Chapter 2 - The Dragon Trade

Kenji's Residence, Three Years Ago — Earth One

In the Eldradora Kingdom, trees swayed gently in the warm afternoon breeze, their leaves rustling softly as they danced left and right in the forest. Everything seemed peaceful, save for the notable absence of most magic knights who had traveled to the far boundary between the four kingdoms for a council regarding rumors of a clan of man-eating demons lurking in the shadows.

Unbeknownst to the noble people of the Glacien Hold Kingdom, the other realms—

Pyraxien Empire — the Kingdom of Flame, Aetherwind Dominion — the Kingdom of Wind, Tarracorinth — the Kingdom of Earth. had conspired in secret. They planned to seize the opportunity and overthrow the Glacien Hold, plunder its resources, and claim its women—not for sexual exploit, but to merge bloodlines and bear a new generation of magic-wielders.

The peaceful afternoon shattered.

"Boom... Boom... BOOM!"

A series of thunderous blasts roared across the heavens. Birds fled in panic as the ground quaked beneath the weight of magic. Hundreds of elite magic knights erupted from the earth in synchronized waves, advancing from all three kingdoms. Their purpose was singular: "domination".

Like high-temperature gas, they expanded swiftly, striking down all who opposed them and forcefully taking women to blend bloodlines and forge a superior breed of magic wielder.

Kenji's Residence — Same Day, Same Hour

Kaen Yukoshiro, head captain of security at the Kenji household, stood alone as the last line of defense. Towering like an unsheathed blade, his right hand rested on his still-slumbering sword in its Nemuriken state. His unique ability, Nettsugan, allowed his eyes to perceive heat signatures—he focused on five approaching threats hidden behind the wall.

Without warning, five magic knights leapt above the wall, their abilities diverse and deadly.

Yukoshiro reacted instantly. His voice, calm and cold, uttered a sacred chant:

Through moonlit frost and silent skies, I call thee forth—Nyxice, Blade of the Frozen Foxfire!

A fox materialized before him, condensing into a sword. His attire turned to frost, and his temperature dropped drastically, causing the air around him to plummet as well.

"Five versus one."

Yukoshiro smirked, his expression marked by a dissatisfied grin. He knew he stood little chance, especially in close combat. So, he did something rather shocking.

He merged with his sprite, transforming into the frost fox himself—six ice-formed tails billowing behind him. In this form he was called a Kamikon.

Without hesitation, his opponents dashed toward him.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

Their blades clashed against the icy tails. This merged state was called the Kamikon—the Divine Fusion.

Clash after clash, even with six mighty tails, the beast was driven into a corner. Two earth-magic knights summoned golems equal in size to the Kamikon, and before long, Yukoshiro was pinned to the ground, held tightly beneath the weight of stone.

Unluckily for him, the remaining three opponents were fire magic wilders, natural nemesis of ice.

The fire knights swept their feet in a bioconcave arc, their upper bodies leaning forward as they focused their aura. In unison, they unleashed searing waves of Life Fire upon Yukoshiro. Again and again they struck, and slowly, his icy form began to crack, melt, and dissolve—until nothing remained but mist and ions.

With their foe vanquished, the five magic knights turned toward the building.

Thanks to Yukoshiro's sacrifice, Vera—mother of Valor—had gained precious time to complete a ritual. She stood before the stairway, sword unsheathed and blade turned inward to her chest. She closed her eyes and chanted in pain:

"By the power of the ancient moon, I call upon the spirits of the land. Grant me the form of the dragon, that I may fly with the flock and breathe ice with the wind. Let the primal energy that courses through my soul awaken—for the protection of our bloodline!"

A brilliant light enveloped her blade as her blade and it's Zepharion cried out in rage. Then, her body began to shift violently. The building trembled. Half of it sank into the earth as blinding light poured outward.

When the light faded, a colossal dragon stood where Vera once was. Her scales shimmered a pale, icy blue. Her eyes gleamed gold with fury. The air around her dropped to a temperature colder than Neptune's core.

She moved with an attitude of vengeance, seeking justice like the law itself.

2Every opponent in her path froze in an instant.

When all was silent, she returned to Valor. Lowering her head, she exhaled a gentle, freezing breath into his nostrils and whispered:

"I will always be with you—from now, henceforth."

And with that, she twisted her massive form and soared into the heavens.

From that day, Valor gained the insight of a dragon.

Fast-forward to the present... on Earth Two, at the Kenji Residence.

The morning sun poured through the window of Kiato's room. He stirred beneath his sheets, groggy, until he noticed something heavy resting on his stomach.

He blinked, then slowly turned his head.

"Whoa!"

He leapt from the bed.

Hovering above him was a small dragon—awake at last.

She flapped her wings, regaining balance mid-air, and snapped, "What's your problem?!"

Kiato blinked, startled. "What's... your name?"

The dragon puffed herself up proudly. "I'm Mrs. Merlin, a Halflight carved from your aura."

Kiato exhaled and muttered, "So... a half-spirit, half-flesh dragon?"

Merlin nodded. "That's right. And I'll be working with you until the end. Now get dressed—we're headed for training. We need to pass the Gallus Blade Academy tryouts. You're a total beginner. You know science, not swordplay."

As Kiato made his way to the bathroom, he suddenly paused, realization dawning.

He turned toward Merlin, who was strictly admiring herself in the mirror.

"Wait… how did you know I'm a scientist? And that I don't know much about fighting?

Merlin flashed an innocent smile and floated toward him—then smacked him on the head.

"I told you—I was carved from your aura and flesh!"

"Ow! Alright, alright!" Kiato groaned, clutching his head. "If that's true, don't get too obsessed with your looks. You got them from me, after all."

Merlin narrowed her eyes. The tension spiked.

Sensing danger, Kiato dashed into the bathroom and slammed the door shut behind him.

From outside, Merlin fumed and pounded on the door with tiny fists.

"Curse you!!!"
