Chapter 9 - Eldest Senior Brother

"Woah now, no need for that, we're all a part of the same sect right? We should get along with eachother. You never know, in the future you may need the help of one of those Outer disciples or one of them may turn out to be a future Nascent Soul expert."

James was speaking to the Inner disciples as much as reminding himself. In all the novels he read in his previous life, the protagonist had humble beggings and clawed his way up to the top.

"Ha! My father said anyone who is an Outer disciple isn't worth getting tk know becauseall they are good for is menial tasks and wasting sect resources. I'm an Inner disciple, that means my talent is something the trash Outer disciples could only dream of. Speaking if dreaming, you're dreaming if you think i'll ever need their help for anything aside from picking up my magic dog's poop! Hahahah!"

The entire group of inner disciples began laughing, imagining someone accepting a mission to pick up dog poop. Just the idea of it was hilarious.

'Well I guess they are still kids…'

"So if you all think that the Outer disciples are tradh, does that mean the disciples over there think the same about you guys?"

James then pointed up towards the summit where thr Core disciples were talking and laughing. All the Inner disciples stopped laughing and had dark expressions. Clearly they understood James was implying they were trash but since he used the Core disciples as a reference to make his point, they couldn't argue. Just as James was about to keep talking…

"Hey! If you keep pointing at us like that i'll come down there and break your finger!"

James looked over and saw a kid around 12 years old walking over from the Core disciple area. He had red hair and his robe was all black unlike the pure white robes that the other disciples were wearing.

"Hi, my name's James, we were just talking about you and the other Core disciples. How about we all go chat together at the summit, the view must be really nice up there?"

"First off, I never asked for your name. Second, why would us Core disciples ever associate ourselves you people?"

The surrounding Inner disciples shifted uncomfortably. Here they were saying almost the same thing about the Outer disciples but when a Core disciple said it about them, they felt indignant. While feeling down, they were use to it as they were taught to recognize the difference in status between disciples.

"Normally people would introduce themselves and say their name back but I guess whichever Elder of the sect that took you in never taught you manners."

All the surrounding cultivators looked stunned and stares wide eyed at James. Had this weirdo just insulted an Elder of the sect? Not only that, but he ridiculed the Elder's teachings in front of their disciple. The Inner disciples began to whisper to eachother after hearing the heated conversation.

"Did this crazy person just insult not only Senior brother Galron but also his master's teachings?"

"Does he not recognize the black cloth? Senior brother Galron has been given the title of Eldest Senior brother and holds the top spot in the younger generation's rankings. While we've only just started cultivating, Senior brother Galron has achieved Mana Gathering level 7, the highest cultivation among all Core disciples. The closest one to him is Sara, 2nd in the ranking and she has a cultivation of Mana Gathering level 5."

"You don't even need to mention his cultivation level, just the fact that he's the disciple of the Vice Sect leader proves his talent. This guy is insane for picking a fight with him."

James overhearing their whispers was stunned.

'When did I insult his master? If anything I only insulted him. Also, looks like the reason this Galron guy is dressed different from the others is because he holds the top spot in the new generation's rankings. Good information to know but I wonder when and how the rankings were made. I remember my master mentioning in one of his lectures that most people don't start their cultivation before the age of 10 and that he noticed i've been cultivating for as long as he's known me. He also said i'm 'Blessed by the Heavens' whatever that means.'

Glaron showed a dark expression hearing James' reply and the whispers from the Inner disciples around them.

'This no name new disciple, who's probably never cultivated before dares to disrespect me! If I don't step out now, any random disciple in the future will have the confidence to insult me.'

With each thought, Galron became more and more angry. His pride as the top genius of his generation in the sect, which has built up over years of praise from his master and fellow disciples, has been challenged for the first time. He hated it.

Without another word, Galron reached out and grabbed James by the collar.

"A weakling like you has no right to even talk back to me! Know your place!"

Galron then clenched his other fist and aimed to punch James in the face. He was going to make sure to show everone watching that they should show respect when talking to him.

Just as the punch was nearing his face, James reached up and grabbed his hand. Without delay, he stepped between Galron's legs, put his free hand behind his head and twisted his body, sending Galron face first into the dirt. James now held Galron's arm behind his back and kept a knee on him so he couldn't move.

Due to his training over the years with his Senior sister, James' physical strength had improved. While his strength was not as exagerated as Eric's, he could still rival a 13 year old. Not only that but James acquiring the Elementary Sword Intent made his every move carry a sharp strengthened edge. It was a subconscious buff that was added to every movement of his body, like an aura manifestation of his sword comprehension.
