Lillian was slurping her noodles in peace when she heard the sounds of servants rushing towards her room. Although she wished they would stay locked for longer so that she could finish her meal quietly, she remained calm on the outside.
Next, she heard the heavy steps nearing her.
Mary Wu's eyes glared at her, wishing to tear her apart. Beside her was Alex and Eva standing in their dishevelled state. Eva's face had gone pale due to fright, and her body trembled. Alex held her in his arm comfortingly; his eyes glowered at Lillian in rage.
Thinking about what both of them had to go through made him want to strangle Lillian to death.
"Lillian, I understand you are acting out of jealousy, but how can you viciously plot against your siblings?" Mary threw out her accusation.
There wasn't a shift of emotions on Lillian's face. Using her chopsticks, she picked up the fried egg and took out a bite. Being ignored only worsened Mary's mood, making her feel humiliated, and as a result, her hand pushed the bowl of noodles on the table.
The porcelain crashed against the floor, creating a loud and sharp noise. The red broth spilled around the surroundings.
Lillian subtly furrowed her brows. In her previous life, she suffered through prolonged periods of starvation. Therefore, wasting of food felt awfully disrespectful to her, especially when it was delicious.
"And didn't I forbid you from eating all these junk!? An ill-mannered brat like you never learns, right? No wonder they say blood actually matters! You are going around messing this family up and hurting your siblings!
You are disrespectful to your parents over and over again. You dare to steal and cheat on exams. After some time, you will dare to take the lives of everyone around you. We are wrong to let a white-wolf like you stay in our family! You will only bring disaster upon us!" Mary Wu raised her voice.
In her previous life, she met her doom by following Chen Family whereas the entire family thrived after taking advantage of her.
Who actually brought disaster?
Lillian raised her head and stared at Mary in boredom.
"Mom, you know how this is an upper class family in an upper class area yet you dare to create such a fuss in the middle of the night. What will servants think? I thought your upbringing and bloodline will make you self-aware." Lillian's voice was calm.
Initially, she thought about staying in this family longer. In that way, she would be able to bring more harm to them from inside, but now, she couldn't endure it any longer. No longer did she care about tearing all the faces with them.
For the sake of her sanity, she needed to get out of this den of monsters.
Mary's rage rose at Lillian's words. Although Lillian was a child with temper, never did she humiliate her in this manner. Her dark, glassy eyes reflected how she looked at them like a pathetic joke.
How dare she!
A little black mouse flashed by in the corner of her eyes. She then watched the servants running around, trying to catch it.
This gave Lillian an idea on what Alex and Eva was up to. They wished to treat her a lesson by locking her up with the mice. However, they did not think they would be counteracted on and fall victim to their own prank.
Eva coughed from the side.
"Lily, Mom is saying this for your own good. All these years, she treated her as your flesh and blood. Don't be rude to her because you feel displeased by me."
"What right does this vicious bitch have to feel displeased by you? Mom, just kick her out of the family. Since she can't appreciate it, we need to show her how cruel the outside world is," Alex remarked.
Every time those words reached her years in her previous life, Lillian would get on her knees, cry for forgiveness and promise to do better.
Once again, she wondered if Chen Family had done any witchcraft on her.
"Kneel down," ordered Mary. "You will be punished to kneel down the entire night for harming your siblings. Next time, it wouldn't be so easy to get away with it."
Kneeling down?
What feudal system of punishment was that?
Lillian's lips curled up. She stood up, clapping her hands. All the servants paused in their actions, watching the commotion.
"What a grand plan crafted out by the Chen Family. I understood finally that I am the outsider," commented Lillian.
"What are you going crazy for again? Didn't you hear how Mom asked you to kneel down?" Alex scowled.
Lillian took a step closer to Alex- her eyes gleaming in amusement. "You and your dear sister locked me in my room earlier. Already, I fainted due to starvation, and then, tonight too you starved me. After that, you two sneak into my room with the mice in the middle of the night."
She let the words hang in the air before continuing, her tone cool and razor-sharp. "But when your genius plan backfires, when you end up locking yourselves in that room instead, suddenly I'm the villain? Suddenly I'm the one who needs to 'kneel down and reflect'?"
After that, she tilted her head and smirked.
"The logic of your Chen Family is incredible. Mrs. Chen, even if you're biased and want to kill me off, you shouldn't be so obvious. There are so many eyes watching. It wouldn't look well upon your family. After all, how would it seem if you actual intent to keep me here wasn't because you cared for me, but you slowly wished to torture me to death."
Mary Wu's eyes widened in disbelief. She pointed her finger towards Lillian, remarking, "You, unfilial child, after everything I have done for you! A white-eyed wolf like you will never have a good ending."
A good ending?
Lillian had enough taste of that.
A chuckle left her mouth. "It doesn't feel good to be falsely accused, right?"
All the commotions woke up rest of the Chen Family, and they came down.
Displeasure laced Henry's voice. "Why is it you again, Lillian? I thought you will learn your lesson after being punished for cheating, but I was being lenient."
Lillian felt suffocated. The Chen Family in her eyes resembled a group of family that banded against her and determined to eat her up not until her bones were left.
"Mr. Chen, doesn't your conscience hurt? It was your good son and daughter who sneaked into my room to hurt me. Is this the so-called prestigious blood of Chen Family? If so, then I really can't compare." Lillian's voice was loud and clear.
"Lillian, enough. Don't be so petty and keep on extending this matter. Apologize and everything will be over. And, be more forgiving towards your siblings. They are young and immature," Jason chided- his tone holding a sense of superiority.
This was incredulous. Lillian was stupefied.
A yawn left her mouth.
"Since you Chen Family always go on about generosity, I will share the bed with your dear Eva. I am sure someone as kind as her wouldn't mind." Lillian arched her brow.
Alex's hand tightened into a fist. "You can't! What if you hurt her in the middle of the night?"
Lillian's eyes narrowed on Eva. "What do you think?"
There was faint discomfort on Eva's face before she clenched onto her chest, getting down on her knees. Her face contorted.
"It hurts," she groaned.
The Chen Family gathered around her.
Lillian was too sleepy to entertain them. "Then, I will take it as a yes and take over her bed."
