Chapter 23 - The Beginning of the End

For the first time, he had a friend. For the first time, he felt human again. And when they took that away— When they turned their cruelty toward her— It broke something inside him.

She lasted one month. Then she jumped from the school rooftop. And he had been the one who found her body.

They told him it was his fault. They told him she died because she was weak. And the next day— They laughed about it.

He still had his parents. The only two people who had ever fought for him. The only two people who had ever said, "You matter."

And then— One night— He came home. And they were gone.

Their bodies lay in the kitchen. Their blood painted the walls.

It wasn't an accident. It wasn't a mystery.

Because on the wall, written in their blood, were the words: "Trash doesn't deserve family."

And the moment he read those words— Something inside him shattered forever.

Because this world— This world had made something very, very clear. He was never meant to survive.

So he stopped trying. He climbed to the top of an abandoned building. Tied a rope around his neck. And whispered his last words: "I just wanted to live." And then— He let go.

Satoshi gasped. The memories ended. But the pain didn't.

He sat there—trembling. Fists clenched. His whole body was burning.

That boy—this other version of him— He'd been tossed aside by the world. Treated like garbage. Laughed at. Broken. And then erased.

Satoshi's Eyes of Wrath lit up. The air twisted. Reality bent. And when he spoke—his voice was cold, not entirely human.

"No."

The world shuddered.

"You don't get to just disappear like this." Lightning flashed. The ground rumbled. His power surged.

"They don't get to win."

He stood.

"They don't get to live their lives thinking they were right."

The shadows curled around him. His rage swallowed the sky.

"I will find them."

His breath slowed.

"I will remind them."

His hands burned with divine fury.

"And I'll make them understand—" The world darkened.

"What it means to suffer."

And for the first time ever in the history of the World of Hunters— The hunters were going to become the hunted.

The school looked exactly like in the boy's memories. Same hallways full of laughter. Same classrooms where cruelty was comedy. Same faces who laughed at his pain.

And now? They were living like nothing had ever happened. Like he never existed. Like Olivia never died. Like his parents were never murdered.

Satoshi stood in the doorway. Eyes of Wrath glowing. And he smiled. Not with anger. Not with sadness.

Something worse. Something cold. Something amused.

"Alright," he said, voice echoing through the building. "Let's play a game."

The second those words left his mouth— Reality cracked.

Walls dissolved into colorless space. The floor stretched into infinity. Windows shattered into threads of logic.

Students and teachers froze.

And then— They screamed.

Because this wasn't their school anymore. They were in his world now.

A world that didn't make sense. A world where reality was a playground. A world where there was only one rule: "Survive."

Satoshi hovered above them like a lazy god, lounging midair. He clapped.

"Welcome, everyone! Today's a special event." The void rippled.

"A simple game." He grinned.

"Ten rounds." "One survivor."

The screaming didn't stop. Students dropped. Teachers begged.

And Satoshi? He sighed.

"Oh, right. You're confused." He tilted his head, mock sympathy in his tone.

"You don't remember, huh?" A pause.

"The boy you bullied?" Nothing.

"Olivia?" Still silence.

"Two people took their lives. And you laughed."

The void dimmed. Satoshi's smile faded.

"Then let me help you remember."

He snapped his fingers.

And the first round began.

Red Light, Green Light.

A massive golden statue appeared in the center of the void. A twisted version of a kid's toy. Hollow eyes. Stitched mouth.

Then— Its head snapped toward them.

A childlike voice, warped and wrong, filled the air:

"Green Light."

Nothing happened. Everyone just stared. Confused.

Then: "Red Light."

Five people exploded.

The others screamed. The game was on.

Satoshi floated above them, completely chill. "Oops! Forgot to explain." He laughed.

He pointed at the statue. "Simple. When it says 'Green Light,' you move."

He pointed at the impossible finish line way off in the distance.

"When it says 'Red Light'..." He grinned.

"You better be still. Or you die."

More screaming. More denial.

Satoshi groaned. "Okay, fine. I'll help." He snapped his fingers.

Their legs moved on their own. Step. Step. Step.

"Red Light."

Boom.

Bodies detonated. Their own limbs betrayed them.

And Satoshi? He watched. Smiling. Because this? This was fun. And he was just getting started.

When it ended— Only fifty were left.

Hundreds were gone. Just like that.

The ones who remained? Some cried. Some prayed. Some just stared.

And finally, they understood:

This wasn't a dream. This wasn't a joke.

This was real. And they weren't getting out. Unless they won.

Satoshi hovered above them, still smiling. "That was great!" he said, stretching like he just woke up from a nap.

"Now... who's ready for Round Two?"

Screams erupted again. And Satoshi laughed.

Because finally— They knew what fear felt like.

And this? This was only the beginning.

The survivors were shaking. Hands. Legs. Minds.

They'd watched their friends burst into red mist. Seen people disappear with no warning.

And still— Satoshi saw it in their eyes: Hope.

Maybe it was a test. Maybe if they apologized, he'd stop. Maybe this wasn't real.

Satoshi chuckled. "Cute."

They still thought they had a chance.

He snapped his fingers. The void changed.

And Round Two began.
