It has been a week since Shadow brought Sonic Home. He's slowly putting on a little bit of weight but still struggling with sleep. Shadow is still clueless about Sonic's secret since he's been good at hiding it and has tolerated with the pain for so long.
It was nighttime and Shadow is sitting on his bed preparing for the interrogation whenever Sonic is ready. That is until he heard soft footsteps. He quietly get up and cracks his door open to see Sonic walk downstairs. After waiting a couple minutes he quietly goes downstairs to see what Sonic is doing. When he looked at the sliding doors to the backyard he saw him sitting outside on the stairs of the deck holding a small box. At first Shadow was confused as to what it was and then walked to the door to see what it was.
Sonic looked at the box for a minute before opening it. That's when he realized something was missing and sighed in frustration. "Great...either I dropped it when I was running away or they stole it." "Since when did you start smoking cigarettes?" Sonic froze hearing Shadow's voice knowing it's been caught. He slowly turned around seeing him come outside with an ashtray and lighter in his hand. After he sits down Sonic calms down and answers his question. "Not long after the abuse started. When it was too painful to cut this became my backup coping mechanism." Shadow looked down and noticed he smokes the same cigarettes he does. "If you don't mind me asking. Why do you smoke specifically this brand?" Sonic was silent for a minute before answering. "It reminds me of you...the smell of coffee and cigarettes I enjoyed." This surprised him a bit but he also felt happy.
Sonic grabs a cigarette and then holds the box out to Shadow offering him one. He took one too lighting his cigarette first and then helps Sonic light his. After a few minutes of sitting in silence Sonic decided to talk. "I think I'm ready to do the interrogation whenever you are." Shadow looks over at him. "Only if you feel ready. Nobody is forcing you...but if you do feel like you're ready I can arrange it." Sonic looks at Shadow and nods his head. "I want to be able to tell you everything. There's a lot I still need to tell you." "I'll ask my commander tomorrow about getting that arranged."
After a few minutes they both finish their cigarettes. Shadow moves the ashtray out of the way and slowly moves closer to Sonic carefully wrapping his arm around his waist. Sonic moves closer to him until their thighs touch and lays his head on Shadow's shoulder. "I-is it okay if I s-sleep with you?" He gently rubbed his arm to reassure him. "Of course it's okay. I'll do anything to make you happy. If it's okay with you I would like to do something to...make up for lost time this last year while looking for you." Sonic was blushing when he lifted his head looking at Shadow. He wasn't sure what to expect but trusted him so he nods his head. Shadow smiled and slowly leaned in kissing Sonic on the lips. When he pulled away they were both blushing. Shadow puts his hand on Sonic's cheek and gently pulls him in for a longer kiss. It was a passionate one between the two of them. Sonic wraps his arms around Shadow's neck to deepen the kiss and let a couple soft moans escape.
After a few minutes they broke for air. It was their first kiss and they both couldn't help but smile. Shadow can tell Sonic is getting tired and starts getting up grabbing their things. "Time for us to go back to bed." He slowly nods his head getting up and following Shadow back into the house. He sets everything down making sure the door is locked and then picks Sonic up bridal style carrying him upstairs. Once they get to the bedroom he carefully places him on the bed and goes to make sure the door is shut. When he turns around he notices Sonic is already sleeping which makes him feel good. He climbs into bed next to him and covers them both with a blanket. Shadow was almost fully asleep until he felt a little movement. When he opens his eyes he noticed Sonic moved closer to him and buried his face into Shadow's chest fur. He smiled seeing how cute Sonic looks and carefully wrapped his arm around his waist. He gave him a kiss on the forehead and fell asleep happy that Sonic is officially his boyfriend.
