Chapter 37 - The Claim

Nora stood frozen, the air between them thick,

unspoken. Zayan's gaze pinned her in place—hungry, commanding, possessive. He walked toward her with deliberate calm, every step echoing with silent intent.

"You think this is about debt?" he murmured, voice low and dark as thunder. "No, beautiful. This is about ownership."

His hand reached for her, brushing her cheek with surprising gentleness before pulling her into his arms. Their lips met—slow at first, then deeper, more urgent, more desperate. His hunger for her, long restrained, finally broke free.

Zayan lifted her effortlessly, carrying her to the bed like something precious he was finally ready to claim. Moonlight poured into the room, washing over his bare chest, casting shadows over the muscles that flexed beneath his skin.

What followed was not gentle.

He took his time learning her—his lips mapping the curve of her neck, her shoulder, her waist, his hands tracing her as if committing her to memory. She writhed beneath him, her body giving in completely to his rhythm, to his dominance. He gripped her hips with force, dragging her into him again and again, lost in the heat of her.

Her mind blanked. Her breath hitched. Her eyes rolled back as wave after wave tore through her. She moaned, gasped, whispered his name, and he responded with more—more of everything. Pleasure. Control. Fire.

Every second he spent on her was deliberate, calculated. Not just to satisfy her, but to mark her. To make her his.

Hours passed like seconds. And when they both finally lay still, tangled in the sheets and in each other, the room was thick with silence. Zayan, for once, looked at peace—one arm flung loosely over her, as if even in sleep, he needed her close.

Nora didn't move for a long time.

Then, gently, she shifted. She turned to him—watching the way his lashes touched his cheek, how soft his face looked in sleep. Vulnerable. Almost human.

She reached out, slowly, carefully. Her fingertips brushed across his skin, tracing the line of his jaw.

Then she leaned in and pressed a single, silent kiss to his cheek.

No words.

No goodbye.

She stood, dressed quietly, and slipped out of the room, leaving only the scent of her skin on the pillow and the echo of everything they'd shared behind her.
