Jason leaned back in his seat, arms crossed behind his head, as Aizawa stood silently before the class, eyes half-lidded in exhaustion. Most of the students were still buzzing from the events of their first day. Jason, however, just stared out the window like none of it mattered.
"Today," Aizawa said flatly, "we'll be doing combat training. Put on your gym uniforms and meet me outside."
A murmur rippled through the room. Jason didn't react until Momo nudged him from her seat next to his.
"You're not going to sleep through this, are you?" she asked with an amused smile.
Jason rolled his eyes. "Please. I'm the definition of physical perfection." He flexed jokingly. "I'll just stand there and look cool."
But when they stepped outside and saw the setup for training—an open field lined with dummies, obstacle tracks, and impact zones—Jason realized this might actually be interesting.
Pairs were assigned. Naturally, Jason got paired with Tenya Iida, who looked at him like a test subject that had escaped the lab.
"I expect you to take this seriously," Iida said stiffly.
Jason just gave a lazy smile. "Of course, glasses. Lead the way."
The exercise was simple: take down as many dummies as possible in five minutes using their Quirks. Iida bolted like a missile. Jason took a breath… and his body shimmered. A perfect copy stepped out of him. Two Jasons now.
Momo, watching from the sidelines with Yaoyorozu's usual grace, narrowed her eyes. So he's finally using it in front of others…
The two Jasons split up. One shapeshifted, limbs elongating into sleek, whip-like tendrils to strike multiple targets at once. The other flickered between forms, becoming a jaguar-like beast to leap from dummy to dummy. Smooth, silent, precise.
Bakugo, arms crossed, growled under his breath. "What the hell kind of Quirk is that?"
Midoriya furiously scribbled notes in a notebook. "It's… it's like duplication combined with transformation… but the coordination is seamless! That's… amazing…"
At the end of the round, the field was littered with downed targets. Jason walked back to the group, stretching like he'd just finished a nap.
"Told you I was physical perfection," he said, looking at Momo with a wink.
She rolled her eyes, but the small smirk on her face betrayed her amusement.
Aizawa marked something on his clipboard. "Jason Lax. Impressive. You fight like you've done this before."
Jason shrugged. "Maybe I have. Maybe I haven't."
The next pair stepped forward, but all eyes lingered on Jason a moment longer—even Bakugo's, who now saw him as a new threat.
But Jason? He just yawned.
"Wake me when something exciting happens."
