Chapter 6 - CHAPTER 5: EMOTIONAL WARFARE AND GROWING PAINS

The morning sun bathed Viltrum Academy in golden light, and as Anissa entered her classroom, she felt a renewed sense of purpose. The events of the previous day lingered in her mind, particularly Flora's challenge and the cunning tactics employed by the mean girls. Today, she was determined to take control and create an engaging learning environment.

Anissa glanced at the empty seats, her heart racing with anticipation. As the students began to file in, she noticed the shy girl she had spoken to previously. With bright eyes and an infectious smile, Lily's presence filled Anissa with warmth… a little too much warmth. Anissa's cock throbbed as if greeting Lily in a nodding gesture.

"Good morning, everyone!" Anissa greeted mundanely, her voice echoing through the room. "Today, we're going to dive deeper into infantry tactics using a 3d model battlefield I've downloaded from one of the planets conquered by Nolan, one of our greatest warriors."

'I looked through this course before the class started, and I have to say, the research materials garnered from other planets makes this really interesting. This, this could really change how we do things. Maybe our dwindling numbers can finally come to a stop. I wonder what the students will show me today?' Anissa thought as she dropped her holographic tablet on her desk.

Excitement rippled through the class as the students settled in, intrigued by the prospect of exploring a tactical scenario in a Simulated planet. Anissa projected the 3d model onto the screen and onto the student's desk as well. The vibrant colours and detailed terrain came to life before their eyes. It was being they were there themselves.

"I'll divide you into two groups: the opposing side and the resisting side," Anissa explained, pointing to the battlefield that showed rugged mountains and sprawling valleys. "Each group will develop tactics based on their objectives. This exercise will not only test your strategic thinking but also your ability to work as a team."

"The academy is responsible for awarding points and other reward items, so the winners will report to the principal for their appropriate reward." Anissa added.

As she assigned the students to their respective groups, Anissa could see the competitive spirit igniting within them. The mean girls, Selena, Katya, and Mia, exchanged glances, clearly plotting their next move. Flora stood confidently with her group, a sharp contrast to the other girls' smug expressions.

'This concept of using the opponent's emotions... I only saw use of this in combat to rile up the opponent... but to use it in advanced warfare? This will be interesting to see. I can see why most Viltrumites wouldn't want to teach this course, it's almost like...' Aniisa was lost in thought for a second before she gathered her composure as a General and faced her students.

"Before we begin," Anissa added, her voice steady, "I want you to think about how you can use the emotions of your opponents against them. In our last class, I mentioned using emotion to spur combat. Anger should be taken advantage of, not used. In most cases than none, anger only causes the person to lose focus on the subject and quick thinking. In a life or death situation, your world could go dark in a matter of seconds. Use that knowledge to your advantage today. Learn to manipulate your opponent's feelings to gain the upper hand."

The students nodded, some looking intrigued while others seemed sceptical. With that, Anissa set them to work, watching as they strategised and discussed their plans.

'This is getting interesting, really interesting. The fact that in this simulation, we get to command some of the lesser races we have conquered into battle. I hope the Grand Regent really does implement this and not just take it as some random experiment.' Anissa smiled at the simulation before her. They already employed other races to work for the Viltrum Empire in different sectors, but in planetary liberation? That was a whole different case.

Once the groups were ready, Anissa activated the simulation. The 3D model battlefield flickered to life, and the students found themselves immersed in a virtual environment where their strategies would unfold.

"Alright, let the match begin!" Anissa announced, her voice ringing with excitement.

The groups quickly deployed their tactics, with Flora leading her team on the resisting side. "Stay low and use the terrain to our advantage!" she called out, her tone firm. The students responded, using the rocky outcrops and hills as cover while planning their attack.

On the opposing side, Selena sneered as she gathered her team. "They think they can hide? Let's show them what real strategy looks like! Move in and flush them out!"

As the match progressed, Anissa watched intently, observing how each group utilised their strategies. Flora's team focused on drawing their opponents into traps, using feints to lure them out of cover while maintaining a defensive posture. They worked together seamlessly, countering Selena's aggressive tactics.

Selena, frustrated by their evasion, ordered her team to charge forward. "Use your anger! Push them back! Don't let them regroup!" she shouted, channelling her own intensity into her team's actions.

