At sixteen, Dren Valemont enrolled in the Sealers' Academy, not by his own merit, but because of the legacy of his grandfather—the legendary man who once saved the world from being consumed by creatures from dimensional rifts.

Like all teenagers, Dren was given an orb, an artifact that, during adolescence, begins to reflect its bearer’s magical and emotional affinity. The orb doesn’t just measure magical potential; it responds to an inner drive to protect, to fight, and to sacrifice. This connection is known as the Echo Bond—a resonance between the user’s soul and the purpose that drives them.

But Dren’s orb remains dormant.

No response. No light. No power. As if the revered legacy he carries isn’t enough to awaken the bond. To others, he’s a disappointment—a glorious name in an empty shell.

And yet, Dren refuses to give up.

He won’t rely on a power that won’t answer him. Instead, he will be trained by a legendary assassin who will teach him to fight with speed, precision, and lethality—blending martial arts and weaponry into a combat style as efficient as it is relentless.

I'm just a newbie writer trying this out for fun in my free time. This story, "No Magic, Just My Own System" is something I've been wanting to write for a while now.


Heads up: the beginning might feel a little slow, but I'm taking my time to set things up right. Hopefully, it'll be worth it—and maybe even surprise you!
