Chapter 2 - The Unwelcomed Guest

The opulent room seemed to suffocate Adam, its grandeur a stark contrast to the turmoil brewing within him. The mysterious figure's words still lingered in his mind, their enigmatic smile haunting him like a specter. "You're expected at Argentum Academy," they had said, their voice dripping with an otherworldly charm that sent shivers down Adam's spine.

As the figure vanished into thin air, Adam felt like he was trapped in a never-ending maze, with no escape in sight. He paced around the room, his footsteps echoing off the walls as he tried to process the situation. He was Adam Steiner, a character from a web novel he used to read. The memories of his past life were still vivid, but they felt like they belonged to someone else.

Adam's gaze fell upon the notification still floating in front of him, like a ghostly presence that refused to be ignored. He focused on it, and the information expanded, revealing more details about his current status.

_Level:_ 5

_Class:_ Deathbringer (Specialization: Dark Assassin)

_Class Description:_ Masters of stealth and deception, Deathbringers excel at eliminating targets without being detected. Their reputation is built on fear and respect.

Adam's eyes widened as he read through his attributes and skills, a mix of excitement and trepidation swirling within him. He felt like a pawn in a grand game, with the stakes higher than he could ever imagine.

A knock at the door broke the silence, like a harbinger of the unknown. "Lord Adam, your escort is waiting," a soft voice said, its gentle tone a stark contrast to the turmoil brewing within Adam.

Adam's eyes narrowed as he opened the door, his mind racing with questions. Who was this escort, and what did they want from him? The tall, dark-haired man with piercing green eyes standing before him seemed to embody an air of confidence, his smile hinting at secrets untold.

"Welcome, Lord Adam," the man said, his voice smooth as silk. "I'm Lyrien, your escort to Argentum Academy. Shall we proceed?"

Adam raised an eyebrow, his skepticism evident. "You're my escort? What's the plan, Lyrien? Are you going to babysit me or something?"

Lyrien's smile grew wider, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Something like that, Lord Adam. Let's just say I'm here to ensure your safety and... facilitate your learning experience."

Adam snorted, his incredulity plain. "Yeah, sure. Because nothing says 'learning experience' like being thrown into a deadly world."

Lyrien chuckled, the sound like music to Adam's ears. "You'll find Argentum Academy is quite... enlightening, Lord Adam."

As they walked, Adam couldn't help but feel a sense of trepidation. What lay ahead for him at Argentum Academy? Would he be able to navigate this new world and find a way back home? The uncertainty hung over him like a dark cloud, casting a shadow over his every step.

The city seemed to stretch on forever, its buildings towering above him like giants. Adam felt small and insignificant, a mere pawn in a game he didn't fully understand. But as he walked alongside Lyrien, he steeled himself for the challenges ahead. He would face whatever came his way, head-on. For now, he would play along, and see where this journey would take him.

As they approached the academy, Adam could feel the weight of his responsibilities settling onto his shoulders. He was a Deathbringer, a master of stealth and deception. He would need to use all his skills to survive in this new world.

The academy loomed before them, its walls towering above the city like a fortress. Adam felt a shiver run down his spine as he gazed up at it. This was just the beginning, and he knew he had to be prepared for whatever lay ahead.

"Let's go," Lyrien said, his voice low and steady. "We don't want to be late for your first day."

Adam nodded, his heart racing with anticipation. He took a deep breath, steeling himself for the challenges that lay ahead. He was Adam Steiner, a Deathbringer, and he would not back down.

With a sense of determination, Adam followed Lyrien into the academy, ready to face whatever lay ahead. The doors swung open, revealing a world of wonder and danger. Adam's journey had just begun, and he was ready to take on whatever challenges came his way.
