Chapter 7 - Chapter Seven: Lucien is Fun

(Lucien's POV)

The throaty roar of the Lamborghini was my lullaby these days.

The city lights blurred into streaks of vibrant color as I weaved through traffic, the wind whipping through my dark hair. It had been over a week since the prophecy fiasco, the night they practically crowned Caspian as the vampire messiah and me, the harbinger of doom. Good riddance, I say. Let them choke on their expectations. Me? I was having far too much fun.

The penthouse suite I'd "borrowed" (the previous owner wouldn't be needing it anymore, not with the inconvenient lack of blood in his veins) shimmered with an expensive emptiness that suited me perfectly. Tonight, however, it was about to get a whole lot less empty.

Two girls, both wide-eyed and giggling, were waiting for me inside. I met them at a club downtown. Blondie was a bartender, all sass and fake eyelashes. Brunette was a student, shy and clutching her purse like it was a lifeline. Perfect.

"Lucien!" Blondie squealed, throwing her arms around my neck. "We were starting to think you stood us up!"

"Darling," I purred, peeling her off me. "A god is never late. Everyone else is simply early." I winked, adding to the Brunette, "Relax, I don't bite...hard."

She giggled nervously, finally loosening her grip on her purse. Good.

I led them to the lavishly stocked bar. "What's your pleasure, ladies?" I asked, grabbing a bottle of aged scotch for myself.

"Vodka cranberry," Blondie chirped. Brunette mumbled something about a glass of wine.

I mixed their drinks with practiced ease, a small part of me enjoying the performance. They were captivated, drinking in my every move. It was a heady feeling, this power. And being me was always good, very good.

"So, Lucien," Blondie said, leaning closer. "What exactly do you do?"

I swirled the scotch in my glass, a slow smile spreading across my face. "I indulge. It's a full-time job." I paused, letting the implications hang in the air. "And tonight, I intend to indulge in you both."

The night progressed in a haze of laughter, suggestive dancing, and increasingly bold touches. Eventually, I led them to the bedroom, a sprawling space with a king-sized bed draped in silk sheets.

"Now," I said, my voice low and velvet smooth, "let's get down to the real fun."

Blondie, ever the adventurous one, understood immediately. Brunette still looked a little hesitant, but the curiosity in her eyes was unmistakable.

I don't force anyone. I never have. But the allure, the promise of something forbidden, was always enough.

Later, as the first rays of dawn crept through the window, I lay back against the pillows, sated. Blondie and Brunette were asleep beside me, their breathing soft and even. The faint metallic tang of blood lingered in the air, a sweet, intoxicating aroma.

I hadn't taken much. Just enough to satisfy the hunger, to sharpen my senses, to feel truly alive. They wouldn't even remember anything more than a good night's sleep. It was a win-win.

Rising, I walked over to the window and gazed out at the sprawling city below. Tiny humans scurried about, oblivious to the world of shadows that existed just beyond their perception. They were ants, scurrying around while I simply enjoyed the moment, the scenery, the vibe.

Father probably wouldn't even notice I was gone. He is definitely too preoccupied with maintaining appearances, with ensuring the coven adhered to its ancient laws. Let him have his stuffy traditions and endless meetings. I preferred the freedom, the anonymity, the sheer, unadulterated pleasure of the human world.

And Caspian? A flicker of something akin to... what? Annoyance? Disappointment? Maybe even sadness? stirred within me. He'd be up now, no doubt, diligently practicing his swordsmanship, studying ancient texts, being the perfect heir. Even the thought of his perfection was annoyingly endearing so I quickly shut it down.

He wouldn't care.

He was probably too busy with Kael hovering around him like a lovesick puppy. Kael, his best friend, his confidante, his ever-present shadow. The thought of them together, even just talking, grated on my nerves. Kael had always been jealous of the bond Caspian and I shared, a bond that was now fractured, perhaps beyond repair.

Good, I told myself, pushing the thought away. Let Caspian and Kael have each other. I had the entire human world to play with, endless possibilities stretching out before me like a banquet. I have the city on my palm, literally.

I grinned, a flash of teeth gleaming in the morning light. "Feels good to be me." I muttered. "It really, really does."

I went to the bathroom, to clean myself and take a shower so I could go for a walk.

After showering, I decided to wear a black leather jacket, black pants and a pair of black boots. That's just how I always look, a man in black— to be more precise, a sexy, tall, handsome, mysterious… just an insanely good-looking man in expensive black.

As I walked through the main streets, I saw a girl, she was wearing a red dress and she was all alone. She was beautiful, and I decided, I wanted her. I approached her slowly.

"Hello darling, are you lost?"

She turned, surprised to notice someone just appeared behind her.

"Hey, uhm yeah I can't seem to find my friends."

"Well, that's not good."

I paused for a few seconds, "How about I help you find them?"

"Oh, really? You would? That's actually very kind."

"It's my pleasure darling, what are friends for?"

She smiled widely then we started walking together.

I kept talking to her and making her laugh until we arrived in my penthouse, all the while she thought I was actually helping her find her friends.

"Wait, why are we here?"

"I found them, they're here."

"What? Where?"

I smirked, "They're waiting for you inside."

I dragged her inside and locked the doors.

"What are you doing? I want to go home."

She started crying, "Please, I want to go home."

I stared directly into her eyes, "Sleep"

She immediately dozed off. I carried her to the bedroom like a bride.

"I found them, they're here." I whispered, just for fun I guess. It just baffles how gullible humans are. Naive cute little beings.
