Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 - Dengerous one

The name of the curse spell whispered in Henry's mouth, and a dark mist rushed at the man holding a mana blaster. The dark mist gave the man a fright, and he panicked, trying to defend himself from the dark substance. But the mist quickly enveloped him like smoke, then rushed and seeped into the man's eyes.

"Huh!"

"What did you do?"

The question rose among the other soldiers in suits, and they instantly shifted the direction of their mana blasters, pointing them at Henry.

"I... I can't see. My eyes—they're blind!"

Came the answer to their question from the man. Hands held out in front, he moved them similarly to a blind person trying to find something to hold onto. However, he fell as a result of slipping while trying to move his legs forward.

"That man is dangerous—subjugate him first!"

The commanding man among the others quickly analysed the situation, and he gave his command.

They pointed their mana blasters at Henry and soon began to fire—spheres of flame, sparks of ice, and poisonous liquid shot toward him.

Henry responded quickly in his defense. He had only recently become a bond magician, so not all of his magic had fully transformed into that of curse mana. Taking advantage of this fact, he cast basic spells from other magic fields along with his own advanced curse spells.

First, he cast a basic protective spell that could only withstand one or two attacks from other fields. However, Henry was not totally dependent on the shield alone. Right after casting the spell, he exhaled heavily, releasing a massive amount of dark miasma from within him into the outside air.

The shield spell acted like a bubble around Henry, and inside, the bubble filled with dark mist brushing out from him.

"That man in the suit—he didn't put up any resistance against my basic curse spell, which means he isn't a bond magician. Considering they're all in the same group, I can assume none of them are proper magicians.

But the problem is the man who commanded them. From the beginning, he didn't move—he only gave orders."

Surrounded by the dark mist, Henry analyzed his surroundings.

Crik!

At that moment, suddenly, the limit of what the shield spell could bear was reached, and like shattering glass, the spell broke. The mist that had been sealed inside burst out like a flood, engulfing the field of flowers and the men in suits.

"To cast a curse on any person, whether they're ordinary or a magician, the first requirement is to temper my curse mana enough to overpower the victim's own mana, which acts as a protective shield when the curse tries to take effect.

Since you all seem like ordinary people and are just doing your job, I'll try not to kill anyone."

"Curse Spell: "

The dark mist—or more precisely, the curse mana—that surrounded the men in suits reacted to Henry's words and was absorbed into their eyes.

"What? Ah, where is the sun? I can't see!"

Just like the first victim, all the men in suits lost their vision.

"This is my chance. Blinding Darkness only lasts about ten to fifteen minutes—if I use that time to…"

Huh!

The wave of thoughts rushing through Henry's mind was suddenly halted as he saw smoke rising on the horizon. In the time it had taken for him and the men in suits to settle down, the smoke had gotten much closer—close enough for him to see its source.

What Henry saw was a flying ship. On every corner of it stood men in suits, similar to the ones he was already up against.

"Shit, they called for reinforcements. Auran, come back to your senses—we have to esc—ah!"

A sudden pain struck Henry's back, and he felt his body becoming paralyzed. His legs lost all sensation, and he collapsed backward. As he hit the ground, he saw the commanding man holding a mana blaster in his hand.

"He was able to dispel my curse this fast... It seems he's a bond magician—or has some sort of curse resistance tool. Damn it."

While Henry still had his consciousness, he saw Auran finally finding what he had been searching for.

"Finally... I found it."

Auran grabbed the bottle he had found throughout the blue flower field. Like a beast he was in a hurry and quickly opened the bottle to drink it.

However, the moment he opened the lid, pain assaulted him from behind, and a wave of paralysis ran through his body. His grip weakened as a result, and the bottle slipped from his hand.

"What the..."

Auran had no sense of what had just happened, and it didn't take long for him to lose his mind under the flood of information rapidly flowing into his head.

Clink!

Something hit the ground near him, and he didn't like the sound of it. Looking down, he saw the bottle of Brain Deceleration on the ground. However, when it fell, it had landed in an unfortunate way that caused everything inside to spill out completely.

"Shit... how fucking wasteful," Auran sighed at the loss. That was all he could do at the moment while preparing for the worst to come.

"Surrender yourself."

But there was still a bit of rage left inside him, and hearing someone commanding him made that anger erupt.

"I will not say aga—"

The soldier in the suit didn't finish his words, because something extremely sharp slid through him in an instant. The speed of the object was so fast, it took a few moments for the man to split and fall in two.

Enduring the frenzy running through his mind, which was rapidly increasing, Auran gazed at the others in the field with murderous intent in his eyes. It was at that moment that he saw Henry lying on the ground.

Seeing the momentary pause in his focus, the commanding man among the group triggered his mana blaster a few times. Following his lead, the others fired their mana blasters at Auran.

Injected with continuous paralyzing and electrifying spells, Auran fell, already slipping into unconsciousness.

"Be careful—and make sure to seal him thoroughly. To slice a man apart in an instant... I don't know what kind of magic field he's studied, but he's also dangerous just like the other one"

The commanding man in the suit gave the order to the others while he observed the severed body on the field.
