Chapter 44 - Chapter 42: The Sister-in-law and the Brother-in-law

Liu Jian was indeed tired and fell asleep after a while. In a daze, he felt someone come in and cover him with a blanket. He didn't know how long he had slept when he felt his ear itching. He opened his eyes and saw Ren Yingying lying next to him, having found a foxtail grass somewhere, poking it around in his ear. Seeing Liu Jian wake up, she wasn't afraid, but giggled.

Ren Yingying was also lying on the kang, and through the opening of her shirt, Liu Jian saw a patch of white. He realized she wasn't wearing a bra. The thought made his lower abdomen heat up, and his gaze became fiery. Ren Yingying, innocent and naive, hadn't noticed her soon-to-be brother-in-law taking advantage of her.

Liu Jian lay still, not moving. This angle was excellent; he could see many things very clearly. He asked, "Yingying, what time is it? Where's your sister?"

Ren Yingying smiled sweetly and said, "Almost four o'clock. You can really sleep. Mom and sister went to town to buy things. They said we're having a feast tonight and inviting the whole village to eat. Soon-to-be brother-in-law, my sister said you gave her two thousand yuan. Is that true?"

Liu Jian smiled and said, "What's real or fake about it? Why didn't you go shopping?"

Ren Yingying snorted and said, "I wanted to go, but Mom wouldn't let me. She told me to stay home and watch you. What's interesting to watch about a grown man like you!"

Liu Jian followed his collar, saw a hint of red, and then took a few more peeks, saying, "Yingying, which university are you planning to apply to?"

Ren Yingying's eyes dimmed as she said, "I want to apply to teachers college. I heard from the teacher that teachers college has low tuition and it's easy to find a job."

Liu Jian frowned and said, "Why teachers college? If you can get into Tsinghua or Peking University, then apply. Don't worry about the tuition. You have your sister and me. You just focus on your studies. This is a lifelong thing, don't overthink it. You'll regret it later if you do."

Ren Yingying exclaimed and sat up, saying, "Brother-in-law, are you serious? You and my sister will support me through school?"

Seeing Ren Yingying sit up, Liu Jian sighed inwardly. The beautiful view was gone, so he sat up as well and said with a smile, "Don't worry, just focus on your studies. You don't have to worry about anything else. You're too young to understand now, but there's a huge difference between a good university and an average one. Study hard and don't let me and your sister down."

Ren Yingying threw herself into Liu Jian's arms, happily exclaiming, "Thank you, brother-in-law! Don't worry, I will definitely repay you in the future."

Liu Jian felt the surging waves against his chest, especially without a bra, the sensation was even more real. He couldn't help but exhale deeply, taking the opportunity to hug Ren Yingying and take advantage. He said, "What repaying? We're all family, no need to be so polite." But in his heart, he thought: They say a brother-in-law is halfway to the sister-in-law's butt, we're not strangers, a little feel is okay.

Just as his hand was about to reach down, he heard Madam Ren's voice from outside: "Yingying, is your brother-in-law awake?"

Ren Yingying hurriedly responded and broke free from Liu Jian's embrace, running outside to say, "Mom, brother-in-law is awake, you're back."

After a while, Ren Shanshan entered the room with a towel in her hand, gently wiping Liu Jian's face. That kind of attitude made Liu Jian feel a little overwhelmed, and he grabbed Ren Shanshan's hand, saying, "What are you doing? There's no need for this."

Ren Shanshan shook her head and said, "You don't understand, what you give me is something I need to spend my whole life repaying. By the way, I heard Yingying say you agreed to pay for her university education?"

Liu Jian nodded and said, "Yingying isn't an outsider, she's my sister-in-law, I'll help if I can, after all, it's a lifetime thing." When he mentioned sister-in-law, Liu Jian couldn't help but think of the scene he had just seen, and his eyes lit up.

Over the years, Ren Shanshan had developed a keen eye for detail. Although Liu Jian's gaze was fleeting, it was still noticed by Ren Shanshan. She thought for a moment, then revealed a mysterious smile, but said, "Xiao Jian, four years of university will cost a lot of money, right?"

Before Ren Shanshan could finish speaking, Liu Jian interrupted her, saying, "Yingying, money is nothing to me, and it won't be a problem for you in the future either. I've been thinking about it on the way here, and I haven't told you yet, but when you graduate next year, I want you to come and help me at my company. I plan to set up a branch office in Shenyang, and you'll be the manager of that office, with an annual salary of 100,000."

Ren Yingying was dumbfounded, stunned in place. Liu Jian had been very good to her recently, buying her many things and giving her some spending money. But all of this was like duckweed without roots; without Liu Jian, it would all disappear. It was all earned with her body. Although Liu Jian was willing to go home with her to meet her parents, she still thought it was just a temporary infatuation, and maybe it would all be gone after a while. So, Ren Shanshan was very conflicted. But she didn't expect Liu Jian to have considered all of this. Now he was offering her a job, and a job with an annual salary of 100,000. What kind of concept was that? The whole village might not earn that much money in a year of farming. With this job, Ren Shanshan could truly change her destiny.

Ren Shanshan almost burst into tears and threw herself into Liu Jian's arms, saying, "Don't worry, I will be good to you. For the rest of my life, I will be yours alone. No matter how you treat me in the future, I will never leave you."

