Not Bad Either
The moonlit night illuminated the earth, the sound of crickets and owls echoed from afar. We prepared to enter the museum whose location we had found a few minutes ago.
Everyone was preparing their equipment, such as the Nebula Weapon, potions, pistols, orbs, and also masks to cover their faces just in case any enemies knew our identities.
I put on black gloves, inserted my fingers into them, pulled the gloves down to fit snugly, and released them.
I took the mask from inside my hooded jacket and put it on my face. The mask had a normal shape like most masks, with a black color and gold lines surrounding the eyeholes. I took the edge of my jacket's hood with one hand and pulled it up to cover my head.
"Let's go." Andreas voice deepened as he put on his mask.
From a distance, the museum appeared to have a dome in the center, with a triangular pediment supported by four pillars at the front.
We began walking towards the front door of the museum, which was filled with unusual plants. Mushrooms grew between the cracks in the building. Moss and other green plants covered the damaged walls. Only a few parts of the shattered windowpanes remained.
We stopped right in front of the museum entrance. Inside, there was a large three-tiered fountain with a phoenix statue at the top. Moonlight streamed through the glass dome, beautifully illuminating the fountain.
"Be ready. There's a possibility enemies are waiting for us." Andreas whispered.
I glanced to the right, and my eyes happened to land on Velyna. I looked at her closely; she didn't seem worried at all. Was this normal for them?
Everyone entered the museum. Immediately after they entered, a second floor could be seen along the museum wall, with stairs near the entrance leading up.
When the sound of their footsteps echoed, they felt and heard the sound of a gun being pointed at them.
"Scatter!" Andreas' voice boomed inside the large museum. Bullets flew towards them but missed. Immediately, Nathan and Arthur ran up the right staircase and hid behind the supporting pillars near the railing.
Andreas, Velyna, and Elena were behind the supporting pillars to the left of the entrance. Meanwhile, Claire, Noah, and Cleavon each hid behind the supporting pillars below.
"Why did it have to turn out like this?" Velyna muttered, slightly annoyed.
"Everyone, throw smoke bombs at them. No need to attack unless necessary." Andreas voice was slightly commanding.
"So, attacking is allowed if needed, right?" Noah replied with a slightly intrigued tone.
Andreas chuckled softly. "Of course."
"Let me throw the bomb." Arthur said to me, with one foot resting on his toes and the other knee bent. The mask covering his face was the same as mine.
"You try to go forward and steal the documents; it seems like one of them has it. I'll support you from behind with my Nebula Weapon." He continued speaking without giving me a chance to reply.
"Alright." Arthur took out a smoke bomb from his side, lit it, and threw it on the floor we were on, which was the second floor. As soon as the gray smoke bomb activated, I immediately ran forward.
Suddenly, from the smoke, the tip of a sword approached my neck. I immediately parried it with the side of my sword. Luckily, I could see clearly thanks to this night vision mask.
He tried to attack me repeatedly, but I kept parrying while stepping back slightly before he suddenly clenched his fist and pointed his hand at me. Blades were fired from his hand towards my right chest. Luckily, I managed to dodge, and only my right arm was hit.
I backed away slightly, took a deep breath before dashing forward, focusing my Galactic Energy on my legs. Even though I was fast, he could parry me. I kept landing attacks, but he could still parry them; it seemed he had consumed a strength potion.
I kept trying to slash and stab him in every way, but he kept successfully parrying with his sword. We fought fiercely. When his attention was on my sword swing, I released two orbs and controlled them towards the right and left sides of his chest. However, he managed to evade the right chest attack and only his arm was hit, while he covered his left side with an elastic iron robe that could withstand the orb.
In pain, he quickly backed away from me before kneeling down in pain, holding his right hand.
"Any last words?" I walked towards him little by little. He looked at me with an annoyed gaze.
Suddenly, a stone wall formed in front of me. Panicked—I tried to evade it by running backward while facing forward. Four stone walls formed in front of me.
Three of his friends could be seen coming from a distance. One in front of me was throwing a smoke bomb, one in the middle was on guard while holding his sword, and one in the back was helping the person I had just fought. Immediately after the person in the back left carrying the person I fought, the other two ran out following him.
"Wait!" I shouted, not too loudly, while running to chase them.
"Nathan!" Arthur called my name while running and shouting from behind. I turned back to look at him.
"The fight is over."
"Andreas and the others have also obtained the documents."
I looked down, and so did Arthur, to see Andreas and the others who had obtained the Pillar Of Creation document. He raised his hand holding a book—waving while smiling slightly.
"You guys were too busy fighting." Noah also waved his hand.
"Good job." One of Cleavon's hands rested on his hip.
Velyna smiled faintly, Claire called both of our names, while Elena was laughing, covering her slightly laughing mouth with her clenched hand by Claire's action.
I glanced to the left at Arthur; he waved his hand at the friends below. Unconsciously, a faint smile formed on my face. Well, like this isn't bad either.
I approached the railing that prevented people from falling. I held it with one hand—jumped to the first floor by leaning on the railing. Upon landing, I slightly bent my knees before returning to an upright position. I looked to the upper left; Arthur was doing the same as me.
Arthur and I walked towards them. The title of the book Andreas was holding on his right hip was "Pillar Of Creation Documentation" with the author written as "EOTU".
"Have you guys opened the document?" My eyes immediately went to the source of the voice, which was Arthur to my left.
"Not yet." Andreas replied before looking at the book cover. He then opened the first page and the first spread of the book. Everyone gathered around Andreas who was holding the book.
Written on the paper was, "We are just an advanced breed of monkeys on a minor planet of a very average star. But we can understand the Universe. That makes us something very special. - Stephen Hawking."
