?]

Officer Tan shot an awkward look at Ye Yinchuan.

If the streamer was just spouting nonsense, the Bureau's reputation would take a serious hit today.

"Don't stop. Keep going."

Ye Yinchuan checked the Ponyta's status panel: [Nervous, Anxious, Insecure].

He realized—this Ponyta had likely grown up feeling like an outcast, unable to learn Fire moves like its peers. That insecurity was holding it back.

So he leaned into the camera and spoke directly to the Ponyta:

"Polly, you've always struggled with Fire-type moves, haven't you? Have you felt… lesser because of it? But listen—that wasn't your fault. The world just didn't see how special you are. Until now."

"You're not a failure. You're unique. You're precious. You're powerful."

"Remember—your trainer believes in you. And you should believe in yourself too. Right now, focus. Can you feel that energy inside you? That's your power. Use it to catch those ping-pong balls—just like catching all the doubt and criticism thrown your way—and throw them back!"

[HOLY SH*T! A POKÉMON MOTIVATIONAL COACH?!]

[I'm so fired up I'm rolling on the floor!]

[Why does this speech sound familiar…]

[STOP MAKING ME LAUGH!]

On screen, ping-pong balls kept flying at the Ponyta as its trainer cheered it on, her face full of concern.

The Ponyta seemed to understand Ye Yinchuan's words. Its eyes flickered—first at the camera, then at its trainer—before filling with determination.

Its entire body tensed as if gathering strength.

In Ye Yinchuan's eyes, the Ponyta's status updated: [Encouraged].

Then—

A pink aura flared around the Ponyta, outlining its body.

The next ping-pong ball hurled at it froze mid-air, enveloped in the same energy.

Confusion.

Without a doubt, this was the signature Psychic-type move!

Officer Tan and his team stared in awe. The female officer was practically glowing with joy.

The chat, after a beat of stunned silence, exploded.

[WAIT, IT ACTUALLY WORKED?!]

[PSYCHIC PONYTA! IT'S REAL!]

[Did it… understand him?!]

[HATERS, APOLOGIZE TO THE STREAMER!]

Ye Yinchuan finally exhaled in relief.

Thank goodness it worked.

If this Ponyta was Psychic but couldn't prove it, he'd have been labeled a fraud and torn apart.

He hadn't been sure the Ponyta would understand him.

But refusing to give up, he'd poured his heart into that pep talk—and somehow, it worked. Whether by coincidence or because its trainer's encouragement had already primed it, the Ponyta had unleashed Confusion!
