Chapter 8 - I chose you

"…"

Silke face reddened, he found himself lost for words unable to reply, Seram.

Silke didn't respond, just turned and yanked open the door, the tips of his ears flushed red.

Seram laughed low behind him, pleased to the core, and followed with that same easy confidence each step echoing lightly against the marble hallway.

He slipped his shades on as they exited, his polished shoes striking the floor with that familiar executive rhythm, gloves flexing as he adjusted his sleeves.

The elevator ride down was mostly quiet, save for the soft hum of motion and Silke's occasional side-eye.

"I can feel you smirking." Silke muttered.

"I'm not smirking " Seram replied, clearly smirking.

"Just admiring the view."

"Of the elevator wall?"

"Of you, Silk."

Silke rolled his eyes and faced forward again, fighting off the way his lips wanted to curl.

"Flatter me less. It's distracting."

"Exactly my intention."

The doors opened to the garage, and Seram grinned, the cars in here best of the best and all in tip-top conditions.

"My cars are over at that section."

Silke said as they walked towards the direction he pointed at, Seram's eyes widened when he saw the cars.

Silke's bank account must be packed!

He had a Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+, McLaren P1 GTR, Rolls-Royce Phantom Series II, Ferrari Monza SP2, Mercedes AMG GT G3S.

"Just how much do you make Silk. I feel poor."

Silke grabbed the keys for the Mercedes and Seram's eyes brightened.

"Can I drive?" He asked, he had a Maybach, back in his house, safe to say he was a Mercedes fan.

"Mhm..I don't see why not." Silke handed him the keys, while Seram opened the door.

"Watch your head." He said placing his hands so he wouldn't get hit, Silke only smiled and got in.

"Kyuha Enterprise is my legacy, I built it to show my family that I could be the best but..I guess they still like my older siblings better, maybe because they have kids.."

Seram clenched his teeth slightly, the thought of it, making him annoyed.

"…"

"So have kids? You've dated countless women…"

Seram scoffed as he drove out, dating was one thing, having kids was another thing.

"I'm not sure I've loved someone enough to think about having children with them."

".."

"Besides I'm a one partner person? I have you, so currently I'm not interested in women right now.."

Seram sighed, he wasn't going to have kids just to find favor in his parents eyes, he would be no better than his parents.

"…"

"But we're only partners, we're not dating…"

".."

"Are you saying…I get to sleep with you just because I'm an Esper?"

Seram's voice was slightly cold, almost sword-like.

Seram shot him a quick glance, his smile curving slow and dangerous.

"Is that what you think, Silk?" he said, voice low.

Silke didn't answer right away, just crossed his legs and looked out the window, the city blurring past.

Seram reached over, briefly squeezing Silke's knee before returning his hand to the wheel.

"You're wrong…" Seram said simply. "I want you right now. Esper or not."

Silke's throat bobbed as he swallowed, his heart kicking against his ribs.

"And you didn't hear me wrong either"

Seram added, casually changing lanes. "One partner. One Silk."

Silke sucked in a breath, feeling a rush of heat climb up his neck.

He turned to look at Seram properly, studying the relaxed, almost careless way he drove, one hand on the wheel, the other resting lightly on the gear shift.

He didn't look nervous. He didn't look like he was joking either.

"…You're serious?" Silke said finally, voice a little hoarse.

Seram chuckled low, "Dead serious."

The car slowed as they approached a red light.

Seram turned fully to face him now, sunglasses sliding low on the bridge of his nose, revealing those sharp, dangerous eyes beneath.

"And if I didn't think you were special, Silk" Seram said, voice dipping to a near growl, "I wouldn't have touched you at all."

The light turned green, and Seram faced forward again, the Mercedes gliding smoothly into motion like nothing earth-shaking had just been said.

Silke sat there, stunned silent, his fingers curling slightly into the seat.

God, he thought, feeling his pulse race, what the hell am I getting myself into?

"Don't get my hopes up Seram, I'm 36 years old…I've been with many Espers, you say a lot of things..you know. I don't want to get my hopes up, I'm too old to start crying again."

Seram's hands flexed slightly on the steering wheel, his jaw tightening as he absorbed Silke's words.

For a moment, the only sounds in the car were the low hum of the engine and the muted rhythm of the city around them.

When Seram finally spoke, his voice was quiet but there was a steel edge underneath it.

"Then I'll just have to prove it to you. If I hurt you silk..please kill me"

Silke glanced at him, a flash of something vulnerable crossing his face, but he masked it quickly, turning his gaze back out the window.

Seram continued, his tone low, certain.

"I'm not here to play with you, Silke. I'm not interested in leaving you behind or making you cry. Of course when we're in bed, only there do I want to make you cry."

"…"

He turned the car sharply into the private parking garage of Kyuha Enterprise, tires whispering against the smooth concrete.

"I chose you" Seram said, parking smoothly into his reserved spot, "not because of your rank, not because you're a guide, not because it was convenient for me "

He unbuckled his seatbelt and turned fully toward Silke, voice firm.

"But because you're you, I realized yesterday… you're not a god. You're human — you bleed and cry just like the rest of us. You've met so many people who took advantage of you, who made you feel like you were less than you are. You deserve someone who truly appreciates you. I want to be that someone — the one you can rest your head on when you're tired, the one you run to when you're sad, the one you can confide in, share all your problems with. I'll show you the right kind of love, even if it's something I've never shown anyone before."

Silke's fingers twitched in his lap. His mouth opened, then closed, unsure what to even say to that.
