Chapter Five: Unknown Reaction
If your boss asks for a gun, you don't ask questions —you just bring it.
But if you receive a bonus at the end of the month for your good work, you'll never bring it up to anyone.
That's Damien's situation...
Break it
On your way, break it. It can be used five times.
Method: Left palm in contact, and say: "I am sorry."
Damien stayed awake all night until the afternoon. Then, when he returned from college the next day, he received the note.
He was lost.
He was always searching for a win, an easy win. A way to escape his destiny and gain a clear view of the road ahead. Not a road without obstacles, but one where someone told him what to do. Damien's mind was in turmoil.
He tried using the power on a book at home. Nothing happened.
He failed so many times that failure became normal. Eventually, he stopped asking why.
"Is it fake?" Damien asked himself. He clung to the idea that he could avoid facing the truth about the power he'd been given.
On his way to class, he made up his mind to try it on someone, just to end this chapter, whether it turned out to be a weird coincidence or a problem in his mind.
He was looking for an excuse. He knew how to get one... But he didn't want to get it.
"Are you okay?" Alexa came up to him.
"No, but I will be. See you later, I'm going to class." Damien paused for a second, then tried to keep walking, but Alexa stood in front of him, staring up at his face.
"Did you lose your mind? Move, or tell me..." Alexa slapped him.
Damien froze in confusion. Before he could react, she leaned in close to his ear.
"You're mine," she whispered.
Damien tried to 'shake' her hand by force but realized he couldn't move. His eyes stared straight ahead, pretending he wasn't conscious.
But Alexa…
"It really works," she said, circling around him. Everyone around them was also frozen.
She reached out to touch Damien, but her hand passed through him. "It was asking too much," she muttered.
She stared at him with a long, unblinking smile. Damien couldn't hold it anymore.
"Ha, you blinked!" Alexa said immediately. "I knew I wasn't crazy. Someone this insane had to have it too."
"What the f*** are you talking about? Devil, if you want my soul, just say it. We don't need this theater." Damien raised his voice at first, then lowered it near the end, he had assumed he couldn't even speak.
"No, no, no. Don't pretend with me. I know what you are." Alexa leaned in close, face to face. "You're a believer."
"Yeah, I believe in God. But right now? He's not exactly with me. If we could..."
"Just stop. Stop," she cut him off. "Okay. If you can explain one thing to me, I'll leave you alone. Clear?"
Damien nodded.
"Why did you get that guy expelled?" she asked, pointing behind Damien at someone.
He wasn't sure who she meant, but he had a guess. "What?"
Damien wasn't confused because someone else was like him. That would be too self-centered. But Alexa...
"Yeah, yeah, you heard me. We don't have all day," she said, tapping an invisible watch on her wrist.
"Okay... He punched me because he thought I was flirting with his girlfriend. I was just talking with her. I didn't try to get him expelled—it just happened. Why? I don't know. Since when does this country actually enforce rules?" He paused, waiting for a response. None came. "He had bad luck."
"..."
"..."
"Let's be clear," Alexa said. "You started dating someone, then started flirting with her best friend who already had a boyfriend. You flirted in front of everyone, including me. The boyfriend got expelled and became her ex. And then you started dating her... for free."
Damien paused in silence.
"In my defense... I'm not good at socializing."
And now... Damien understood.

It's a short chapter. I was thinking of making it longer, but I feel it ends well. Somedays, the story will appear on my profile, I hope it gets some attention after what happens.
So far, I haven't received any feedback.
Even so, I think I'll keep uploading the story until it reaches at least 20,000 words, even if it doesn't get much support.
