Chapter 5 - Goblin King

The moment the giant goblin stepped into the light, the air itself seemed to tremble.

Eight feet of corded muscle, its green hide was crisscrossed with scars and jagged tribal tattoos. Its tusks—yellowed and cracked—jutted from a mouth filled with jagged, broken teeth. In its massive hand, it clutched a maul made from the wreckage of the ship's support beam, the metal end dented and crusted with old blood.

But the worst part was its eyes.

Glowing red, like dying embers.

The remaining goblins screeched, scrambling back in reverence—or fear.

Then the giant spoke, its voice a guttural rumble that vibrated in Mark's bones:

**"Meat...for the Maw."**

And it *moved*.

One second it was standing at the corridor's mouth. The next—

***CRUNCH.***

A colonist's skull exploded like an overripe melon. The giant goblin had *blinked* across the room, its maul swinging in a brutal arc. Before the body even hit the ground, it was already spinning—

***THUD.***

Another colonist's chest caved in, ribs shattering inward.

***CRACK.***

A woman's neck snapped like a twirl as the goblin backhanded her mid-sprint.

Five dead in three seconds.

Blood misted the air.

Mark barely had time to register the horror before the creature's burning eyes locked onto him.

**"You."**

It lunged.

Mark barely dodged, rolling as the maul cratered the floor where he'd stood. The shockwave sent him skidding, his teeth rattling. Across the room, Alex's pupils dilated—his *Double Personality Skill* flaring back to life.

**"Ohhh, this one's *fun*,"** Alex snarled, his voice layered with something inhuman.

The goblin king turned, its maul rising—

Alex was already gone.

He moved like a shadow, darting behind the giant and driving his knife into its hamstring. The blade sank deep, black blood spurting. The goblin roared, swinging blindly, but Alex twisted away, laughing like a madman.

Mark didn't waste the opening.

He lunged, his body humming with the strange energy from the creature meat. His knife slashed upward—

**"BLOOD SLASH!"**

A crimson arc of crystallized blood ripped from his blade, slicing clean through the goblin's throat.

For a heartbeat, nothing happened.

Then—

A wet *gurgle*.

Black blood poured from the giant's neck in a torrent. It staggered, one massive hand clutching the wound as if to hold itself together. Its glowing eyes dimmed, flickering like a dying flame.

Alex didn't give it time to recover.

With a feral grin, he *leapt* onto the goblin's back, driving his knife into the base of its skull. The creature's roar turned into a wet choke. Its knees buckled.

And with a final, shuddering gasp—

The giant goblin collapsed.

Dead.

Silence.

The remaining goblins stared, their beady eyes wide with terror. Then, as one, they turned and *ran*, scrambling over each other in their desperation to escape.

Mark stood panting, his hands slick with blood. Alex dropped from the corpse, his breathing ragged, his *Double Personality* fading.

The blue screens flashed before Mark's eyes, but he barely registered them. Around him, the surviving colonists—those still alive, still *human*—stared at the fallen giant in stunned silence.

All of a sudden Alex walked over to the goblin body, knelt and began eating.