'Is that supposed to be a war cry? Tch. Laughable.' Anissa smiled and hid a chuckle with her hand, but that gesture was not intended to be hidden from Selena, who was clearly in her feelings now.

Anissa noted how the emotions were spilling over into their strategies. The students were becoming more animated, and the battlefield became a canvas for their psychological warfare.

"Remember what I said about using emotions against your opponent!" Anissa called out, trying to keep their focus. "Use their frustration to your advantage. Keep your cool!"

But the competitive spirit fueled the intensity of the match. Flora's team executed a brilliant counterattack, utilising the element of surprise to ambush Selena's group. Anissa felt a surge of pride as she watched the students adapt and evolve in real time.

It was almost scary the way Flora's team slowly but steadily covered the map. Selena remained calm, knowing that she had made a grave mistake in the beginning, and began talking to her generals.

As the match drew closer to its climax, it became clear that the resisting side was gaining the upper hand. Flora's strategic thinking and ability to maintain composure under pressure were paying off.

"Now! Push forward!" Flora commanded, her confidence infectious. Her team surged ahead, driving back the opposing group with a flurry of calculated manoeuvres.

Anissa's heart raced as she observed the final moments of the match. The opposing side, overwhelmed and unable to regroup, retreated, effectively conceding the virtual battlefield to Flora's team.

As Flora pushed forward, she sent ten battalions to surround Selena's base, leaving Selena with the option of surrender. Since this was an immersive augmented reality, both teams had extensive command and control of the characters placed in the world as if they were gods playing with the fates of their creations.

As there was no flag of surrender from Selena's army, as expected of a Viltrumite, Flora's battalions went in for the attack, only to find the base filled with sleeping gas that caused the first two battalions to fall to some traps laid by Selena. The remaining eight battalions went in with precaution and met no one in the base but a large escape hole tunnelled out by Selena's remaining elites and army.

Flora was about to give chase and claim Selena's headquarters, but found that Selena was quite the petty commander, leaving her with an explosive surprise that took out all eight of her battalions, safe for the remains of the first two retreating back to Flora's base and the army at Flora's. Selena's silent discussion with her generals turned out to be a tactical retreat plan, but a retreat plan that would take a few of Flora's armies.

Flora ticked her tongue in annoyance. She knew she should have expected such a violent response from Selena. She wasn't one to bend over and take it nicely without so much as a fight. She was so comfortable throughout the battle that she had forgotten who her opponent was virtually and in the real world. A mistake she would not make again.

Selena looked at the battlefield with narrowed eyes, watching smoke and blood mist stain what used to be her headquarters as she watched her ships pick up her virtual self, her remaining fighting elites and what was left of her army. Her avatar also mirrored her expression, looking at the battlefield with narrowed eyes as if saying, 'You better watch your back. '

"Match over!" Anissa declared, a smile breaking across her face. "Well done! You all displayed impressive teamwork and strategy. Remember, learning to use emotions is a key part of being a successful leader."

'Selena performed poorly, but her actions at the end… I liked that. At least if you are going down, make sure you take something from the enemy.' Anissa thought as she switched off the augmented reality system.

As the students began to celebrate their victory, Anissa felt a sense of accomplishment wash over her. She had managed to guide them through a challenging exercise that tested not only their tactical skills but their emotional intelligence as well.

As the students filed out of the classroom, chatter filled the air. Anissa felt a mix of satisfaction and fatigue wash over her. The week had been intense, filled with challenges that tested her abilities as a mentor.

With one last look at the empty classroom, Anissa felt a flicker of hope. Tomorrow would bring new opportunities, and she was ready to embrace whatever challenges awaited her.

As she gathered her materials, she couldn't help but think about the weekend ahead. It was finally Friday, and the thought of a break from her students filled her with relief. "Thank the stars for the weekend," Anissa murmured to herself, a small smile breaking through her weariness.

With that thought in mind, Anissa left the classroom, ready to step into the weekend and all the freedom from teaching brats. Maybe she can finally deal with her pent-up problem.

How was the class activities today?

Imagine if the Viltrumites actually used the races they conquered as their armies to invade... I mean liberate other planets, wouldn't things be cleaner?
