Description: So tired, so thirsty, just want a drink — Machamp.
A small dark cloud began forming above this Machamp's head.
The renovation company had sent three Machamp in total.
Carver turned his gaze toward the other two.
Compared to the exhausted one, the other two had Joy values of 10 and 15 respectively—they seemed to be in a good mood.
Carver thought for a moment, then pulled out a berry and walked over to the Machamp with 10 Joy, smiling as he said:
"Thanks for your hard work! No need to rush. If you're tired, take a break. Here's a berry to quench your thirst."
Machamp paused mid-motion. It looked at Carver and the berry in his hand, then gave a rough but genuine smile.
This boss is pretty decent!
Using one of its four muscular arms, Machamp accepted the berry, took a few bites, and swallowed it.
Its Joy visibly increased—from 10 to 15.
[Machamp's mood improved. Joy +5. Received gift: Common Stone.]
[Common Stone: Has no real value. Some people might find it precious, but it's just an ordinary rock.]
Carver: "..."
Feeling the unexpected stone suddenly appear in his pocket, Carver was a bit surprised.
So his cheat ability didn't just give moves—it could also give items?
An unexpected but welcome discovery.
Carver walked over to the other Machamp, the one with 15 Joy, and did the same.
That Machamp's Joy also increased by 5, and it gifted him a Oran Berry.
Carver stood there quietly, observing them at work.
Then he went back inside, grabbed another berry and a glass of water, and returned outside.
When he turned his eyes to the exhausted Machamp, he was startled to see that her Joy had dropped even further—from -10 to -20.
He froze for a second, then understood.
She had seen him give berries to the others but not her, and then leave.
So her mood plummeted—and her Friendship dropped from 0 to -10.
Carver: "…"
Pretending he hadn't noticed, he walked over and offered the water and berry with a smile:
"Tired? Take a break. Here's some water and a berry to freshen up."
Machamp paused in surprise.
Her emotions quickly shifted—from disbelief at receiving water, to guilt for misunderstanding the human…
By the time Carver looked again, her Friendship had shot up from -10 to 10.
After drinking the water and eating the berry, Machamp's mood improved drastically.
[Status: Healthy]
[Mood: Satisfied]
[Joy: 30]
[Friendship: 10]
[Description: Found a good person! — Machamp.]
Carver smiled at her.
At that moment, another message popped up:
[Machamp's mood improved. Joy +50. Received gift: Big Root.]
[Big Root: A cherished item kept by Machamp. When held by a Pokémon, it increases the HP recovered from draining moves.]
Carver: "?"
A Big Root from a female Machamp? Wait, how does that even work?!
Satisfied and refreshed, Machamp went back to work.
She now thought this boss was pretty great and decided to give it her all.
As a result, she worked even harder.
Carver returned to Bewear's side.
Just as he suspected—the greater the Joy increase, the better the reward.
The Big Root was a great held item, especially for Pokémon like Zubat or Gloom.
Even if he couldn't use it himself, he could sell it to Trainers. On the market, a single Big Root could go for 4,000 Pokécoins.
The Machamp team worked incredibly fast.
By evening, the entire breeding house and inn had been completely renovated.
"Thanks for your hard work!"
Under the setting sun, Carver and Bewear waved goodbye to the Machamp.
They smiled, wiped the sweat from their brows, and rode off in their truck.
Carver then turned his gaze back to the breeding house.
The once shaky wooden door had been replaced with a brand new red one, adorned with an "Open for Business" sign.
To the left of the door stood a mailbox for letters.
To the right, a blackboard listed the breeding house's current services.
[Breeding House Services]
1. Pokémon Daycare
2. Teachable Moves: Baby-Doll Eyes, Tackle
3. Rare Item Trading: Common Stone, Big Root
4. Lodging and Meals
Pushing the door open revealed a new, spotless main hall.
An L-shaped counter faced the entrance, with sofas for waiting guests in front. A display cabinet separated the dining area from the main hall.
Down a small corridor was the kitchen, fully equipped with brand new appliances:
Fridge, oven, microwave...
Behind the counter was a small door leading to the Pokémon living yard.
The backyard was now surrounded by a sturdy wooden fence, keeping smaller Pokémon from escaping and wild Pokémon from entering.
Carver divided it into three zones: Grassland, Forest, and Lake.
Each section was modest in size, but together they could comfortably house 100 Pokémon.
Of course, taking care of that many Pokémon on his own would be impossible.
The second floor was split into two areas:
One for Carver and Bewear to live, and the other for guest rooms.
The inn now had six guest rooms, each about 20 square meters, fully furnished with beds, desks, and chairs.
Carver placed brand-new mattresses and soft blankets in each room—perfect for weary Trainers to rest.
He also had the garden cleaned and cleared of weeds by the Machamp team, leaving a few plots for planting vegetables.
He left the berry trees intact—berries in this world were amazing: pick them today, and they'd regrow in 2–3 days.
With those trees, the breeding house wouldn't have to worry about berries for a while.
Whether eaten directly, made into juice, or turned into Pokéblocks—they were all valuable.
After all the renovations and purchases, Carver had spent 960,000 Pokécoins, leaving him with just over 50,000.
He couldn't spend the rest carelessly—it would have to support daily life and emergencies.
Walking through the newly renovated breeding house, both Carver and Bewear were thrilled.
But once the excitement passed, Carver calmed down.
Because he knew—even now, the breeding house wasn't complete.
It was still missing one vital thing:
Pokémon.
Thinking of this, Carver turned to Bewear.
"Bewear, starting tomorrow—we officially open for business!"
With income, he could raise more Pokémon and bring life back to the breeding house.
"Guu~!"