Liu Jian didn't say anything, he just gently patted Ren Shanshan's shoulder. Suddenly, Liu Jian saw a figure flash outside the door. It was Ren Yingying. It seemed she wanted to come in and call them, but when she saw the two hugging each other, she hid at the door and peeked without coming in. Thinking of this, Liu Jian's guilty conscience acted up, and he suddenly hugged Ren Shanshan and kissed her. Ren Shanshan was moved, and passionately responded to Liu Jian. After a while, when he saw the figure leaving, Liu Jian separated from Ren Shanshan.

Ren Shanshan seemed to have noticed something and glanced back. Liu Jian seemed to feel like he had been caught in the act and smiled embarrassedly. Ren Shanshan didn't say anything, affectionately took Liu Jian's arm, and walked out.

Only then did Liu Jian realize that the entire courtyard was filled with tables. Ren's mother and a woman were placing bowls and chopsticks on the tables. A shed was set up at the entrance, with a stove inside. A middle-aged man was enthusiastically cooking, with several women assisting him. Ren's father was handing out Honghe cigarettes to the guests around. It seemed he was reluctant to part with the thirty-yuan Zhonghua cigarettes, so he had put them away. The Honghe cigarettes were bought by Ren Shanshan. However, in the village, Honghe was considered a good cigarette, and many people were still smoking dry tobacco. The four-yuan Honghe cigarettes were only brought out when entertaining guests.

Today, Ren's father was uncharacteristically generous, handing out Red River cigarettes to everyone who came. The villagers all praised him for being fortunate, having such a good daughter who not only got into university but also found a son-in-law with such good prospects. Ren's father was so happy he couldn't stop smiling.

As soon as Liu Jian and Ren Shanshan came out, they became the focus of everyone's attention. All the relatives, like the great aunts and aunts, swarmed around them, chattering and asking about Liu Jian's family situation. Liu Jian said with a smile, "My home is in Jilin Province. We have two factories and a company, and I work as a manager in my own family's company."

The crowd gasped in surprise. Ren Shanshan's aunt asked curiously, "Then how did you and Shanshan meet? I remember Shanshan was studying in Shenyang."

Liu Jian held Ren Shanshan's hand and said, "My family opened a branch company in Shenyang. Shanshan has been working at our company during her vacations. She is very ambitious and works very hard. Over time, we developed feelings for each other. After Shanshan graduates next year, she will return to our company to work, and she will be the manager of our branch company."

The way everyone looked at Ren Shanshan immediately changed. Although they didn't know how high a manager's position was, it was definitely bigger than their village chief's. They didn't expect that Ren Shanshan's university admission would lead to such a good future. There had been gossip in the village that Ren Shanshan wasn't doing well outside, otherwise, why wouldn't she come home for several years? Liu Jian's few words dispelled the rumors. It turned out she had been working during her vacations.

Everyone looked at Ren Shanshan with envy. It's really good to go to school, there's a way out. Several parents decided to go back and make their children study hard. Didn't you see that Ren Shanshan went to university, found a good job, and also found a rich boyfriend? Liu Jian didn't expect that his few words would change the atmosphere of the entire village. For the next ten years or so, every year this village had students admitted to universities, many of them prestigious universities, and it became a well-known university village in Baoding City.

As it was getting dark, the guests all arrived. The food and drinks were brought out, and Liu Jian even brought out the Pan Shi Yuan Jiang (literally "Bedrock Original Mash") from the Sanbao Winery, placing a bottle on each table and saying that it was produced by his own factory.

The villagers had never drunk such good liquor, especially the eye-catching packaging of the Pan Shi Yuan Jiang and the artistic-looking bottles. It caused a wave of surprise. Everyone drank a cup, and even those who didn't usually drink secretly took a few sips, all praising how good the liquor was. When the party broke up, Ren's mother discovered that all those beautiful bottles were gone, and she was extremely distressed.

Later, a joke emerged: some people who came to the village to collect antiques discovered the bottles and thought they were antiques. The villagers had kept them in very good condition and were reluctant to sell them. Several people even bought back a few at high prices. If the Pan Shi Yuan Jiang hadn't been launched nationwide later, perhaps the remaining bottles would have been bought up as well.

Liu Jian didn't get a break. Holding a wine glass, he and Ren Shanshan went around toasting people. In a way, the villagers saw this as Ren Shanshan and Liu Jian's wedding wine, so they had to drink a cup at every table. Some of the elderly even grabbed Liu Jian's hand and told him to take good care of Ren Shanshan, because she was the most promising child in their village.

Later, Liu Jian just kept nodding, drinking one cup after another, and had no idea what he said or promised. Ren's mother couldn't stand it anymore and had Ren Shanshan and Ren Yingying help Liu Jian back to his room.

In a hazy stupor, Liu Jian felt someone taking care of him. One person supported him, and the other brought a bowl of something and fed it to him.

Liu Jian, forcing his eyes open, saw that the woman beside him was Ren Shanshan. For some reason, he was overcome with an impulse, pulled Ren Shanshan into his arms, cupped her face, and kissed her. To his surprise, Ren Shanshan struggled and even opened her mouth to scream. Liu Jian immediately thrust his tongue into her mouth, stirring it around, searching for her little fragrant tongue. His hands also became restless, reaching inside her clothes, seeking that softness. Then he seemed to hear a gasp, and after that, Liu Jian became drunk and dazed, falling into a heavy sleep.
